French Onion burger with French Onion soup
    Tom V.

The service was perfect. Big smiles and warm greetings. The food was plentiful, a bit pricey but as far as I am concerned, good food comes at a bit of a price. Not complaining. The place was decorated for the holiday season. The burgers were perfect and the fried mozzarella was just right. First time visiting, but not our last.

We returned multiple times since our first visit and the service and food have been consistently exceptional. We were seated in the section opposite the bar and the warm fireplace gave a cozy feel. Dinner consisted of steak frittes and pan seared scallops, and churros and ice cream made for a sweet dessert. Food came out fairly quickly and tasted great. I observed that all tables were well taken care of with servers checking in often. The place is packed on a Friday night and parking can get tricky despite the large lot. However, we had another great experience at Taphouse 15.

Went with our friends. I saw a post about this on tiktok but we live 2 hours away so we never went until we passed by it. The food was great. We loved the tomato fondue. I went with group of 8 people. It was busy. It is pricey though. We all ordered different things but from what I remembered we got bang bang shrimp, agave lime calamari, garlic knots, beef short rib grilled cheese with parmesan truffle fries, terminator burger, steak frites, mac and cheese, and more.

Was brought here by my girlfriend's relatives who live in a neighboring town. They've spent formative years in New York and are self-conscious about NJ pizza so took us here. As spoiled New Yorkers who already have our fill & choice of pizza, we were excited to try what aunt and uncle also recommended like the French onion soup, Americanized in a good way: The cheese bubbled over each single-serving pot to their very bottom. Nice. Next came our mains: I got the stuffed acorn squash, which looks small, but I couldn't finish, and it was a tad too sweet. My partner got the pasta with pepper jack chicken and sausage which I tried a little of; her aunt and uncle split the humongous Cuban sandwich. For drinks I had a prosecco, my partner and her uncle Stella's. The beer menu was as big as a bible but my gf's uncle, a beer aficionado, was more interested in talking with us: The place was big enough where we could do just that with the Winter Olympics playing in the background. Our waitress had a great sense of humor (we don't get ironic waitresses in New York), reminded me why we come out to NJ: for the people!!

Great place. Really nice staff and great service. It's a beautiful restaurant. Best atmosphere. Food looks divine.

My partner and I came here a few days ago to celebrate our five year anniversary. He's been here once before, but I never have so I wanted to try it out. We came at a perfect time, it wasn't too crowded. We came right before a dinner rush it would seem. For the appetizer, we ordered the calamari. It was the first time I've had calamari that was more on the sweet and spicy side rather than salty. It wasn't my favorite, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. For entrees, we both got steaks, I ordered mine medium rare. The steak was really good. I unfortunately wasn't able to finish it but I at least got to take it home to enjoy the leftovers. Overall, the staff was super friendly, and very helpful. Definitely would like to come back another time.

Here fora wedding so 12 of us we decided to come for dinner . Place has a great atmosphere. The service was great. The food was good. We had no complaints. Sat at the bar first for a couple of drinks and honestly, the bartender were awesome and so attentive. The drinks were good and just a happy place to be at. We had pizzas n salad . At the end two of us returned to the bar for another drink and the bartenders remembered us and were so welcoming!! Kudos to them . If they are like this all the time for customers that leave in the area definitely a place to go !!

    Fried Calamari - $17

Every time I pass this place, it is always busy. And after my visit, I could see why. I came here on a Sunday night about an hour before closing time so it wasn't as crowded. The place has a combination of a sports bar and diner vibe to it. Sat at a booth near the bar and kicked it off with an order of fried calamari ($17) which had an interesting batter. For my main I got the bbq burger ($19) which came with pork belly and was very tasty. My brother got the terminator burger ($19) which looked awesome with onion rings stacked on top. I will be back for the terminator burger. I highly recommend this place if you want good food and want to catch some sport games. - parking on premise - sports bar - great service

It is on the spicier side, so this is something to consider if you do not like spice. That said, the noodles were terrific, and you are served a large portion of it. Wow! So I asked ChatGPT, hey chat, can you recommend a fun, reasonably priced restaurant nearby for…read moredinner and one recommendation was White Owl Tavern. Hmm, never heard of it. Honey, let's go! So we went and so very glad we did. Appropriately 10 minutes from home we pull up to this seemingly small bar restaurant and to be honest, from the neighboring burned shell of a restaurant next door and the need to find parking since the lot was full we almost drove away but the full lot told me that something good was happening inside so in three minutes we found a spot on the main road and walked half a block to the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly host who made a booth available for us in a couple of minutes and sat. We were greeted by our exceptional server Jess and drinks were ordered. I had the Mai Tai and my girlfriend had the Lychee Martini. The bartender here at White Owl should have his portrait hanging in this restaurant because his drinks are absolutely perfectly crafted! Now on to the food. We started with the Frito Misto and the Firecracker Shrimp. Both exceeded our expectations. The Frito Misto was missing the scallops but neither of us cared. Crispy and delicious. The marinara needed slightly more salt but that's just my taste. For dinner my girlfriend had the Short-rib Showdown, cheese ravioli topped with short ribs, pistachio, Parmesan and Calabrian chili. Outstanding!! I had probably the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had, Umami Grilled Cheese, frico coated sourdough, birria, cheese, apricot jam and caramelized onions and a side of birria consommé to dip. I mean, if I'm ever offered my last meal, this will be it. Maybe adding some shaved white truffles for a kick. lol. One thing I noticed that's really important to me when I'm out was the cleanliness. There are disco balls hanging throughout the restaurant that must be cleaned weekly if not daily. Shelves, fake plants, walls all very clean and well cared for. I love this place and can't wait to get back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you to Jess and the whole team at WOT. You guys are exceptional! I highly recommend!!

It was topped with provolone cheese that was also melted just enough to not be messy, but the melt complimented the flavors of the medium rare steak. The sandwich was accompanied by perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. We ate at the bar and were taken care of by a very efficient bartender who also brought us our food. She made recommendations to my co-workers who weren't quite sure of what to order and they took her suggestions and were glad they did. McKenna's is a local pub and while this was my first visit, we were told that it is under new management. I do plan to go back soon and try their Shepherd's Pie which I saw another diner order. Our server told us it comes in two sizes, which is probably a lunch sized portion and a larger one for dinner. McKenna's is not a true dive bar; it was clean and warm, and the people were friendly. I hope its new management/ownership are successful because I plan on going back more frequently now that I've discovered it and because I want to work my way through the rest of their menu.
