Strictly an overpriced tourist bar, the wait staff is friendly enough I guess, but the food...SUCKS! we went for happy hour grub, the " Margherita pizza was fd up..just a frozen like pizza crust with some blobs of mozzarella, NO basil..(cardboard carbs) for their outrageous price . The happy hour "loaded fries" damn..disgusting, the waitress knew we were upset by the look on our faces, so she gave a small discount, needless to say we left most of it on the table, we definitely will not be returning to this tourist trap. read more

We came to Tapa Bar a couple of times to grab a quick bite and listen to music. Linda and Crystal were both very helpful and courteous. Bands are fun and frequent! Always people hanging out every night so it's loud and fun! The food is just bar food and overpriced for what it is! I paid $28 for a basic Caesar salad with an added what appeared and tasted like a frozen chicken patty heated in the microwave so I only ate the lettuce!! It's a fun and easy to walk to hangout! We decided to try one of the many places to eat here. This was after some time spent on the beach and getting our first burn of the trip initiated. When we went the open air restaurant was nearly empty with the exception of the bar itself. On the menu is several selections, mostly in the burger and sandwich realm with a few salads as well. Prepare yourself for not only the higher costs of Hawaii but also resort food. It is quite east to get to $100 without trying very hard at all, and if you do decide to get a few drinks, it's as easy as well...you know. Both the wife and I got our libation of choice which yo can see in the pictures. A Mai Tai and a Blue Hawaiian were on the menu today. Both the wife and I got the smash burger, hers a single while mine was a double. The burger was very delicious and a good portion of food. Not realizing what we had done, we also ordered the loaded waffle fries. They were delicious for sure, however if I were to do this again I would ask for the sour cream to be on the side as we got what seemed like a ladle sized serving of sour cream and it was too gigantic of a dal-up to efficiently put onto your cheese, bacon smothered waffle fry. The taste however was very delicious. The service was decent, nothing to brag about, but not horrible either. Met my extended family here on a Saturday night as they were staying in the Tapa Tower and we were next door in a different hotel. Our server was super friendly, attentive and checked on us often. Drinks were delicious, I didn't order any food but no complaints from those that did. The live band they had played great tunes! It was a great area to start off our family vacation. read more

So the first pastrami Reuben we received was burned. I mean really burned. Even the meat. The server explained that it was the color of the rye bread. Yes, we know that rye is a brown almost chocolate color. However when you can taste burned bread and burned meat. Not cool. They said they would bring us another one. Cool, we waited for a new one. HOWEVER, the one we received was cold, and full of fat. At this point we realized the cook hates us and wants to play games. Our other meal was the "OG double smash burger" and it was FANTASTIC. And when you order during happy hour just make sure it's about 20 minutes before it ends. They must set their clocks forward 20 minutes so they can charge you regular price. Came on Christmas Eve for some drinks and they did not disappoint! The hostess at the front checked vaccination status and was doing a very thorough job. All staff we interacted with were so sweet and pleasant. I've now tried every flavor of frozen daiquiri (lol), and banana and mango are my favorites! Strawberry is a close runner up. None of the flavors seemed to be artificial- all fresh! Previous reviews seem to be right- they are generous with the pour here! I had to stop after two drinks. They do offer lids to take the drinks to go, which was great. Drinks are about 50 cents to a dollar more than the Tropics Bar and Grill, but I think the heavier pours make up for the cost. I don't expect a super affordable drink at the resort anyway. They were playing a Christmas movie at the bar, but it wasn't super loud. The vibes are good here! What attracted us to this place was a giant list posted outside of happy hour times and what is included. We were staying at the Hilton where this bar located on the same property. Actually, the bar was right outside our tower so we wouldn't have to stumble far lol. We checked in just as happy hour started so we went to our room, settled in, ordered 2 Mai Tais, then walked around the property and enjoy being in Hawaii. There is a lot of tables and seating around the bar but I would approximate about 10-15 seats at the bar. The bar area was packed most of the times we visited or walked by. Every time we went to the bar to order drinks, the staff was welcoming and friendly. There were only a couple times we had to wait to be served. I ordered a Mai Tai every time we stopped here but hubs had to order beer because the Mai Tai was giving him heartburn lol. The drinks were strong, which is rare in most bars, especially in tourist places. We went one night before closing and ordered some drinks to walk on the beach with. I mean it's Hawaii so the tab was close to $40. It was still worth it to me. This is definitely a nice spot to stop at as your first drink of the vacation or after a long day of exploring. read more

I have learned something today, that the customer is always wrong. Service is extremely poor at the Tapa Bar. Entertainment is quite good, however. That being said, the sound is very loud and could lead to temporary hearing loss per my iWatch. Back to service, one server said a virgin daiquiri would be less than a daiquiri with rum but when billed it was the same price. We brought this up and then a server said oh no you were served alcohol. Thankfully I'm not in recovery or I would have relapsed. You know, I might be writing this while I'm drunk. Waited about forty minutes prior to be served and we needed to wave over them first of all before we got any service. Not surprised by the bar's low rating. Only positive thing is the entertainment but the service is horrific. I can't recommend this bar. I'm not surprised by this experience and just reinforces that Hilton continues to be known for their lack of customer service. Btw, the food looks terrible. Wondering if the pizzas are frozen pizzas based on their appearance. I can only imagine that the burgers are frozen burgers vs shaped fresh raw ground beef. Menu is limited and not impressive. Subsequently, it looks like they reversed all the charges hence I am upgrading my rating from a one to a two. Still, this was never communicated to us because I guess they didn't want to engage with us. No apologies or nothing. We were willing to pay but it was just an issue of principle, don't say it's less than charge not less. Me and someone else ate dinner here at 5PM, left and walked down to the beach to catch the sunset then walked back. Someone i was with wanted to go to one of the local places real quick so just sat at this place and listened to the live band that started playing until they came back to go up to the hotel. I was approached after about 10 minutes being asked if i was going to be having dinner and i said no and they walked away. 5 minutes later the same guy walked up and told that if i wasnt going to be giving them money then i needed to leave. I then informed him that i ate there less then 2 hours ago and they insisted that i need to leave. So about my dining experience, my drink tasted like it had contaminated ice, the second was better. I got the OG burger. There was hardly any "awesome sauce" and the burger was plain and tasted off. I also got the Loaded waffle fries and the fries were rock hard with old melted cheese at room temp with sour cream and onions added before bringing it out. Ive never had fries as hard as jawbreakers until here. The person i was with got the Margh pizza and they said it like getting a gas station pizza and very low quality. The person who waited on us was a woman and she was fine. I did alot of observation while eating and the second time i was here. There was constant birds flying around at close proximity to guests and overhead. Jumping on tables and tearing the yet to be bussed table apart for food. These birds would walk around on the ground alot to and even approach you. There was alot of bird feces on the ground, these birds would often jump around and be on the table tops of tables ready for guests. Drinks while i ate all came in plastic cups with straws and uncovered. I got a bottle beer and a coke to have with my food, and felt the need to keep my coke covered from all the birds flying around. Later when i was kicked out i noticed one persons drink was covered but it was for a woman so it may have been for other reasons. I saw them loading the straws and taking them out of the package with their hands and bumping the handful straight onto the bar then putting them into the straw container with sat on the bar uncovered. I strongly urge anyone to avoid this place, The food is unimpressive and even if it was its only a matter of time before the lack of sanitation will get you. We came here as our daughter had prom in their ballroom. This review is based on food alone. The place was packed and service was lacking. We waited a good 20 minutes before we were waited on. After that, we were checked on but definitely not often. They definitely need to hire more-it looked like 3 runners. The food was horrific. Mister got the pizza and only ate half. It arrived cold and as though it was cooked in a microwave. I got the loaded waffle fries minus bacon. It too came out cold, cheese unmelted. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, idk. It lacked taste and we had to look around for ketchup and hot sauce. Both our stomachs hurt after we went home. Parking: I valet'd and was told if I ordered anything, including just coffee, valet is free. Otherwise, $15 with validation. None of that was true. The mgr did sign the slip and we told the valet mgr what was said. He concurred that valet is not free and if anything, $15 w validation. And the only place that validates is Bali. Otherwise it's $65 to valet. Holy smokes. I wasn't charged due to this false information but just be forewarned. read more
