Tap and Tapas sits outside of Northport village so it doesn't get the attention it deserves. Great food and service. There is an authentic Spanish wine list and outstanding menu. There is outdoor seating and cozy indoor seating. Very friendly and helpful staff. A lot of vegetarian choices to select from. My wife enjoyed the vegetarian paella and I had the traditional seafood paella both were excellent. I highly recommend this Northport gem. read more

I have been here several times and if it wasn't so expensive I would go more often. Right on Main Street in Northport but not downtown where all the restaurants are located. We sat outside twice and inside once. Service is always excellent! Drinks and beers are always great! Good IPA selection. The food is good just not huge portions (they are tapas), and if you order enough to make you full the receipt gets pretty hefty. I went to Tap & Tapas on a friday night for dinner with a friend. It was pretty crowded when we arrived, and we didn't have a reservation, but were sat within minutes as a cozy table near the back. The food was SO delicious and I loved that they had 3 wines on tap. Our favorite dishes were the shrimp in garlic butter sauce, the hummus and the churros for dessert. I am so impressed. I live in NYC (from Northport) so I am able to get great food often. Long Island restaurants can be hit or miss with quality and service. This place gets everything right. They have a decent happy hour with food and drink. A great tapas menu and good wine/cocktail list. Try the white sangria. Our favorites were the chicken skewers, potato bravas, and beet salad. Shrimp and Pan Con Tomate were solid. Only complaint is the lamb was a bit dry. We sat outside and loved our experience. I hope this place lasts. It's perfect for Northport. read more

Found this gem on our way to the Northport Library for a talk. We had a little time so decided to try a few quick bites here. Fantastic cozy ambiance and terrific service! We tried the patatas bravas which were crispy on the outside and tender inside. This was my first tasting of Pimientos prepared this way and i am hooked! They were sweet yet once in a while you get one with just enough heat to spice up the experience. I have heard that it's good luck to get one with a bit of heat! The portions were generous and shareable, and well-presented. We had a mezcal ($18) that the bartender recommended and my friend said it was one of the best ones she has tasted yet. My other friend had a Sangria which was also tasty and a generous serving. He knew we were limited for time and made it work for us in a kind way. We'll be back! read more

So I finally got back to try the food. I had visitors from out of town, San Francisco actually so they're tough to please and I wanted to impress, this is the place to do it. , We all love tapas and Tap and tapas is the highest rated restaurant for this on Long Island. Lucky for us I live nearby. They did not disappoint, the food, service, vibe was phenomenal. Top quality all the way my family was impressed and so was I and we will be back. Everybody enjoyed their wine while I opted for a guava margarita, which was delicious and refreshing, we ordered the salad with the burrata. It was delicious. We also got the chorizo which everybody thoroughly enjoyed. The pastas bravas were spicy crispy and delicious. We had to have the Iberico ham which was sweet and wonderful. I loved the sautéed greens with the garbanzo beans I could eat that every day. The owner and chef made his rounds to tables to make sure everything was to peoples liking and was very open to questions/comments. We ordered pan tomate, pulpo asado, papas bravas and merguez (lamb sausage special of the night) to start then added on the chorizo and camarones al ajo. All delicious and would recommend! We had the red sangria to drink- also very good. We weren't sure if we wanted dessert but asked to just see the menu for another time and of course were tempted and ended up ordering the basque cheesecake. It was homemade and a great end to the meal because it didn't feel heavy- was nice and light and not too sweet. The place itself is so cute looking- we ate outside and there were lights strung out. The inside and bar looked nice too. Staff was friendly and great. So happy with this addition to Northport. This is a local restaurant that just opened up off the main drag of Main Street in Northport. The ambience is really pretty and clean. We sat down immediately and were able to enjoy a local brew. They are sangria is homemade and absolutely delicious. The short rib was tender to the bone as well as the octopus And brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the hummus with pita bread, which we actually ordered another bowl because it was so good. For dessert, we enjoyed the homemade chocolate mousse and churros. The churros came with a warm cinnamon sauce to dunk, which was worth every calorie. Definitely recommend and definitely will come back soon. They have seating outdoors and indoors. All of their tapas are just top notch. The service is excellent as well. That a restaurant named 'Tap and Tapas' serves only small plates doesn't come as a surprise. What's surprising is how consistently good this newly opened Northport establishment is, serving authentic Spanish food that will put a smile on the face of the most discerning diner. Having been turned away as walk-ins at Delvino Vineyards, we stumbled upon nearby 'Tap and Tapas' which is located on a quiet street in a mostly residential area. A pleasant outdoor dining area greets guests as they walk towards the restaurant. Inside, a nicely appointed dining area with ample space straddles casual and formal. An attractive bar provides additional seating. We decided to dine outdoors since it was a pleasant late summer afternoon. The menu is broken into sections: tapas, salads, drinks and specials. They have a wide selection of drinks that includes beers, wine, sangrias and cocktails. The drinks came out fairly quickly although I must mention that there was only one other group of diners at the time. The guava rose sangria was delicious but serving was not generous as glass wasn't near full and had a lot of ice (I hope management reads this review and corrects this minor issue). My beer came in a large glass filled to the brim. Food came out shortly after. Let's not call this place a 'small plates' restaurant as their food came in medium sized bowls. By tapas standards, the portions were quite large and may I declare, utterly delicious. The roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon blends the 2 ingredients flawlessly. The cured meats - Serrano ham and Spanish chorizos - were freshly sliced and served along with succulent olives and toasted bread. The papas bravas with garlic aioli were perfectly seasoned and crisped. The octopus appetizer although well prepared and attractively plated didn't make my favorite list. For dessert, we had Basque burnt cheesecake and Catalan custard - both worth every diet-busting calorie - followed by an excellent cup of cappuccino. Servers were efficient and pleasant. There is nothing that I experienced on my first visit that would give me any reason to not call 'Tap and Tapas' one of my favorite places ever. It is that good. Find out for yourselves. read more
