Skewer beef

- AMAZING - reservations made online, we were seated promptly, service was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful - super trendy up scale Peruvian dining, very aesthetic and great for dinner 1. Arroz con Mariscos 5/5 - deep flavors, generously portion of octupus, so filling I loved this! 2. Papitas Tanta 4/5 - super crisp and soft inside - sauce tastes similar to egg yolk super creamy 3. Anticucho (grilled skewer, lomito) 5/5 - soooo delicious, fatty and great char - comes with potatoes too 4. Pulpo Anticuchero 5/5 - Absolutely delicious, the sauce and avocado was the perfect pairing - octopus was cooked perfectly 5. Empanada Trio 4/5 - perfect way to sample the different flavors - my favorite of the three was chicken - super crisp, very doughy and heavy

Loved the vibe of the rooftop and the food was so amazing and unique!! Actually my favorite thing we had (not pictured) was the crispy peruvian yellow potatoes. They were PERFECT!!! The scallops with the Parmesan foam were so fun! I loved my lychee pisco sour & being able to mix and match to make your own!

We got the rooftop and it was a great vibe up there. Also, I tried my first pisco, which was fun. My standout was the scallops with the Parmesan foam covering it. It was so good and the age of the Parmesan added a nice touch. The octopus was pretty tender a little bit fatty, but I loved the seasonings in the rice. It's like paella. Lamb chops are really soft and tender. Not pictured is the ceviche which were all really fresh as well.

Went for an early dinner on a Sunday, it was not busy at first but filled up pretty quickly. Hip and fun ambiance inside. Some tables are pretty tight together, so be sure to ask for separated table and seats if you wish to have more space. Staff were friendly, however not very attentive throughout our meal, hence the 4 stars. We ordered a little bit of everything to share and try: cebiche, empanada trio, lamb chop, arroz marisco and desserts. Portions were generous and goof for sharing, we ended up with some leftovers to take home too. Overall a delicious experience and would recommend!

Located on the rooftop with shaded and unshared with umbrellas dining room tables. Seating is limited. I enjoy the independence day party for $100 all you can eat and two drink tickets at 12p. There are tasty native non alcoholic options. I was disappointed the live entertainment started after I was leaving. Luckily one of the managers said I could stay for 15 more minutes. The live band, singer, and dancers were very festive. Last year the entertainment started around noon and I brought three peruvians and a girlfriend. The show was a huge hit last year. I was sad that the 3p reservations included live entertainment and not the 12p reservations for the same money this year. Its a bit unfair.

Came here for brunch with the girls and really liked it. I brought one of my friends who's Peruvian and she loved it too, so that was a good sign lol. I got the French toast and it was sooo good. Definitely sweet, but the berries helped balance it out and I ate basically all of it. The restaurant itself is really colorful and welcoming, and just has a fun vibe for brunch. Would definitely come back, especially for the French toast.

Came in here, a few weeks back for dinner with some friends. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, so we could not take advantage of their really cool looking balcony. From the beginning, our server was very attentive and walked us through the menu. She gave us several suggestions on dishes to order that would complement each other. Also strongly recommend or during the chips; everyone's food will come out as it is made, so it's nice to have something for everyone to share to begin with. Interior was really neat, and the music was not too loud or too quiet either which I always appreciate. We had several appetizer dishes, as well as the arroz Mariscos. The only thing I did not like about this place was that the food all came out a different times. The other couple that we were with had several of their dishes before we had anything. We did order chips to split at the table, so it's not like we had nothing to eat, but I feel like when restaurants bring things out as they are made, it lends to a weird dynamic between two different couples if you were ordering together. That being said, our food came out not too terribly long after the other couple's. Overall, great time here, and delicious food. Would happily come back!

My friend chose Tanta for Restaurant Week 2026 dinner and I'm glad she did! Really good Peruvian food & drinks. We had a reservation and they seated us right away - it's always a little tough to rate service during RW because it's usually quite busy and not a typical night but all the servers were very nice, we just had a slow start and there were a few times we were missing silverware but not a big deal. To start, I was glad to see they also had a pisco sour flight deal for RW and that was a big yes for me. It was fun to try the different flavors, but the classic was my favorite. I also tried a sip of my friend's guava cocktail, which was very tasty too. For food, they offered 4 courses starting with shrimp ceviche, which was *mwah* chefs kiss. Followed by the duck dumplings, which I also really enjoyed. I did not care for the fish katsu main but that probably comes down to personal tastes as it was overwhelmingly too tomato-y for me. However, redemption was served in the form of the lucuma brownie for dessert. We also ordered the octopus for the table to split and it was plated beautifully and cooked perfectly! There were many ingredients in the dishes I had not heard of or tasted before, which made this a unique dining experience. I would happily return to try more of their regular menu, and definitely recommend if you like Peruvian food. Just note $$ can add up quickly if you're ordering multiple dishes and drinks. And at least on a weekend night, music is a little loud and ambiance is quite lively. Cheers!

A Peruvian gem tucked away in River North. A nicer, casual restaurant with a Latin atmosphere. The presentation was gorgeous. Service was fantastic and the dishes were tasty and filling. We only got a couple of things, but I'd like to come back soon to try more of the menu!

My first experience of Peruvian food! This dish was so so so good. Stumbled upon this place while traveling and I'm so glad we did. Will definitely be seeking out Peruvian cuisine more often back home.

I had so high hopes for this place and maybe that's why I was a bit disappointed, because I was maybe expecting too much and it was just ok. The host to being with was the worse. She sat us down, brought 1 menu ( we were 2) and said she'd be back with the other ( and we are still waiting ) her phone was more important so she never gave us a second menu. The waitress talked like she didn't have a voice ( SO hard to even understand what she was saying) Food overall was good ( nothing to die for) Ceviches were delicious at least. Ambience good although when we got there there was only 1 more table, but I guess it gets better when it gets busier. Overall a good place, but there are other great Peruvian places in the city to try before coming back here

Chaufa Aeropuerto this was so delicious!!

Came to Tanta with my girlfriend and we had a ball!! The service was immaculate, and drinks were flowing and delicious. Then we had the anticucho de pollo and it was sooo good! I followed that up with the chaufa aeropuerto and baybeeee whew! The rice is perfectly cooked with savory veggies and doused in sweet chili sauce. Love that, it's was so dang good. I'll be back

Tanta offers authentic Peruvian dishes and drinks with a great menu. Offering a variety from the Peruvian liquor pisco, ceviche, empanadas, and other authentic dishes. A very warm and vibrant atmosphere that has colorful decor. We had reservations for Sunday morning which I would recommend. The staff and service was great and a great place to go for a special occasion.

Do they offer the tanta experience prefix every night or is it just one day out of the week?

When we went a couple of weeks ago, it was in the everyday menu. It is realy worth it, great experience, as in any of Gaston's restaurants. It was a lot food for two at a great price.

Dinner menu serves lunch time too?

No, the lunch and dinner menu are slightly different.

What is the dress code?

Anything goes. Chicago is a very casual town, as most places are these days.

How much is the Valet parking?

$20.

It's Always Great to Know the Bartender!…read more I've been to Cabra many times, and the rooftop remains one of my favorite spots in the city. The views are incredible, the drinks are fantastic, and trust me, there are plenty of options in West Loop, but Cabra definitely stands out. On this particular visit, my homie Doan was bartending, and I was meeting up with a friend for a little catch-up. We grabbed seats at the bar, which I always recommend if you can. If you're planning to visit, I'd definitely suggest making a reservation because everyone wants to experience that rooftop view! For food, I ordered the Saltado Beef, which came with potatoes, vegetables, peppers, and Korean barbecue-style steak. It was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the yucca fries, and we also shared both the beef and chicken empanadas. Everything was really good. And of course, shout-out to our amazing bartender, Doan, for making one of the best Old Fashioneds in the city! Overall, Cabra has everything you want: amazing ambiance, fantastic food, great service, excellent drinks, and one of the most beautiful views in Chicago. What more could you ask for? 5 out of 5 stars!

But overall, my experience was good and the happy hour is worth it! We got the Avocado Dip and the Rotating Cocktail which I believe was a Watermelon flavored drink. The guacamole for the avocado dip was so good! I highly recommend as a small bite to share for 2-3 people! The drinks were strong as well. I recommend trying to get seats for the terrace, so you get an amazing rooftop view! Service was good. I had to keep bumping up my reservation time due to time constraints, but the employee was so nice and accommodating! I recommend coming here and taking advantage of their happy hour menu, especially with a view that nice. Also, in the hotel where Cabra is located, there is a photo booth by the elevators. Make sure to take a quick picture there too!

I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home. The sauce was exactly what I expected: rich and flavorful. Service was good, especially for a small, family-owned restaurant. My only complaint was the water: When I asked for regular water, it tasted like it came straight from an unfiltered faucet, so I wasn't a fan of that. The good news is that they are BYOB!
