Great staff. I've been to the Gilbert and Tempe location and love both. They sell bronzer lotion there but a little pricey. They do have sample lotions to buy for one use tans which is great if you forgot your lotion. read more

While I had a membership, this place was perfectly fine. Got what I wanted out of it. However, I cancelled my membership in December of 2022 due to lack of use. Fast forward to September 2023 I started seeing charges for 4 consecutive months from TanMax on my statement. I went into the facility and made the girl at the front desk aware of this and she was very nice and apologetic. She called her manager, Brittany, who told her to take my name she would refund the charges the next morning. She also stated that there was a billing glitch which had created these charges (not sure why my info is still on file after cancelling but ok..) 3 weeks later I still had not seen any refund so I returned to the facility where the same girl sat at the desk and I told her I had spoken to her 3 weeks prior about charges that I hadn't made from TanMax. She again apologized and said she remembered and once again called the manager, Brittany. Brittany again took my name and also my number this time. I was told she would call that night or the following morning. 3 days later I hadn't heard from literally anyone. I filed fraud charges with my bank instead. $10 venation tan in fifteen minutes. My first tan booth and I choose Tan Max. Must admit warm place to enter as staff Ashley was professional with a great attitude. Tanmax - Tan booth - Tanning Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Very nice operation...Good value been going for years always friendly....Flat fee unlimited tanning

Great spot for a quick tan. Associates are very friendly and get you in and out very quick. Love the upright booths in n out in 10 minutes.

During these COVID-19 times it seems to me to have the staff paying more attention to the back of the house than chatting it up at the front desk. The restroom was dirty and when I leave the booth it would make me feel better to have one of the team members there to clean the stall and floor immediately. Show you care and stand apart from all the rest of these Tanning Businesses. read more

I have my monthly membership here and it's so nice. I go in once a week to get my spray tan to keep my color and to avoid the harmful rays of the sun. scan your key card walk right in they have all your settings set as well as a shower cap and a napkin. read more

I have been trying to cancel my membership since November 2021. I talked to three different people that work there and asked that my membership be canceled. However, I am still paying each month for a membership I do not use. I was even told a supervisor would call me, but I have never received a call. This place has the poorest customer service . I do not know what happened they used to be good. Lynn Gilreath read more

I used to come here when I lived here a few years ago and really loved it. They have since added spray tanning which is amazing! Super affordable, clean and the people are always so nice here. Totally recommend for all you tanning needs! read more

This place is horrible. They tried to make me look aggressive for canceling my membership and being upset because the new girl couldn't find my membership then had her boyfriend in the front spray so I had to go to the back. Must be the daughter of the owner cause I told them I wouldn't stand for it and I I have manager call me. I guess that's over aggressive. Then trying to threaten me with legal stuff lol. I have lawyers also. This place is garbage you can't call in cause they get so many complaints they don't want to deal with it I assume. Manager never called me. Celebrity tan so much better and only a couple dollars more. No waiting really ever and you can call if you think you left something or have an issue. Professionalism which tan max doesn't have and the spray booths seem to spray you even better just try both once and you decide. I have to drive a little more but it's worth it not to deal with immature managers who don't know how to run a business and don't really like their job I'm assuming. She did tell me that actually once or twice. Garbage service show your legal team is this one too. That tried to threaten me on google. So I'm writing one on yelp also. read more

I have had a really good experience here. I love the stand up beds and I am always greeted by a sweet young gal. They are always more than helpful and I have never had a billing issue. I usually tan a couple months on and a couple months off. I have never had an issue stopping my payment and then starting back up. They were very sweet to my girls who went there for there first spray tan and took the time to explain it very well. I do wish you could get a little discount if you bring in a daughter for a here and there spray tan and you pay for the top tan package monthly. I am on a break right now for a couple months but will definitely be back. :-) read more

Tanmax is great for the budget tanner. If you are low on cash and need some UV rays, this is the place. They have super low rates and always have space available. No waiting and zero upsale harrassment. They have only standups. I've used tanning salons in the pre-summer time for probably 15 years, and this is the only place I have left everytime smelling like burnt hair. I'm not sure if it's because they use cheaply intense bulbs, but I experienced this continuously (and I am not a hairy person LOL - I do have fine baby hairs - but granted, I have never experienced this at any other salon). The stalls are ok - not filthy and not amazingly clean either, the floors and mirrors could use a nice cleaning...stalls are just a super tight space that is dark and have a very small face mirror only. Hook on door to hang items, which is helpful considering the tiny space. There is a small stool in the stall as well. The first few times I used these standups I thought I was going to burn my skin off so I vacated before the max amount of time. I left feeling fearful of the intense heat (again, I am experienced, so this was bizarre) - only to not get any result. Intensely scary heat and zero color result. Huh. After a few tries I started to get some color, but the tanning is uneven. It seems the parts of my body that stick out closer to the bulbs (my calfs and thighs) got the most tan. Again...hmmm. I weigh 105lbs so this was odd. Staff is quick to get you in and out, which is cool, except their speediness sides on an almost rude aspect. The owner (maybe shes just a manager) is the worst with her valley girl talk, ignoring customers and talking crap about people in front of customers. Interesting experience for sure, but I won't be back. read more

I'm here for the summer and have been dying without my twice weakly spray tans back at home. I found that they offered a $5 first time spray tan and were the closest salon to offer versa (instead of the awful mystic) so I decided to try it. The staff was very friendly and helpful as they walked me through the colors the offer. Back at home I usually do 2 passes of the Versa with a bronze 4 and bronze 2. The girl explained to me that they don't have that kind of solution and recommended the Venetian formula for $5 more. I tried this one and was very happy. While I didn't get as dark as I expected, it still looked wonderful and went on very evenly. The room was clean and they even asked if I needed a hair tie. I would definitely return! read more

Great prices, lovely, helpful ladies, and a good over-all tan. Happy to have found you!

Cheap and quick tans. I use the spray primarily and avoid the UV lights. They have the Mystic spray tan system and the Norvell (which I think is much better). The girls who work the front are pretty ditsy and always on their phone or watching TV when I walk in though. Usually they have a friend hanging out in the lobby talking to them and it's awkward when they won't stop gossiping to said friend to address the actual customers who come in. Their lack of professionalism can be frustrating and add to the amount of time a visit takes, so beware if you come late at night. They're constantly talking about their friend and how crazy it is that she's dating that guy, and what she posted on Instagram, can you believe it!? If you want unlimited spray tans, it comes out to $44ish a month. read more

Love this place! Staff is super friendly and helpful, and they have new client deals for a spray as little as 5 dollars and a uv tan for a dollar! The spray machine has a voice talking you through everything making it super easy to follow, and it comes on even and natural. The monthly memberships are affordable and the salon is always kept neat and clean. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else! read more

Sincerely appreciate their low key sales approach. Thanks, ladies! :) read more

Let's be honest, even though we live in the Valley of the Sun - some of us are busybodies and don't have time to plank outdoors for hours at a time in pursuit of a bronze bod. So we cheat a little. Oh, and if I tried to avoid tan lines while laying out in my backyard my neighbors might have a few choice words to share. Tanmax is a no frills, get in & get out kind of place and that's exactly what I need. They have an unlimited tanning membership with zero down and no cancellation fee, all for $10.99/month. All "beds" are the stand-up type. They have music and big fans to cool you off. Max time is 8 minutes but I've only worked myself up to a 6 minute routine personally, in pursuit of a great base-tan before Hawaii in 1 week. They offer eye-ware and lotion but I don't partake in those. I supply my own lube and I trust my god-gifted eye lids. read more

Tanmax was literally my favorite tanning salon. Always clean, friendly staff, and great deals. I loved my color. The parking kinda annoying. I wish they had a locations in California! read more

What a breath of fresh air!! Let me start by saying Tanmax you are lucky to have such an exceptional employee. I was in last weekend and Lexi was helping me I accidentally overpaid by quite a bit, immediately Lexi noticed and handed me the money that I overpaid, then when I was finished tanning she handed me more money back because she and I both calculated incorrectly. I'd like to think that most people would do the same but unfortunately, that is not always the case. Not only is she honest, but she is always friendly, confident in her abilities and I would be proud to have her working for me. She is a KEEPER!!! Thank you, Lexi,, your amazing! Give the woman a raise she deserves it! read more

I went here for a pre vacation spray tan. I was hoping to find a tanning place that would become my regular spot, but this spot is definitely not it!!! WORST SPRAY TAN EVER! I will say the girl was very nice who helped me. Told me which tan she recommended (the more expensive one), gave me directions, etc. I followed her directions, didn't work out, didn't shower until the next day (over 16 hours later). It doesn't even look like I got a spray tan. I have two areas that look tan, looks ridiculous. I have had several spray tans before and this is by far the WORST! What a disappointment! Not to mention I know have to tan spots randomly on my body for my vacation. Will not be going back and will not recommend!!!! read more

Staff is friendly but not personable but who cares I'm going here for a tan not to make friends. So far after tanning a week I'm Already seeing results . The equipment seems to be taken care of properly. I have noticed the bars you hold on to have a finger prints and lotion on them sometimes ... only reason why I didn't give 5 stars makes me a little Leary if they are being sanitized properly after each customer. Best prices in town tho tanning starts at 9.99 I'm currently on the 19.99 plan. read more

I've been tanning at Tanmax for years and have recently moved out of state, whenever I come into town I head immediately to the salon! I was so excited to try their Venetian spray tan and was not disappointed! It's very natural and made me look like I have been laying on a beach in Mexico for a week. I'm so happy with my results and the super friendly staff that makes you feel like family is an added bonus! read more

Great tan, never have to wait but a few minutes for a bed. Girls are friendly and the place is clean. I would recommend highly.

They lock the doors ten minutes before and don't answer phones during normal business hours. When they saw me at the door before 9pm they went in the back. Horrible. read more

I just want to say I love tanmax. It's affordable and almost all of the girls are so sweet, especially Alyssa, Sarah and Brittani.I love them and they always make sure their customers leave happy. Lexi, on the other hand is extremely rude every time I go in there and has a very fake personality which she's made clear. I thought I'd give her a few chances but after today, I won't be going back there while she is working. She's rude & not personable. Working at a place like this, it's important to have a good personality :-) although i want to give this a 1 star BECAUSE of Lexi, i am giving a 5 star because Brittani, Alyssa and Sarah are always good to me. read more

I was really not happy with this place at all. If you're a first timer, I would suggest going somewhere else. I tried calling twice and no one answered both times. I came in for my first spray tan ever before my birthday trip. Which I politely told the front desk person I needed a little training. She took me to this room, which had horribly sticky floors, told me to position my hands a certain way & that I needed to put lotion on my palms and walked out. I had no idea which way to start because the foot markings say "place your back heel here" on both sides. The girl said "the machine will tell you what to do" but it gives you like 3 seconds to act or it's too late. It shot spray tanner in my face so hard in the beginning I choked on it. Just a horrible experience all around. My legs & body look good but my arms & hands are so discolored. I really feel like an employee should help someone know what to expect, especially if it's their very first time. Just glad I have a few days to shower this off before I leave. read more

Tanmax - Well this sucks.. haha - Tanning Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

The tanning booths themselves are fine, the front desk service leaves something to be desired but the real reason for a 2 star review is... DO THEY EVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE?! I shouldn't have to drive down and visit in person to ask a simple question. read more

Nice. Clean. Stand up booths if your tanning and very quick. But very intense. They have spray tan too so that's good

Great tanning place! Just came here to get a quick spray tan for my birthday. Staff was informative & sweet.

I signed up for a weeks worth of tanning to get just a little tan before I leave on vacation Saturday. There was a lot of stand up beds, I didn't see any regular lay down beds. The associate at the front didn't have me do any paperwork just asked for my ID. She never asked any questions about my skin type or if I burn easy or if I have a family history of skin cancer, nada! So she said "do you want to do the highest bed for 10 minutes?" The max time for that bed was 10 minutes! Uh no thanks. I told her I do not want to burn so she suggested "6-7 minutes" I said I'll do 6. I even said "are you sure I won't burn?" she promised me I wouldn't. Um I was as RED as a lobster!! My weeks worth of tan is a waste now because I have to wait that long for the burn just to go away. I called the manager to get my money back and was told he'd call the next day, well, I'm still waiting for that phone call. Save your money and go to a place that can educate you on how not to burn and get a gradual tan. read more

Every time I go here, the girls are so friendly and there is never a wait. I'm not one to admit that I go to a tanning salon, but I hate being out in the sun. There's never a wait, and they open up early on Weekend mornings. Highly recommend this place. read more

Great pricing for tanning bed. However, their tanning lotion is way over priced. I recommend getting it online
