It's easy to get appointment from Phil but everything went down hill from that day. I was looking at the fellow yelp reviews and noticed its pretty high review what can go wrong! But I was so wrong. Phil quoted me $238 for coming out to my resident to diagnose issue with my Noritz. He told me i need a repair of $1400 or new one for $2900 and will give me $100 credit as part of the $238. The next day, I asked him for the replacement model number. Phil send me a link from amazon showing a brand new one for $1200 OTD, I then ask him for discount or if he can just do installation if I get one myself. Phil stated I should look for someone else because he is "booked solid". It's hard to pay $2900 while item is only $1200. I feel he should refund me partial of that $238! My tankless water heater was not working. After some research, I decided to call Phil's Plumbing and try them out. When making an appointment, I asked and found out that the initial call would be at $235 for an hour worth of work (not including parts). This was higher than what I expected; however I went along as I had cold shower for 2 days already. A few months ago, I engaged a plumber to fix a leak underneath my house. He charged about $100 for his work. This is why I felt that $235 was high. The repairman arrived on time and he was courteous. He explained to me what he was doing. It turned out that a safety switch inside the water heater was tripped. He just reset the switch and everything was OK. He went on to descale and clean the water heater. I had a long standing problem with my Bosch tankless water heater; it would shut off while taking showers and the water would go cold. Many 'professionals' were consulted, but nobody was able to come up with a solution other than "replace the heater with our model and we'll charge you $3500". Needless to say that was not a solution for me since the heater was working fine otherwise. Enter Tankless Solutions! I contacted them through the Bosch website on a Saturday and lo and behold, I received a call from Phillip a few hours later. Instead of driving all the way out across the LA basin (and charge accordingly), he took his time on the phone to explain common problems with Bosch heaters and their solutions. By following his advice, this Bosch guru was able to fix my problem for once and for all, over the phone, on a Saturday, and charged absolutely nothing for it! I cant say enough about how much we appreciate Phil and his patience and expertise. Our Takagi tankless water heater wasn't working properly and we did not have consistent hot water. So, I had another company(that had been recommended to me) come out to service it with hopes that descaling and flushing it out would be all it needed. However, that was not the case. The technician was great, and ultimately, he was correct, but he recommended a new water heater and gave us some bids $2600-$4500. At that point I decided to have someone come out who was a certified Takagi technician, but he cancelled at the last minute and couldn't come back for 5 days!!!!!!! Thankfully, I found Phil on the Internet, and he came out the next morning. He meticulously checked every potential source of the problem, spoke with Takagi directly, and was able to replace the malfunctioning part(he had brought it with him just in case), right then. He asked me some questions and based on my answers, we decided we actually didn't need to go tankless. For our home and our situation, it wouldn't give us more of a benefit and would cost us too much. He explained in detail the cost breakdown and why I might be better off going with a new tank, even though he didn't install them. Phil took down my information. Promised he would be out the next business day, first thing in the morning and will call 30 mins before he arrives. He never called and no one ever came out. When i called them he made an excuse and then when he finally arrived 4 hours later he quoted a different price than one that was over the phone. When I had first spoke to him about the horrible service we had been receiving through our home warranty company, he guaranteed me that his company is very professional and they are nothing like those companies. Our Nortiz tankless water heater went out and we called up Phil's Plumbing for a service call. Phil promptly came out that evening and was a very knowledgeable guy. He advised that we replace the water heater with a newer Nortiz as ours was nearing the end of it's useful life. He also recommended installing a scale scrubber filter and upgrading the gas line to 3/4" directly off the meter. Their quote to upgrade the gas line was ridiculous so we decided to use them for the water heater replacement and the anti-scale filter. They came out a few days later to perform the work and everything went fine. At this point I would have given them 4 stars. We decided to upgrade the gas meter based on Phil's recommendation. When the city inspector came out he noted five items that needed to be addressed before the water heater installation would pass inspection. Our original water heater was installed in the same manner so I'm not putting all the blame on Phil for this. That said just because something was done wrong before doesn't mean it should be done wrong again. I would expect any decent contractor to complete the work up to code instead of repeating a substandard installation. Down to 3 stars. I decided to upgrade the gas line myself as it wasn't that big of a job. This was one of the items that the city inspector required anyways. $80 at Lowe's and 2 hours later I had the gas line upgraded to 3/4" from the meter to the tankless. Much cheaper than the $1,000 Phil quoted us. Parts+Labor+Liability is definitely going to cost more than the price of DIY but it shouldn't have been anywhere near their quote. 2 stars. After I fixed Phil's mistakes the inspector signs off on the installation and we get an upgraded gas meter. A little over a year goes buy and I notice something interesting in the anti-scale filter that Phil installed. Algae! I thought it was odd that they'd install a clear filter outdoors. It was only a matter of time before the sun caused algae to grow in the filter. Not to worry though as within a week the filter cracked and water began pouring out onto the side of our house. Good thing our tankless is mounted outdoors and it would have caused serious damage on an indoor installation. Also good that I was home when the filter cracked so that I didn't flood our neighbors yard. 1 star. I called up Phil's Plumbing to see what they could do about the filter. Since we were just outside of their 12 month warranty period we would need to pay $220 for a service call to install a new filter. Phil mentioned that they tell homeowners with outdoor installations that the filter needs to be encased or protected from the sun. Nobody told us this at the time of installation. Instead of paying shady Phil for more substandard work I purchased an anti-scale filter off Amazon for 30% of their service fee. 0 stars (if I could). So after fixing their work and installing a new filter I have a working, permitted, code compliant, tankless water heater. Sweet! It does vibrate quite a bit and when I called up Nortiz they mentioned that the gas pressure is probably too high. Perhaps this was caused by the upgraded gas line or maybe it was just another thing Phil did wrong. Hard to say but like everything else on this job I'll be fixing it myself since I want it done right. EDIT: So Phil called me back 12 hours after posting this. Quick response! Much faster than the call back I was supposed to get when he returned from vacation (which never came). I have the inspection letter and proof of maintenance on the system. At this point I've already fixed your mistakes so there is no benefit to me in providing these to you. The system is not neglected and I wasn't calling to make a service request. C'mon guy, you really think I'd use you again? I called about a replacement filter and you offered it as part of a $220 service call to install it. Not exactly the same as what you described on your response. I'm sure this 1 star review isn't helping your business but stop while your behind. read more

They arrived on time and completed the work to my satisfaction. I think venturing in to tankless water heaters is a little more expensive than a traditional water heater, but I must say, my family really appreciates having essentially unlimited hot water. I don't know what all of these people are complaining about because i've been Phil's customer for 10+ years now and i've never had a single problem. People also need to take into consideration that he is human like anybody else, and like anybody else people make mistakes. So let me explain my encounter with Phil since these people writing 1 star reviews have it all wrong. First off phil or his employees call well before they come or are en route to my home and arrive within a time bracket that has been previously stated. Tankless Solutions also sends out reminder cards for Tankless descaling, maintenance, and cleaning of burners as a yearly reminder depending on the previous work done to the tankless. Did i forget to mention there's discounts? Phil has offered discounts on yelp for a while now and that's rare in the business he's in, and local competition doesn't have as good of a reputation as Phil. Phil had sold me a rebuilt unit a couple of days ago and with preventative maintenance like anything else i hope the unit lasts the expectancy that it should by claims of the manufacturer. Phil came in on a weekend and he saved me when my tankless heater had failed on me. The day after I called him I found him bright and early at my doorstep well dressed and ready to get the job done. Now, Phil and his employees were well prepared before entering my home with booties on, they had put them on as i welcomed them in and surprised me with a clean carpet without any shoe prints. I've read these testimonials that seem unfair because from my past experiences with Phil, along with his employees, documenting everything that has been told to me along with things that need to be done. When a customer signs the estimate they acknowledge that they have been told of the information stated in the document. I mean come on people this is common sense if you lack common sense then obviously a bad review is the only way you know how to express yourself instead of communicating with the servicer. Employees such as Robert McGill which has been my technician in past jobs has explained procedures and diagnosing along with being very clear with what he's about to do to fix the unit itself. While i was at work Robert was able to explain procedures to my mom. My mom not being a technical person still got a detailed explanation that made sense and she understood it. Alongside this Robert had explained that he has a checklist to go through and diagnose the problem along with the pressure and flow on each and every fixture in my home. Although a bit annoying with constant shutting on and off of water, water running for longer periods of time this was all worth it because i haven't had any problems in the past few days of the fix. The parts arrived Friday and Robert showed up promptly on Saturday morning at 9. Two hours later, we were good to go and back in business. Not cheap, but reasonable. Had a bad Bosch go out on us during the recent downpour, and Phil himself came out to inspect the damage and provide a diagnosis. We ended up going with a new tankless, which was installed immediately - if you've ever been without hot water, you'll know how important this is! As a side note, our unit was difficult to reach, and Phil took the time to disassemble the fence, install the unit, then reassemble the fence without an extra charge. Hi, If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a plumber with experience in tankless water heaters. Well, you can stop looking. Phil is absolutely the man when you need an expert on these complex contraptions. My experience with fill started at the worst possible time ever! It was 3 days before new years. Wife calls me and says the water heater is out. So I start calling around and nobody, I mean nobody had the availability, experience, or desire to come to my help. Well, Phil didn't have the time either. He was booked up but being the good neighborhood professional that he is, he helped me troubleshoot my tankless heater. He realized that I was pretty handy and could tackle a troubleshoot like this one. Saved $200 After Troubleshooting my problem, Phil offered to sell me one of the parts off his old machines that was still working. Saved $200 and 3 days of shipping. Well, turns out, the entire circuit board was broken I was out of luck. And the heat exchanger was leaking. But Phil comes through again and gives me the phone number to Rheem (manufacturer) and tells me what to say to them to help me warrantee this POS heater! Saved $1,100!!!! So in all, Phil saved me $1,500 to $1,700, and about 5 days of waiting with no hot water. I only spent 3 days without water. I wish he did other stuff like roofing and carpentry. Phil did a great job on my tankless water heater. It wasn't working properly, he inspected the complete system and found a short in a external wire. He initially thought it might be in the temperature control. He could of replaced it but he persisted and found it was just a wire to the controller. I was impressed with his knowledge and honesty. He told me I needed to clean and de scale the system. I know it's supposed to be done annually it hadn't been done in 3 years since it was installed. Had to replace our 10 year old tankless Rheem unit for our townhome in OC. The technicians at TS are true experts. They understand that customers like us know very little about these things nor could we educate ourselves much online, which made us a little nervous. TS will give you a lot of information about what your options are and give you time to consider all of the information that they provide so you can make an informed decision that works best for you. They gave us a very thorough explanation and diagnosis of what was going on with our unit and showed us why it was no longer working right and it made a lot of sense. I had many questions about tankless water heaters and our technician was very patient and explaining everything in detail to me, which I appreciated. We were comfortable going with a complete replacement. Tankless units are more expensive than the more traditional water tanks but worth it to us. All of our hot water issues were immediately solved with the replacement Takagi branded tank. It has been four months since replacement and everything runs perfect. I highly recommend Phil's "Tankless Solution" with taking care of your tankless needs because I want to share my experience and don't want anyone else running into the same problems I did with using a regular plumber company. So here is the short story, last Sunday I notice a small leak with my tankless system. I did what most consumers would have done and that is to look on Yelp for a recommend company to handle the problem. I found one on Yelp and called the reputable plumbing company to make an appointment. They came Monday and said it would cause $225 to take it apart to diagnose and another $225 to reinstall which I said ok. They contacted Takagi to get a replacement part which was fine and dandy. On Wednesday Takagi send the replacement part but it was the wrong model. The plumber ended up calling back to Takagi about the wrong part shipped and was able to get a replacement the next day. So now its Thursday and we had the right part. I called the plumber guy to come back on Friday to reinstall the system. They started working around 12:30 pm and by 4:30 they told me they are unable to get it started up. However, they were kind enough to admit and apologize for the failed reinstall. They ended providing me with Phil's number and I called Phil right after the 3 plumbers left to schedule an appointment. The plumbing company also told me they would refund me all the money for the initial repair which was the least they could do. Keep in mind my family was going on day 5 with no hot water in the house. My wife had to boil hot water in order for us and our two kids 2/4 to take a bath. So now it's finally Saturday, Tankless Solution technician Robert arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. The $238 Tankless Solution charge was in no doubt money well spent as Robert was able to fix the issue in a timely manner and got my house with running hot work again. The moral to this story is, I should have used a specialize tankless repair company instead of a plumbing company to fix the tankless system.
