I know this place because a family friend helped renovated on it. It's pretty cute: purple ceiling (MY FAVE COLOR), gold walls with hand painted Art Deco, it's not Pro but good enough. Then a orange koala, just there, sitting on the tree chilling. Black wood bench, tall table with tall chairs (HEART) I like their back room the most, cozy and relaxing however the pillows doesn't match the painting nor the feel. It seems they're still finishing, there was some tools laying around, some loose paint chips and that loose nail. It's a clean place, considering its new :D Hopefully they will keep it neat, clean and clutter free and not overwhelmed their customers with 200 different drinks and food menus plaster all over their wall (don't be a quickly) Service was okay, there was 2 girls behind the counter, one elderly lady and a young lady, elderly lady looked at us and waited for the young girl to take our order. I don't know what that was about. Drink was ready within 4 minutes? they weren't busy so why 4 minutes for ONE DRINK. Practice makes perfect. Ummm ... Price is cheap (I think), range from $2.99-$4 (plus tax) from what I remember (didn't really care since I wasn't the one ordering, just wanted to seat and sneeze) First time- 3 weeks ago, free drink- regular milk tea with some pudding like substance (later found out its puffcream) I don't know what to think of it. Idea is original but taste was weird. Not bad weird but interesting. It was too sweet for my taste, but my cousin likes it (she's a sugar maniac) Second time- Earlier yesterday, Matcha milk tea with 'PUFFCREAM'... ummm straight up powder! Cousin got the bubble guts, you know that's not good. I stop drinking after 4 sips and she forced me to drink 3 more sips so it's not going to a waste and she tried to finish it. Third time- Yesterday night, went with friends after dinner, they like boba too. Ordered salted coconut milk tea, avocado milk smoothie and grapefruit black tea with lychee jelly. All 3 is a fail. Friends didn't like it. Salted drink had no coconut taste. Avocado milk smoothie- 5% avocado and 95% milk and ice. Grapefruit Black tea- flat, watered down and why was there lotus seed inside? Will not be purchasing my drinks here. Sorry : ( It's located in Chinatown, soooo parking will be difficult unless you're lucky enough to find and pay for meter or just parking garage (majority is $3 an hour or flat rate for $10/$15 or personal parking lot for $4/$5 an hour) I gave it 3 stars because it's a new place, clean and smelled nice. Price is cheap but for something that's bland yeah $2.99 is good enough. I came here because of the elephant-esque logo creature and was not disappointed by the actual drinks. Went at noonish on a Monday and the place was mostly empty, so no line or anything. I ordered the Kumquat Lemon Tonic with Green Tea and thought it was a very nice and refreshing drink. I was wary of the yogurt bubbles but they were really tasty. I think the tonic drinks are a pretty unique concept with satisfying execution, so I'd recommend trying those, especially if you're picky on your milk tea -- seems like some reviews on those are mixed! The place is large and the decor is nice and tasteful, with dark gold walls and black mural line art art. They have a customer restroom that seemed fairly clean to me. The only atmosphere aspect I wasn't into was the music, which is some kind of alt rock/noise subgenre that I'm not too fond of? But that likely depends on who's working. read more

+1 star for the decor +1 star for the taste of our drinks (mango slushy) -1 star for the girl at the cashier. I failed to read the menu to add toppings...I assumed my drink included boba. I wish she would've asked if I wanted a topping. Her voice was really soft and it was difficult to hear her. When my BF and I got to the counter, she didn't greet us or even smile. She made the situation worse when we waited for our change. My BF gave her cash and she failed to instantly return his change. She had the cash drawer open, register stated the amount of the change, but she didn't take action. Weird. (The change was significant- couldn't be considered to be a tip.) -1 star because it took about 10 minutes to get our drink even thought it wasn't busy. -1 star because my BF ordered one type of drink and got another. Friendly staff, clean and super kawaii interior, and the drinks -- OMG I'M OBSESSED. I got the Uji Matcha milk tea (75% sweetness level) with agar and it was so freakin delicious!!! I will try it with the foam next time. I was able to try the Matcha Latte with puff cream and Jasmine Green Tea milk tea and they're both SOOOOO good too! I was pleasantly surprised to try popping boba in my drink. I enjoyed my lemon kumquat drink very much. You can adjust the sweetness of your drink to your liking. There's an April 2016 promo for BOGO 50% off drinks and you can join the 5star membership to get free drinks after purchasing a certain number. There is a large study/lounge space inside and two tvs. It may be cool to have some board or card games in the lounge area. While I do enjoy my share of chicken wings and French fries, I do wish there were more snack options besides fried foods. Today was the first time trying out this new place. I ord ered the Jasmine green milk tea with lychee jelly. I didn't expect the drink to be green. The taste was bland and tasted like matcha green tea. They have limited drinks compare to other boba places. I feel like the drinks can improve. I'll give the other drinks a try and see next time! Finally got to try HiTea! My friends have been telling me to try them since they opened. The decor is super cute! I love that it is super spacious and aren't like all the other boba stores. Extra stars for the comfy couches in the back for me to study or play games :) I ordered the peach oolong tea with milk foam and it was freaking amazing!!! I have to disagree with the yelper below. I've come to Tancca to grab some milk tea a couple times after work and have not been disappointed. The place is not hard to find as there's a giant orange koala sign outside in this Chinatown area. The milk tea is not exceptionally good, but not bad as well. It's a bit on the sweeter end so I would ask for less sugar unless you are in the mood for ultimate sugariness. The big plus about this bubble tea spot is that it has a clean and modern feel and has a pretty decent amount of seating in the back. I would recommend Tancca for those looking to sit down with a cup of boba in Chinatown to possibly chat with some friends or just chill. read more

My boyfriend and I was just walking around Chinatown and noticed this cute little milk tea place! My boyfriend doesn't really like milk teas, so he opted for a strawberry snowy and I got the recommended assam milk tea with puffcream. It took a second for me to really get into how th e puffcream tasted, but it definitely goes very well with the milk tea. My boyfriend thought the strawberry snowy was really refreshing and felt like they used fresh strawberries. The interior is super cute and it looks like the designs on the walls are drawn instead of using decals. Overall, or experience was great and we will be back to HiTea! read more

Came in for oolong milk tea with boba 50% sugar. The drink itself overall was really watered down. It had more ice than oolong milk tea. The flavoring overall just tastes too down and tastes more like water. Other than that, customer service was fast, drink was ok but they really need to improve on making the taste more attractive instead of it tasting more like water. read more

Tried the matcha latte with puffcream and it was not good at all. It barely had any matcha in it and felt very watered down. When I got the drink I thought hmm it was barely green, but I thought it would be like the matcha milk tea from Gong Cha (which was barely green too). That was not the case. All I tasted was sweetness and I asked them to make it less sweet. The puff cream was different, maybe because I had never had it before but I decided it was not for me but might be for other people. Overall, I am not a fan. I would come back to see if it would be any different but it does not look like it from the other reviews. Minus one star for being overly sweet when requested less sweet. Minus one star for barely tasting the tea and being watered down. Minus one star for there 5 stars being down. read more

I haven't tried everything on their menu yet, but I'm in love with their Matcha Latte Puff Cream and Asam Milk Tea! I If you get the puff cream, make sure to get a lower percentage of sweet than you'd usually get because the puff cream makes the drink really sweet. Visited this place a few times after being disappointed by the staff the first time I came here. I always order their jasmine milk tea with boba and puff cream. It's one of the tastiest, creamiest drink. I suggest ordering 50% sweet for milk tea when having it with puff cream because it can get a bit too sweet. I came here after seeing someone snap a picture of the Matcha Puff Cream. I was intrigued and had to see what this puff cream was all about. The store itself is really cute, the wall had illustrations on it.
