So I moved over 30 minutes from town and my previous place was no longer going to be feasible. So I looked for a new one close to work and found Tan Etc. They had the best pricing and reviews out of the three I was looking into. However, once I first went there I was more than sold that this was the place for me. The girls are SO nice and helpful and even let me use their personal lotion when I signed up as I hadn't prepared to tan that day!! To me that is going a little above and beyond. And they have been just as great since then months later. Customer service is always one of my most important needs and they have been impeccable in my opinion. Very expensive monthly charges for very narrow and uncomfortable beds. The only way you can cancel your membership is to go to the facility and cancel it. Makes it real inconvenient for the customer and very convenient for them to continue charging you. Not satisfied at all!! Besides tanning beds aren't good for you and you can use a tanning moisturizer daily and get the same effect as their spray tans. Additional note; You cannot cancel your membership at the store. You actually have to write to an address in Dripping Springs to cancel your account. Never again! read more

I have been using Tan Etc. since I was in high school and I am a big fan of their salons. The memberships are competitively priced and a great value. They have lay-down beds, standing up beds, spray tanning, Versa and mystic tan. They have multiple locations in North and South Austin, which is extremely convenient! First time doing the spray tan. I had to schedule an appointment with Diedra and when I arrived, she brought me to this tiny closet where I was given some very basic instructions. It was an odd experience and when I got home, I noticed the bottoms of my feet had been exposed. I called to ask if this was normal and she said it was. After about Day 2, the tan became visibly bad, where certain parts were rubbed off and the bottoms of my feet were terrible. I tried all sorts of different solutions and scrubs and pumas stones to no avail. Diedra did mention they just started the spray tanning, so maybe they are getting their "feet wet" still! read more

Was accused of stealing because they couldn't find a lotion I had looked at before even going into the room. I review the camera with her and was told to step back to where I could barely even see this was after I was ransacked walking out of my room. When I came out I was told my card was going to be charged and this and that I didn't even understand what was goin on I was talked to like a criminal like a child before I was being accused and the woman would not check me either , I emptied my bag on the counter told her body search me I didn't care had nothing to hide wasn't even wearing a bra . I felt this was racial as well because I was not even given the benefit of the doubt. I had been using the red light treatment I have purchased numerous products and to be treated so poorly and talked to crazy is very unprofessional and just disgusting . she wouldn't look around for it , wouldn't talk to me about it just told me it wasn't her problem and that I was going to pay for it . Love them...I have been tanning here for over 3 years & have nothing but great things to say. From the top management/owner, to daily customer service girls, the people really take care of you & are always so friendly. They have a variety of UV beds and a Mystic tan and both give great results. I do a Mystic once a week and love it- it complements the regular tan nicely. I have been on the auto-draft program since I signed up here years ago & have not had any problems. If you walk in for a Versa (spray) at 7:46pm on a Friday they will tell you they're closed. I drove 25 minutes in traffic to go there, out of my way. Quite frankly the Friday and weekend hours are ridiculous because that's when you need to go. I'm not wearing a bathing suit on Tuesdays. Come on! I've had to go pay one-off tans at other salons more than several times now. I'm considering cancelling after years with them just because of the silly hours. Makes no sense. Tan Etc., please close early Mon Tues Wed when nobody needs it, but for goodness sake stay open the latest you possibly can Thu Fri Sat and Sun. read more

Excellent location with great staff. Clean, hot and huge beds(Premier). Tan etc unlike other salons changes bulbs frequently-. The autodraft billing is an excellent feature so I never forget a bill. They make it easy to freeze my membership for the summer too. read more

I've been a customer here for ten years. Never bought a month-to-month membership, but rather packages of 10 at a time, because I tan infrequently. To date, they have always been friendly and knowledgeable. Today, not so much. Tan Etc. previously had info for customers with packages as opposed to memberships kept in an index card box. Now those names are (supposedly) in the computer, except that mine wasn't. The girl in there today hadn't heard of the old system, had only worked there a month, but was supercilious about how things work there. I had to fill out new paperwork, fine, but did not put my phone number on the release form because I just don't give it out. She wrote a big "REFUSED" in all caps and underlined in that space. I mean, honestly. Might be a good idea when you change systems to let new employees know what returning customers might ask about, and when someone has been a customer for a decade and you've worked there a month, maybe take their word for some things and don't be so pompous about knowing everything. I hope the learning curve improves. read more

You can't be the price, but you get what you pay for...The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. They close at 9, but take the last tan 15 minutes before hand and then they will only let you tan for 10 minutes because they "have to leave at 9". If the employees leave at 9 then you really close at 8:30. read more

I like Tan Etc on Far West better than the Braker location. They have lots of beds (10 rooms, I think) and you rarely have to wait. I like that they have a stand-up bed which can be hard to find. My only issue is the hours. They open a little late (9am at the earliest, noon!! on Sunday) and close fairly early (9pm is the latest, 6pm is the earliest) which sometimes makes it difficult to get there. The staff can seem a little stand-offish at first but I've been tanning almost every day for about 6 months and they warm up after a while. Now if only they could try to remember my name. read more

I'm surprised to see the poor reviews. Their fees were fair and they offered one-offs, which is hard to find. I called one day, asking for availability the next day (I was leaving for my wedding that afternoon!) and they accomodated my schedule. I got an airbrush tan, which turned out fantastic! It looked great, and my experience was very professional. I'll for sure go back if I ever need to dull those jog bra tan lines again! read more

Be aware, if you have to cancel, they are such a pain the rear to cancel with.. You have to cancel in writing and by the time they get the notice, you will have to pay approx 2 months worth of tanning. We found out my wife was pregnant and per dr to stop tanning and sent in the written cancellation since they don't take it over the phone and have been charged 2 months worth. What a waste, and poor customer service. read more
