Pros: We didn't have a reservation and they found us a table quickly which I really appreciated. I had the prime rib special which was very good and my husband had a chicken and pasta dish which he liked. Our server was nice, knowledge and very efficient. The restaurant has an air of being a community favorite and isn't a chain which is nice. Con's: The room was pretty loud; but it was full and a Saturday night. The horseradish sauce tasted like plain mayo to me. I ordered a French 75 (my go to) cocktail that was just meh, wouldn't order again. We will definitely go back probably not on a Saturday. read more

What a beautifully intimate venue with the restaurant downstairs and the theatre upstairs with shows upstairs! All the staff was very friendly and engaged!! We started with appetizers of two of the dips offered. They were both rich and creamy. Our entrees were also delicious. All food was well prepared and good portion size. We were so full we opted out of dessert but in looking at ones at nearby tables, I'm sorry we missed them. We did opt for the chocolate martinis to end our meals. We were skeptical at first because we thought it was not a restaurant from the outside and thought we may have had the wrong address but it was extremely cool how it was so private feeling once we entered and knew we were at the right place. It wasn't quite a speakeasy kind of feeling but had a secretive selective feeling where the patrons were most likely regulars and an upscale feel but not an overly priced menu. We started with drinks, old fashioned for the husband and I had a glass of wine which is a rare thing but it was a perfect pairing with my Brian's Chicken. It came with a salad or soup and I chose the house salad with a citrus vinaigrette and the wild rice side. My husband chose the Tilapia Piccata which doesn't come with a salad or soup, just a side and he chose the roasted mashed potatoes. We had rolls served and then selected a key lime pie for our dessert. The waitress was older, less friendly but consolidated her trips and was timely so that's a plus. She could stand to smile and seem more thankful for guests or her presence of being there but maybe something was a miss in her world so we just enjoyed the time we had without the interruptions but being in the service industry in the past my self, I know first-hand that smile and friendly face upon greeting a table does have an impact. The noise was about average so some jazz or music in the background would be helpful to allow for less availability to overhear the tables surrounding one another possibly. There was a table of ladies maybe enjoying ladies night and it seemed we could hear them quite frequently but they appeared to be enjoying their night so no bad feelings towards a group enjoying their evening. What an excellent little spot tucked out of the way. Was invited by a vendor when she chose our spot for lunch. We both had salads & sweet tea. Grilled chicken on one & salmon on the other. Hands down the best restaurant in Cumming! This place has everything you're looking for including amazing food, friendly and prompt service all in a setting that's unique and formal enough for a special occasion but not so much that you have to wear a suit (I hate suits). There isn't anything you need to avoid on their menu, it's all really good but here are my favorites. To start with, I love their seafood stuffed mushrooms and crab bisque. As an entree, the pecan crusted trout is amazing but I also really like roasted duck ravioli. Their desserts look amazing but I've never had one myself, always to full after enjoying a great meal. Even if you're not close to Cumming, GA this place is worth the drive because of the amazing menu and cool, unique setting. We really enjoyed our dinner. Such a great atmosphere. We made reservations & were seated upon arrival. The hostess seated us in a booth & was very friendly. They have a large cocktail & wine menu; I selected a Chardonnay. Our server, Kim, was prompt & came by several times even though she was very busy. The house salad with blue cheese vinaigrette was tasty. Hubby enjoyed his Caesar salad. He had the Rib-eye which he said was a great steak & I had the baked salmon in lemon butter & Sun dried tomatoes. It was fresh & delicious. Was in GA visiting family & on my last night there we decided to do dinner at Tams. The scenery was unique due to the theatre decor. I ordered a lemon drop and it was perfect. We came here as a group of 5. We all had the Stuffed Flounder + Steamed Vegetables. The flavor was amazing. As a Cajun from Louisiana, I had some reservations on the flavor, but I was wrong. The fish was beautifully deboned and the vegetables had decent seasoning. We finished with the Crème Brûlée which was detrimental to our calorie restraint. The entire dining experience was great! We came on a Monday night, so there wasn't a wait. The service we received from Amber was great, too! Our first time here, we frequented the other Tams Tupelo (now closed) for quite some time. It must be prom night here as there are many youngsters all decked out for the evening. Short version: seated quickly with reservation, place was nearly full. Waitress came quickly and took our drink order. our apppetizer, calamari, entree roasted duck ravioli and carbonara pasta, added the three sausage creole gumbo side. The gumbo was very tasty, a light colored roux but great spice and flavors with some heat, very good. Both our entrees yielded leftovers as well and were very tasty, everything was very flavorful and spiced just right for our taste. Bread. Fresh out of the oven tasted yeast. Dessert key lime pie. Service and food were fantastic. We were done in 90 minutes. Priced very reasonable. Long version: we arrived at 6:25 for our 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. Only 2 tables open downstairs. Our waitress Kim came over to offer us drinks. She was back quickly and ready to take our appetizer order, and we ordered calamari. Prior to bringing out our appetizer, she took our entree order. We ordered the roasted duck ravioli, and I ordered the carbonara pasta, and we both added the three sausage creole gumbo side. When our appetizer arrived, it was very hot and a lot of food, enough for another meal. The breading was perfectly thin and crispy, cooked perfectly with a marinara dipping sauce that complimented the flavors, a very tasty appetizer. We did have to ask for bread, and the taste was heavy on the yeast. It was still good. Our entrees came and wow, very tasty. We finished up with a slice of key lime pie that had very good sweet and tart flavor, a perfect way to end the meal. A very nice evening service and food were great. A few items are worth mentioning: Between the booths is a 3" wood place where a waiter at the table next to us kept slaming empty glasses down instead of holding onto them, very distracting and annoying since it was right at my shoulder. The AC has one main duct, and it blows cold and far, but when it goes off, the temperature is comfortable. The guy next to us put on and took off his jacket no less than 5 times during our meal. So if you are prone to getting cold, come prepared. A small thing but important to me, my water was empty for quite a while before someone noticed. The last thing was, we had to ask for bread. Other tables got a basket with butter, where we got two rolls on a plate. I'm not sure what that is about. We will be back as those are all small things but annoying at the same time. read more

Had high hopes for a nice dinner out with my wife, but our experience left quite a bit to be desired. We had the carbonara as well as the crab cakes along with a Caesar and house side salad. The carbonara was soupy and loaded with oregano which is not a traditional flavor. Still picking oregano out of our teeth. The crab cakes were very dry and obviously made with an ice cream scoop. While the crab cakes had ok flavor and lots of crab, the sauce was on the plate and minimal. Overall our meal left us unsatisfied. To top it off, the server was not very attentive with no drink refills and an extended wait for the check. This place might be ok for lunch, but definitely not fine dining. read more

We absolutely love Tams and will always come back. It's a staple for us. The staff and the owners are all wonderful plus the food is amazing. Huge shoutout to the team the last few weeks as I know they've been crazy busy with everyone coming to eat before headed up to the theater. They always get crazy busy when there's a show and they handle it so well. We were sat promptly and got our wine and food with speed and care! Everything was delicious. The crab bisque is something we get EVERYTIME. Don't miss out on it! We also love their salmon and seafood obviously. If you like steak their ribeye is amazing and something easily shared. The atmosphere is eclectic. Decor is warm with exposed brick and old posters. The shrimp and grits were absolutely amazing. The andouille sausage crisp yet tender, the shrimp blackened to perfection & the grits seasoned were fork-worthy and topped with cheese and onions. One of my favorite renditions of this southern staple, The burgers are huge and cooked to order. Topped how you like, it's hard to eat more than half. Excellent! read more

We used to love Tam's, however the last two times have been underwhelming. The mussels were fishy tasting, with no flavor to the sauce (in the past this was not the case at all) - the chicken parm has a spicyness to it and we just weren't overly impressed.
