PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE!!! My cousin took her dog here today and she witnessed a groomer mistreating another dog who was not misbehaving or anything. She janked the dogs body and yelled at it "I don't have time for this!" The poor dog yelled out in pain. When she mentioned it to the receptionist she told my cousin that the groomer had to show the dog who is boss??? Wtf!! this is disgusting behavior! My cousin will not be returning. read more

I recently brought my long-haired Siamese cat, Monroe, to Tammy's Tender Touch for her first grooming experience, and I couldn't be happier! Monroe had some large mats on her lower back that were causing hotspots, so I gave her a little acepromazine beforehand. She handled it so well, thanks in part to the calm and quiet environment at Tammy's Tender Touch. I was pleasantly surprised at how peaceful the space was, even though they were fully booked. All the animals were calm in their cages, which was perfect for Monroe, who had never left the house before. This is a huge contrast to another groomer I visited in Mesa, where loose dogs created complete chaos. Tammy's Tender Touch is conveniently located right down the street from me, making it easy to drop off my cat for a quick grooming session. Monroe got a lion cut, and today I brought in her brother Frank. There are four siblings in total, and they'll all be getting the same treatment. After bringing Monroe home, I could tell she felt so much better--she was rolling around on the pavement and seemed in great spirits, with a noticeable mood boost after getting rid of all that extra hair. Plus, I'm relieved to have less cat hair to vacuum every day! The prices here are extremely fair, and I'm so thankful to have Tammy's Tender Touch in my community. We love Tami's! Our dog Zara usually dreads grooming, but this is the one place she actually walks in with her tail wagging--at least until she remembers what's about to happen, haha. Still, she always ends up having a great time, and when we pick her up, that tail is wagging just as much as when she went in. The groomers consistently do a fantastic job and really listen to what we want for her. They're also so friendly and always recognize Zara the moment we walk in, which is such a sweet touch. So very disappointed in Tami's, and will not be going back.. Had brought my at here before, and they were very good about understanding my request. Today, it all went wrong. Spent a good deal of time with the young lady explaining what I wanted done, she explained what they could do, and I thought I we communicated clearly. I specifically noted that he had some "knots" in his long fur, and couild they shave those out. She said they could, and when I asked for an estimate of time for pickup, she clearly said around noon or 1:00. I called at 12:45 pm, and the same young lady said my cat was "still drying." At 2:10 pm, she called to say he was ready for pickup. When I went to pick him up, I put my hand inside to pet him, and not only was the knot still there, but it was larger than when he went in! Clearly they started to try to take it out, but stopped. The woman behind the counter said "they were told NOT to shave the area, which was definitely NOT what was discussed. I have no idea what miscommunication happened between the young lady at the counter and whomever did the grooming on this cat. Instead of calling and clarifying with me, they just did not do it. Now, they offered to do it right then--but by then, the poor cat has been there since 8:15am in the morning, and I was rather annoyed that this issue wasn't mentioned when I called to ask about him. In addition, no one mentioned it to me when I came in to pick him up. I take it they just hope you forget and don't notice. I find that totally unacceptable. I don't know what has changed there, and I am sorry to say I will not be taking him back there and I do not recommend anyone take their animal there if there is this kind of communication issue and unwillingness to verify what was asked for. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the service at Tami's Tender Touch. When I came to pick up my dog, I was told by Myra that my dog had a small nick under her arm and that they put powder so it doesn't get infected. After I paid, she brought my dog out and as I inspected her more closely, I discovered that it was actually a large, severely cut chunk of skin with no powder on it. This was not a minor injury as she claimed, but a serious wound! She said it happens all the time and that I shouldn't worry. I've had dogs for the last 35 years and never had my dogs get nicks or cuts from grooming. To make matters worse, when I put my dog down on the floor to put her leash on, I noticed blood prints on my clothes and the floor (and later, after I left, all over my car seat and then all over her dog bed). They also had cut her paw, and didn't mention it to me. I was incredibly distressed with the lack of care. She offered me a full refund and said that she was trying to be honest about my dogs condition. But she downplayed it, big time! I told her that I would compromise with them and give some of the money back to them because they did provide service, even though, they injured my dog. I would've appreciated the honestly more if she didn't downplay the issue as a small nick from the clippers. I started coming here because it was affordable at $52 and recommended by my vet but I should've known that I get what I paid for. I will not be returning and would strongly advise others to think twice before bringing your pet here. See photos of my pet and let me know if you think I'm overreacting. read more

Xochi is my cat. He's been going to tami's since he was a little guy. He's 11 years old now. We took him to get his usual spa day. He always came home strudding. But this time, he came home scared and hiding. Took place on May 23, 2024. On top of all this he has a couple of nicks on the back of his head/neck area. So I called Tami's tender touch. Come to find out "Tami's " is retired. This was the worst. The lady I was talking to was very confrontational and then she said he came in like that. OMG. I lost it. She didn't care about Xochi. Tami I would advise you to make these new owners change the name of Tami's Gentle Touch to protect you. Because it's not anymore. Now the search is on for a new groomer for Xochi. read more

We've taken my Maine Coon here twice with great results. She had longer hair that tends to get knotted and the staff are able to clean her up and clip her nails without any drama. On the date of your appointment you can drop your pet off between 8 and 10; I like the flexibility this allows. Highly recommend. read more

First off, I want to say that I really appreciated the fact that they were open during the Pandemic as many other businesses are not. My regular groomer is no longer available and my 2nd choice is not open so when I saw that Tami's was I booked an appointment for my little old Bichon Frise. She had never been groomed there before, only a teeth cleaning, which resulted in my dog "biting her own lip" and was bleeding when I picked her up. I chalked that up to a dog being a dog and not liking her mouth being poked and prodded so that was water under the bridge. But maybe not so much after seeing how my dog turned out after a very standard grooming. My instructions were simple: 1) Shes VERY OLD, going on 17, and fragile, so please, first in and first out. (I dropped her off right at 8 am) 2) She doesn't need a bichon hair cut, a simple trim, bath, blow out, nail trim and expression is what she needed 3) I did say that the groomer should use their best judgement in terms of the length 4) I live right around the corner so call me as soon as shes ready and Ill come and get her Well, approximately 3 1/2 hours later I'm wondering whats going on? And finally, I get a call at noon that shes ready. I picked her up and she is completely shaven. I'm thinking to myself, okay, its hot and shes probably happier so no big deal. Then Tami proceeds to tell me that she wouldn't sit still on the table so they didn't blow dry her. That's not good, she has very tight corkscrew hair that needs to be brushed out so she doesn't get matted. Its actually the most important part of the grooming in order to avoid matting.I paid the 45 dollars and went home thinking that this groomer isn't a good fit so Ill just bathe her myself until my groomer opens back up. When I got home, and upon closer inspection, I was shocked! Her right ear had 2 mats-one underneath and one in front-clearly visible. Her haircut is totally uneven-there are pieces of long fir and shorter areas all over her body. Its as if a child got a hold of clippers and randomly ran them across her body. Her legs were NOT brushed out so shes already getting matted (1 week later). She did not look good at all! I read another review from an unsatisfied customer who said that Tami was defensive and hung up on them when they called to complain so I'm not going to call, I don't need the stress, I just need a professional groomer who wont send my dog back looking like a mess. Reviews are honestly hard to do. You want to be respectful and considerate, but also honest. I personally want people to read a review that, I pen, to see the reality and pure kindness from a particular establishment. Dare I say may be even love? Tami's Tender Touch is a place I can highly recommend. We have been going here for years and in fact so many years we knew and loved Alice and gosh we loved her smiling face every time we walked in the door. We have had several dogs brought to Tami's for her tender loving kindness. Two dogs in fact. (Emmi and Lady). Emmi was a 12 lb miniature Doberman pincher and she thought she was a 10' tall horse weighing in at 356 lbs. Lady on the other hand was a 27 lb Beagle that never howled and was made with angel fairy dust. Tami and her staff watched those two beauties grow up from puppies to elderly pups and then on to heavens green playground. Ok, that was an exaggeration. Everyone knows Emmi is raising Hell and driving Satan literally mad right now. And in fact if we all know Emmi, she's raise an army of darkness to take over the depths of HELL and once Emmi takes over hell, she will march onto Heaven, earth and then the universe. Right now, Lucifer is pleading with God to "please I'll do ANYTHING! Just take this demon off my hands!" Of course Lady our beloved Beagle is definitely in heaven looking down at Emmi and hoping for "God sake don't let that demon Emmi free. The apocalypse of the four horsemen will be released." After our furry babies were taken from these earthly bounds, it did take a few years to regrow my broken heart and adopt another dog and now I have two dogs again. I don't say this lightly either. There is a reason why Tami's has been in business for so long and why I returned to Tami's with my new furry babies (Maya an 110 lb Anatolian and Sally a 60 lb Catahoula Pit mix). It's because I know Tami and her staff care for our furry babies, as if they were their own. Maybe something does go wrong (from your perspective), but Tami will go out of her way to try her best to resolve the issue. (remember I'm being honest here), but the fact remains, Tender Touch means something to Tami and her staff. They wash, they cut, trim, pamper, use soap/water, dry them off and do anal gland expression (ok that's nasty) (please give them extra tip for that, seriously gross), but with all that, Tami and her staff do, you know what I witness? Love! I see them talking to our babies. If your little fur ball is upset and crying, they don't just yell and curse, no, they talk to them and let them know that it's ok. Our furry babies attach themselves to us. They learn to trust us. Those little beasts show affection when we don't deserve it and we intern take care of them with all our hearts. And how amazing is it, right here in La Mesa we have a place that will care for our furry babies with all the tender touch in the world. Yeah I highly recommend Tami's Tender Touch. read more

I came here twice a year ago. We never went back because both times, our dog's ears were left scraggly and with a lot of stray strands that were not shaved in alignment with the rest of it. Their work is subpar and it is obvious that they have a lot of new people working there. This wouldn't be an issue if someone in charge looked over their work and perfected it, but they gave our dog back to us with so much stray fur. It was pretty bad. Hard to find cat groomers. They typically don't need it. But I have a double coated, obese 15 + yo Maine Coon diva who just can't keep herself clean anymore. I brush her daily bit the mats still form around her nether regions. Tami and her team gave her a sweet lion cut and she is a happy kitty. The staff is friendly, but the service is awful. Both my dogs came home smelling like wet dog, with stray hairs everywhere. One dog came home with a cut on his tail, it looks like the kennel door was shut on it. Neither dog was de-shedded and that was apparent by all the hair STILL shedding when they came home. I will never return, and I would not recommend this place. It literally looks like they sprayed them with water, brushed them for a minute and threw them in the kennel. 0/5 stars if possible. read more

So this is literally my first bad review ever. I'm not a fan of doing these things, but today I was very bummed out about my Yorkie. My husband dropped him off and told them what we wanted, but when I picked him up he looked trimmed up, but not much shorted than when we took him in. After really looking at him, I became more and more disappointed because I realized that they just trimmed him up with scissors and it was a horrible patchy job. Then his face was still long and had random long and short pieces all over him. (Wish i could have taken pics) I probably could have done a better job, honestly! Lol! So when we took him back and ask them if they could cut his body shorter, it was too long and patchy and if they could do it with clippers so it's even. Then to please just trim his beard a bit more. They said, sure call you when ready. I knew the lady had gotten a bit annoyed with us walking in with him. But anyways, when we picked him up I couldn't believe what they had done!! I guess they got pissed off and shaved him all around including his face! A different lady was like, "it's easy to take off, but can't put it back on." We didn't say anything when we saw him, just grabbed him and left. As we walked home, I was so upset!! He looks like a totally different dog! You can't even tell he's a yorkie! My husband said he looks like a chihuahua now. Haha! I can't even look at him, my poor boy. They cut off all his beard/ facial hair everything!! Never again will we be taking him there. I'm sure they do a good job with other breeds, but not with Yorkies. Good luck if you take your fur babies there! read more

I took my labradoodle puppy to this place because he had wood ships imbedded in his bottom coat, maybe 7 at the most. I thought a former would know best how to get the wood chips out once I realized this was happening. This is my first dog and Tami said we may have to shave him. I thought she meant the undercoat as there was no problem on his top coat. When I picked up my puppy Tami was acting really nice- opposed to how I was treated when I dropped him off. She pulled my puppy from a top cage in another room which I could see through a window. I thought- that's not my dog, that's a poodle! But sure enough, she shaved him all the way down to an 1/8th of an inch to his skin, but left his ears and tail alone. I couldn't believe it! Since then I have researched on shaving Labradoodles and this should Never be done. Shaving can increase your labradoodle's allergies because there is no longer a coat to protect them from all of the irritants that your labradoodle can get from the bacteria and weather conditions. Shaving their coat exposes them to the sun and elements, making them vulnerable to sore spots, fleas, ticks, and other parasites, and increases their risk of skin cancer. Needless to say I will Never bring my dog back to this place. Not only should she have known better but now my poor dog has to suffer the cold because he has no hair! Shame on you Tami! read more

If I can give zero stars I would, terrible job on fur dogs. How in the world she (Tami) has good rating is beyond me. I'm a stickler for life when I find a great groomer and was thrilled to see her ratings which now I know are pure hogwash. Her heart is not in the right place when doing her job. I recently moved to the neighborhood and drove by Tami's. Not even looking at reviews I called for an appointment, hoping for the best. They were able to get my small 14yr old dog in the next day! They listened to my requests for her grooming and executed perfectly!!! Upon pick-up, Tami had a list of notes from the groomer, notifying me that her back leg may be arthritic. So not only did they do a fantastic job, they showed that they pay close attention and actually care about the dogs they are grooming. The pricing is also incredibly fair!!! 5 stars all around! I called them in a panic when my husband was out of town and our cat had pooped all over himself. I'm pregnant so I try to avoid cat poop, but I tried to clean him up with gloves on. When I ran out of gloves I started calling around. Tami's told me to bring him in they'll clean him up right away and shave the area to help keep him clear until dad gets home. What a disappointment! Just picked up my dog and when I got home I noticed his face was still dirty. He's a pug so they need extra attention on their faces. His ears were dirty as well.
