Brought home a large 18th century French provincial armoire. It was too big to fit in our elevator OR our stairwell door frames. Tamer restoration picked it up, rehabbed it, and brought it back in pieces to be assembled in our coop apt. Years later, a few weeks ago, we gave him our 1850s dresser to fix up (we'd had it for decades and bits of drawer structure were failing & falling off). What a beautiful job the workman did on my broken kitchen cabinet door. He for all the broken pieces together and glued them so securely and with such care that you cannot even tell the door was shattered into four separate pieces. Tamer Restoration is great! They built custom drawers for my pantry and they worked out great. Tamer pricing for the service and the quality of work is quite reasonable. Around 20 years ago we had a wooden chair cained and refurbished and it still looks great. I also had a 26" wide piece of maple that i needed planed down to make a coffee table. Tamer's work is peerless. He's the perfectionist you want for your toughest, most hopeless cases. I have the coat rack my great-grandfather had in his barber shop in brooklyn almost 100 years ago. He restored it to a state of beauty it's probably never had. So far every job I've given him I've been thrilled with the results. So what's the downside? Two very simple, knowable things. 1) It's a family business... things are a little loose and old-fashioned on the business/customer communication side of things. He can be hard to reach sometimes. Just keep trying. I was waiting for an invoice and then finally got a *photo* of it by email. LOL. None of this bothers me, because the work is so good, and nothing I had was time-sensitive. 2) It's expensive. Often, the work I wanted done cost the same as buying something similar brand new. Keep that in mind. So Tamer is *great* for sentimental, irreplaceable or one-of-a-kind items. Or for instance, if you got an amazing piece for free and want to invest the money to make it like-new again. read more

I had massive damage to the wood in an apartment that defied any hope of being restored to it's original condition. Tamer came in and somehow repaired hollow wood doors that had been torn open by cats that were sneaked in, and matched the original finish. You had to really look hard to find the repair. He also restored wood all over the apartment to look as if nothing had happened. It was like a miracle had taken place. He also was kind enough to touch up some sliding bedroom doors in my space that had sustained some accidental dulling to the lovely finish. He threw that in as a kindness. I will not hesitate to use him again. He is a master craftsman. I just wish he would put up a page on the net, even one of the free sites would do it, that specifically says wood restoration, since I lost his information, and couldn't find it anywhere on the net.
