1 star Howard is unprofessional and can't keep up with the demand. My parents are elderly and swore by him years back. I emailed, and also used the website to get in touch with him twice. He told me twice he could get the job done. He was supposed to come today, and when I called to confirm he didn't remember booking the job! He asks me "what's the urgency?" He stated he couldn't get the job done for at least six weeks due to other jobs he had ahead of mine. He never mentioned the time it takes to get materials in. Don't agree to a job and then forget it especially after he told me I needed to give him a $600 deposit and making sure I not only took off from work to make sure I was home for pickup but made sure I had the cash in hand! Word of mouth goes a long way. I will not recommend him to anyone! read more

I'm very pleased with how my chair turned out. This chair was an absolute mess - the legs and arms were scratched up, and there was a giant hole in the seat all the way from the cushion through the bottom and the stuffing was falling out. He refinished the wood, completely stripped the chair down to bare bones, and rebuilt the seat and padding and then reupholstered it beautifully with a fabric that was difficult to choose because there were so many options. The pricing was a little bit tricky for me because I thought it would be less then it ended up being, but overall I thought it was reasonable. I would just be very clear upfront in initial conversations with expectations regarding costs. If I had another project I would go back. read more

Before making a decision to hire Howard and his team to reupholster few pieces of my aunties furniture (circa 1870' -1890's), I called few different places in Brooklyn and Staten Island. No one was able to provide me with either with proper assistance or estimation. I was about to give up and leave my furniture as it was - smelly, with ugly stains and wood base falling apart. I found Howard's company on Google. As the others before. From the first short conversation, I knew he was the one I was to work with. Reassuring and knowing exactly what he was talking about, Howard provided me with the estimation, valuable advise on what it was needed to be done to preserve the pieces for future generations and offered reasonable price. Mr. Howard gave the second (?) life to my Victorian chairs and a foyer bench. I must say I had no knowledge on upholstery and furniture restoration and was doing this for the first time in my life. Thus, I was thinking that my antiques need just new fabric and they will be just fine - fine for admiring them - I could not practically use them because they looked like they will fall apart if you do. Straight to the point: Howard reinforced the wood frames (not sure I am using the right word), replaced the springs (?) and changed the fabric. Howard and his craftsmen transformed my pieces from the inside and out and lacking life antique furniture turned into stunning something that one can USE, admire and enjoy. Howard is fantastic, and his subcontractors do great work. Not the cheapest, but worth it for results. In Brooklyn (as he has done for me on three different projects) Howard will personally drop off a big pile of fabric samples @ your residence, as long as you give him a general idea of what you want - color range, type of fabric, etc. While taking measurements for each project, he contributed helpful design ideas, & options to keep cost down.
