Food is always good for the cost, staff is very kind and efficient at their jobs without trading quality

I had my nails done next door and I was hungry afterwards. I had never stopped in this restaurant before and I absolutely love tamales. I walked in and was instantly greeted and I always like that. The menu is simple but covers a great many options. I opted for a smothered crispy chili relenos. I was shocked it only took them five minutes to make and bag my to go order. When I returned home and ate my dinner, I was pleasantly surprised. My dinner was fantastic. Spicy, crispy and well made. Much better then I was expecting from fast food type tamale place. Plus, the portion size was really two meals for me. I really enjoyed this place, staff and food. The parking was easy. It's located in a very safe area of town and the staff was inviting and pleasant. The building was clean and well organized. I will absolutely order from this location again. read more

Get the receipt and check it! I have been going here for their breakfast burritos for years. Food was always good. Went there for dinner tonight and ordered two items. The total seemed off and when I reviewed the receipt, it contained 5 items. He ok'd a refund for an egg roll we never ordered, but when I questioned him in the other charges he became very defensive. According to him, that's 'just the way it rings up '. All the charges were higher than the menu price. I wound up cancelling everything and getting a refund, but not before I also got a heavy dose of shitty attitude. It's not my problem that you're overcharging me, so don't get pissy when I decide not to play. read more

This is our GO TO spot for breakfast burritos in our area. ++ The burritos are massive, loaded with the all the fixin's (potatoes, eggs, cheese and green chili) with the ability to smother as well - and absolutely delicious! ++ Staff is nice, friendly and fast! ++ $5 a burrito, in this economy? HELL YES! When in doubt, head to Tamale Kitchen! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! Ordered 3 burritos from here. Two of them being chorizo, egg, potato special. When I pulled my burrito out of the bag it was supper mushy. Opened it up and there was nothing but potato's and a shit load of chili in the burrito. Thank you for wasting my time and money. Every time I have been to this location, I am quickly reminded why I hardly go there anymore. Horrible service. read more

Tried this location today because I was at King Soopers. I typically go to the Kipling/Belleview location. Obviously these owners are different. I don't know how this location passes a health inspection. It is absolutely filthy. The chairs are considerably worn, dirt and dust all over the ceiling especially over the kitchen, walls are filthy and in need of repair. Rhey sell earrings @ the counter for $3. Very odd. I can't imagine how filthy the kitchen is. Couldn't eat here. I walked out read more

A breakfast restaurant that doesn't open till eight? The door was unlocked at 7:48 so I walked in and sat down to wait for them to open. And they kicked me out. The food is not very good here anyway just a convenient location for me. They need to learn how to make green chili. If you want really good green chili go to Tamales By La Casita on 35th and Tejon. read more

Our neighbors have told us about this place since we first arrived in Colorado and wanted to know where local Mexican food was served. It has taken us a year. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito, I ordered 2 Chile Relleno's w/sauce. We sat and waited. The store gets a second star for cleanliness, and fast service. (Although I'd have rather waited for a higher quality of food) Our number was called my husband picked up our bag walked to our seat and we opened a bag full of sauce leaked all over the bag. We grabbed extra napkins, cleaned up the mess... and took our first bites. My husband took about three bites and said; ' I can't eat this...' I tried the rellenos, they were hard. No egg. Covered in so much sauce I could not taste the food. I lasted about four bites. $14 in the trash. But a good lesson learned. We will return to Federal and get what we are looking for. read more

We just went to get dinner. Arrived at 7:40pm. The lady saw us coming and ran and locked the door. My entire family was at the door ready to enter when the lady locked it and looked right at us. I normally liked this location but couldn't believe how rude she was. Im normally in and out with food in less than 5 min. Still would have been 10 minutes before their listed closing time. read more

Clean, kind, and you can't beat a $11 (after tax) lunch. My new spot guaranteed. Tamales are fire - that should go without saying. And the cashier is incredibly kind! Idk why some other reviews say otherwise, this seems like a great crew. Good vibes in here for sure. read more

This place is 3 min away from our house so we decided to try it one night for dinner. We ordered a few tacos, and tamales. They were all really great, both kinds of tamales were so good, all I do is crave their tamales all day now. Super fast to go service. Love this little spot! read more

Go to the other location off Kipling/ Bowles if you can. This place is disappointing and treats their customers like ****. I tried calling 14 times over an hour to place a pick up order and was unsuccessful. I started at 6:28 and called them until 7:30 and they hung up on me every time. I decided to just go there, but I wish I hadn't. Walked in at 7:40 and all 3 employees threw daggers at me with their eyes. No one smiled no one greeted me, not even when I walked up to order. the girl taking orders just glared at me. I was the one who smiled. I was the one who said hi. And I got NOTHING back. It was so awkward, uncomfortable, and it made my anxiety skyrocket. The energy was so negative and off putting I wish I had the courage to just leave but I was like frozen. Still without being spoken to yet, i gave her my order. At the end she said is that all?? I'm a chump Becuz I tipped then $2. Why? Bcuz I was nervous, totally in my head, questioning myself, embarrassed, feeling guilty, like I did them dirty by supporting their business and i the moment thought I needed to 'make up for it'. Anyways, it didn't get better from there. I sat down and decided to call them while I waited to see what The deal was either the phone and sure enough. It rang and they looked at the phone, soemthjng was said and then it was silenced. LOL!! Can you imagine ignoring dozens of calls customers were making to place orders hours before your closed ??? Like how dumb is that and then to be totally unproffesional and rude when a customer comes in while you're still OPEN for 20min? Sorry you only had 20 min to make my order, but I tried calling at 6:28pm, tried another 13 Times and y'all ignored me. Wasted my time trying to get hold of you when u coulda just picked up LOL. I woulda been there an hour earlier and you wouldn't have had to get so angry and treat me like **** and get this review. Not that you care, you made that clear you don't care about customers supporting your biz ( ensuring that y'all still have JOBS) when you ignore calls for hours and then mean mug anyone who walks in. And after all that', the food was crap. It literally took 2 min to make. When she said here ma'am, I blurted out wow that was fast. She DID smile in response. But It wasn't a nice smile it was like a hah yeah, so fast I we didn't even have to cook it and just gave you leftover stuff from the garbage ! Not saying that's what they actually did bcuz I didn't see them make my order didn't see them cook anything or bag it- literally happened so quick I was still calling then on my Phone, I had to put it in my Pocket for fear getting caught lol. But it was cold and soggy. I ordered Crispy relleno, beef egg roll, and a hard shell taco and I live 6 min away. In 6 min it turned soggy and lukewarm? Tell me that was made fresh I dare you. Oh well jokes on me. Thatll teach me a lesson for spending my money at their restaurant, for teying to call an hour and half before they closed to order takeout. I mean for an order that takes 2 min to throw together, I should've known to at least try calling it in a minimum of 2 hrs before Closing. That way, when they get done with my 2 min order, They still have 1hr 58min to ignore calls and make customers (who smile and tip them despite horrible service) feel worthless and angry for ever going there. Shame on me !! read more

Been here before. Stopped in for lunch 1/26 and ordered 2 enchiladas with rice and beans, green Chile smothered. Took it to go. If you take food to go in the bag, DONT MOVE OR TIP IT AT ALL. Chile spilled all over the inside of the bag. Sign of things to come. Ate half of the messy meal and stopped due to my lack of interest. Beans were hard, rice had been sitting out forever. Enchiladas were ok. Got home from work and took a small nap. Woke up to cold sweats and a terrible stomach ache. FOOD POSIONING! Was curled into a ball in bed all evening/ night. threw up all night (some blood) stuck to the toilet. Missed my fav bands concert that night I've waited to go to all week. Disappointed and should have known as I watched them make the meal. Dirty, greasy and messy. Save yourself the torture read more

I used to come here regularly when I worked closer. Now it's more so a luxury to enjoy when I have time. I usually get a Chorizo Egg Potato Special Burrito. Special means chili inside. Smothered means the burrito is smothered in the chili. You can get the burrito without the tortilla if you're keto. The place is small, you can see exactly where it's being made. The service is always quick, friendly and the staff is very respectful. read more

I have been going to the Tamale Kitchen for sometime. The last two experiences have soured me on every going again. The cashier they have working on the weekends is rude, unprofessional and not able to understand basic math. in one experience, I asked for a bean burrito special instead of my normal order of a bean and potatoe burrito special. It was more expensive which made no sense to me since beans are cheaper than potatoes. When I questioned it, the cashier was rude and said I don't make the prices and was very disrespectful. My last experience ordering the bean and potatoe burrito that costs $5.26 was unbelievable. This same cashier told me the price and I gave him a $10.00 bill. Then I thought I didn't want all those ones in my wallet from the change, so I handed him an extra $1 bill so that he could just give me a $5.00 bill and the change. He refused and said he couldn't do it and made up some excuse because it is digital. I told him that it was the same amount of change, but that I wouldn't have to put 4 x $1.00 bills in my wallet. He couldn't seem to comprehend and he became angry and wanted to argue. I said, " What happened to good customer service and the customer is always right?" He then told me to move away in a very disrespectful tone. I asked for the manager and the manager was absolutely no help and refused to even listen to me and would not say one word. To that I was even more shocked. The cashier then falsely claimed that I cussed at him and I did not. I don't even cuss. Then the cashier told me to get the "fuck out of here." The manager still said nothing and just let this cashier continue to be rude and disrespectful. The cashier still would not stop and told me that he was going to call the police to get me out of there. I said, "Please do." All of this took place with other customers in the store. I will never go back there again. The cashier was a blond male that gave horrible customer service. read more

I really don't like writing reviews like this but I could NOT let this slide, I came in today asking for a job application because they had a help wanted sign up for quite some time. Decided to ask for an application VERY NICELY and the cashier (young white guy) was absolutely so rude: I was already not having a good morning but he wasn't either apparently! I didn't even want to turn in my application at that point, when I dropped it off, still was having a shit attitude: when I asked for his name he proceeded to give me his managers name ? Hmmm shouldn't be so scared to give me your name if you were acting so rude! Go home if you don't like your job and don't take it out on me, someone who is actually looking for work. Don't know if this was a race thing or not. You'd figure you'd want some actual Mexicans working in your white washed restaurant read more

Look at this picture of my burrito: Enough said The rice is drier than the Sahara and they don't have any condiments (salsas, limes, etc) or a drink fountain. The epitome Low quality dining. The service is alright but that doesn't compensate for the boiled chicken in a stinky flour tortilla. The chips and salsa were ight but u can get chips and salsa of this quality at any other 2 star Mexican restaurant. read more

Typically this one is good. However last time I visited a legitimate child maybe 12 years old was at the cash register. Couldn't get my order right had to tell him about 20 times what I wanted and even argued with me about how I was paying. The food ended up being made wrong had to have it fixed and it seemed like they purposely gave me the extremely hot green chile. It was inedible how hot the green chile was and my family can handle spice. Absolutely ridiculous read more

I have been coming here for 15 years and for the entire time they have been Inconsiderate. I'm over it. Who opens at 9am every and sells breakfast burritos? What about ANYONE on earth that works?? Today was the last straw. Paid and waited for 2 burritos, got my order and opened it when home to find 1 burrito and that's it. The WORST Tamale Kitchen I have been to and one of the worst service experiences I have ever seen. How they stay open is a mystery. The gal taking my order carried on a joking conversation with her coworker when I was standing at the register and barely acknowledged that I was even there. There was about 6 employees in the front all standing around in the food prep area just talking and joking about, but apparently working is not what anyone is paid to do. Also, didn't help that cleanliness didn't look to be a high priority for the staff themself or the facility. Really sad because I'm a huge fan of tamale kitchen and love their other locations. read more

I only ever get their breakfast burritos, I see some reviews about their other items being poor quality. I haven't tried them so I wouldn't know and can't defend that. But I DO know their breakfast burritos and they are SO GOOD. I crave them often. I always get the egg potato bacon special (with green chili inside) and it's keeps you full for a long time and isn't too heavy. Probably my favorite breakfast. I prefer this location since it's closer but also because they are better quality than the Kipling location. Don't let the reviews turn you away from their breakfast burritos. :) read more

Best breakfast burritos! Love their sauce when ordering egg bacon potato special! It can get quite busy on Sundays so expect to wait.

I tried this place out imagining tamale restaurants I've visited elsewhere that serve 30 different kinds of tamales with as many salsa choices. Uh, no. I could find no choices on the menu so just asked for a tamale plate expecting questions. Just "red or green". They did ask if I wanted hot or mild sauce. I asked for mild and it was incendiary. I can handle heat and this was bad. Plus the tamales with mystery meat (beef I think) were rubbery. Just bad. No mas. read more
