Gone at least once a month, young white girl in the front is a horrible worker, never greats never even asks "how can u help you" just stares at us and expects us to know she's ready for our order. 99% sure it's because we're Mexican which is ironic because it's tamale kitchen but if a Caucasian comes in after us they're greeted and asked how they can be helped. My wife and wanted to grab some dinner to take him and as we were looking around for something good, we saw this place. We really enjoy a good tamale. The staff were moving fast but friendly enough. The price was reasonable and we had our food and were out the door in ten minutes or so. The vegetarian green chili is off the hook. Wow, was it good. The tamales we received were well made, hot and well packaged. The red sauce is tasty and it all felt authentically Mexican. So, I went to get a breakfast burrito here for the first time since i typically frequent the tamale kitchen off of Chatfield and Wadsworth. This was my first time at the Kipling location. It was horrible. Actually spit out my burrito while driving and almost puked. I ordered an egg potato bacon special and legit got eggs in a tortilla. So disgusting. The eggs tasted like shit as well. No chili, very little cheese, and 1 piece of bacon that was so fatty and chewy I gagged. I will not be returning here any time soon. read more

It's been years since I have been here. I am forever on a breakfast burrito quest to find the ultimate potato, egg, cheese and chile burrito treat. Breakfast burrito Friday is alive and well in my house. It's counter service with a huge menu. There was 2 cooks and a counter guy the day I went. No one talks and they work in silence. They get the orders out in batches and in reasonable time. It was ~$8 and a big burrito, the kind that fills you up until dinner. Mine had an imbalance of potatoes and red chile. Apparently asking for clarification of making sure you're not being overcharged is offensive to the staff here. My order was incorrect when I received it so I went back to the counter and showed my receipt and was told I was under charged and needed to pay more. Okay, that's fine. But if I'm asking for clarification because I'm looking at the receipt and it seems like I was charged, there's no reason to get rude and mock me with the other associate working. I don't work here, I don't know the abbreviations for your receipts. I come here a lot and that was the worst experience I've ever had with customer service. You two should feel ashamed for talking to people like that that are just trying to clarify what they're paying for. Especially when that person paid immediately and didn't argue about the difference. I'll find another tamale kitchen to go to. read more

Tamale kitchen is my favorite place and I tried a new location and the chili was watery, not spicy, and overall just terrible and the cheese in my burrito wasn't melted and stuck to the side. Service was decent though and restaurant was clean. I won't be going back to this location and am really really really disappointed. This is not a chain that has a set theme or design like other franchises. Nothing fancy here at all, just very good Mexican-style standards and some of the best vegan green chile I have had along with many veg-friendly menu options. My go-to's are the green chile cheese fries, cheese, egg and potato burrito, the Mexican egg roll with bean, rice, chile and cheese, the bean tostada and the tamales are delicious as well as being an incredible value. I typically buy a half dozen and a quart of green chile to take home. My experience has always been fast and friendly service at this location. read more

Been to Tamale Kitchens before. Beware of this location. A 4% charge is put on each item if you pay by credit card. No signs posted. The cashiers do not inform you. They told me it came up on the pay screen. The cashiers were rude and uninformed. I called and talked with the manager. He didn't know what percent was charged. He didn't seem to know anything. The food was less than OK. This location got a 79 on its last health inspection. I will never go into any Tamale Kitchen location. I did email the company and no response. Does the public realize the credit card companies only charge 2 % for their fees. read more

Right off the bat, I could tell the owner opts for the cheaper ingredients, like the cheap cheese with all the additives and preservatives. Non-cage free, non-organic, GMO eggs. I could just taste the lower quality straight out the gate. So, I ask why am I paying a premium for the lesser quality ingredients? The vibe is pretty lame in here too, one small TV, and no-music. We have eaten at TK for years, my buddies worked there in high school, we loved TK. Then we ordered some food 1-20-18 and after eating my favorite three taco combo I went to grab a chip and this little oval shaped brown bug crawled off my chip on to my hand. I'm no bug expert but we all think the worst when we see that shape and color crawling anywhere especially around food.
