Wonderfully flavorful! This was my third visit, each time has been with a different friend and we have tried different dishes for the various occasions. I have determined one really can't go wrong. This time we had the pupusas and smothered breakfast burritos, yes, for supper. The pupusas have that only-mom's homemade kind of flavor. I will be craving queso-chicharrón in the future. The smothered breakfast burritos, using a nice balance of fresh potatoes, eggs, and meat of choice, had layers of flavor, topped off with a delicious blanket of green chili sauce. I was not disappointed by the bacon in mine which was even crispy. In the past we have thoroughly enjoyed street tacos, smothered burritos, and chile rellenos- all great! Our server was attentive and obviously proud of their product (rightfully so). It is a small space and the seating limited but acceptable. We moved from booth to table, as the booths were pretty uncomfortable. This is a small thing in light of the excellent food and always very friendly staff. If comfort is an issue, don't pass on takeout! It was a nice evening and I look forward to introducing other friends to this dining experience. read more

Their pupusas were delicious. Very filling and not very doughy which is always good. The sauce and curtido brought all the flavors together. I was struggling with the 2 but if you have a big appetite order up. The plátanos were sweet, hot and delicious and the horchata was very flavorful. We got there a little after 1:30 so missed the lunch rush but it's totally worth it if you're looking for a quick lunch option around downtown Littleton . The food is delicious at El Lucero. Do yourself a favor and order the pupusas. Our 11 month old loved the beans so much she went from using a spoon to grabbing handfuls of beans. The staff/owners had excellent service and were personable and kind. Two soccer games were on the TV. My husband comes here every Friday for lunch, and loves it. He has brought our family, in-laws, and friends and everyone is always blown away. Everything is authentic and delicious. Why I won't eat at El Lucero any more First time I tried El Lucero was at the beginning of the pandemic in an effort to help support local businesses. I ordered my food to go that time also; the service was okay. The food was fine but nothing spectacular. I figured it was the pandemic, restaurants were struggling and let it go. Thursday, March 10 I tried again. I had a friend coming for dinner and after working a 60 hour week, wanted an easy meal and you can't go wrong with tacos -- or so I thought. I ordered street tacos, french fries and decided to try a pupusa. While waiting, I see a food box tossed up on a counter. No heat lamp, just sitting there. About five minutes later I see another food box placed on top. After about another five minutes, I asked the server, Alandra, if that was my order. After looking she confirmed it was mine but we were still waiting on the pupusa. By this point my street tacos had sat on a counter for 10 minutes and the french fries were definitely getting cold. I mentioned to Alandra that my items were getting cold sitting there. She tries to say that the pupusa takes longer because they're handmade. What Alandra didn't realize is that I've worked in food and beverage for over 20 years. I understand some food items take longer to cook than others; that's why you start them first before the quickly prepared items (like street tacos and french fries). After giving me a snotty look, she goes back to the kitchen and has a conversation with the other staff members. Then Alandra returns saying that she can give me my two (cold) items now so I could eat them at the restaurant. And it just got worse from there. When I walked out with my cold tacos and wet, soggy, kind of warm french fries, I had planned to call the next day to request a refund. After talking with my friend about the situation (over our cold food), I realized that the manager/owner who was there, knew the quality of the food they were serving me and didn't care. Instead of remaking the items so everything was fresh, the kitchen, server and manager had no qualms serving me substandard items. So, that was my experience and I'm sure others have had better. Kicker to all of this? I gave a fair tip on my order ($4 on a $20 order) so basically, not only did I pay for cold, wet food; I tipped the staff for horrible service. Lesson learned, don't sign the tab until you actually have your food. Good to all of this? I see that a Santa Fe Express is moving into the center so there's another option for tacos soon. read more

Discovering this place has been the highlight of the last few weeks for me. I commute to this side of town for work. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming, the staff kept asking me "anything else?" in such a way that I ordered more and more food, more than I could eat lol The Pupusas are amazing, as good as any I've had The pickled cabbage has a great taste And I am pretty sure the "Tamal de Pollo" I tried was dynamite but I'm going to need to order many many more and keep testing to be sure... ;) Seriously, their Tamal de pollo had so much flavor and I have never seen a green bean inside something and WANTED to try it to see if it was as yummy as everything else. This is a small restaurant sitting between a vape shop and a liquor store in a little strip mall. You have to be looking for it because it's a bit off the beaten path. We gave it a try because sometimes these tiny places are really awesome, but this isn't one of those, sadly. I picked up an order to go, which was good, because it felt like it was 80 degrees inside. I was in short sleeves and sweating while I waited. The lady that took the order was pleasant and very helpful. I ordered a burrito supreme, a Rico burrito, and a burrito combo plate. The refried beans were runny and low on flavor, as was the rice. The sauce on everything was thin and bland. The salsa had a tin-like flavor and very little spice. The only highlight was the meat in the Rico. Can't imagine we will try this spot again. read more

I had actually read reviews on Yelp about how good this place was and their papusas. Well we're moving into a new place soon and just stopped by a place nearby and it was serendipity! Got a variety of things to sample and here are my favs: Mango juice, plantain empanadas, chicken papusas, rice, bean and chicharrones (made from pork belly not skin) papusas and chicken empanadas with veggies! I also told a coworker whose husband works nearby about this place and she said they've been going their for years and love their caldo. My In-laws said they've never heard of Salvadoran Pupusas, until Nick explained what they were and how delicious they are! (Stuffed tortillas with a variety of cheesy filling, to meaty filling.) Nick originally thought they were stuffed pancakes, however, we chuckled and explained it's 100% most definitely a tortilla. This owner came from El Salvador 20 years ago, and since opened up this Mexican AND Salvadoran friendly eatery!! Nick's parents were also curious and wondering, just how authentic this restaurant came out to be? We were delighted to know that it was 100% authentic, and were head over heels for the many variety flavors we ordered: Bean & Cheese, Lorocco (Herb) and my favorite: Pork. They came with a pickled cabbage, and even a red and spicy salsa!! We didn't do dine in, given the circumstances, but we got take out, and the owner packed them carefully in nice to go boxes. We were able to make it back to our their place and were thrilled the Pupusas made it through the car trip without any harm. read more

Had a nice late lunch here with my Mom the other day. Maria was our server, and she was very friendly and told us that the family restaurant had actually been closed for 5 years due to the former mall location closing all the businesses. Glad they decided to start back up, and here in Littleton! Mom's chimichanga was crispy, my Mexican hamburger ample, and the chile verde on both was very much to my liking--the nice orange coloring, and flavorful without too much heat. read more

Rolando and Ana are the best hosts! When you come to El Lucero, Rolando will greet you with the most friendly welcome, and then Ana follows through with amazing authentic El Salvadoran perfection. Our family has a number of dietary restrictions, and El Lucero goes out of the way to make sure that everyone is accommodated. They can do gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and I'm sure Rolando will take of you if you have a special dietary need. The special orders take just a little more time, but it's worth it to know you'll get an amazing meal and that Rolando and Ana are working hard to make sure you're healthy and happy! Just had the best carne asada burrito supreme ever in my life! Wife and I decided to stop for lunch since we heard many good things. The place is kinda inconspicuous in a strip mall. We went in and the girl working was so polite and made us feel very welcome. My wife and I were blown away with our dishes and will be back. Only down side is no beer or alcohol. They did say they may change that since they have had a lot of requests for it. read more
