I had read in other reviews that it can take a while for the order to be made, so it helps to call ahead. The woman running this little stand hung up on me when I tried to order because I said I only wanted one. She said she didn't make just one, and hung up. So, I decided to go in person. When I arrived, I saw a sign that said it had to be an order of two or more. I ordered three (cash only, by the way). They all come with cheese, but I ordered one bean, one onion, and one chicken. I asked her what her own favorite one was, and she said none. Okay, great start. She does make them from sh, which was great. They came out piping hot! It took about 15 minutes. We ate in the car, since there are no tables around and the ambiance is basically just a parking lot, which is fine. The bean was good, but was boring. The cheese and onion was fine, but lacked the onion flavor I was hoping for. It was just raw onion with cheese. And then, the chicken tasted like canned chicken (and looked it) and was not good at all, unfortunately. I've had papusas before, so I kind of knew what to expect and this wasn't it. Aside from my experience, the place was popping at lunch and a ton of people were there... Maybe I just haven't found the right one to try! read more

I had never tried Pupusas previously so I had to run to Union Jack anyway why not give it a try. Yes the elderly lady was a bit edgy so what she has lived long enough to have attitude. The food was real good I had a pork and a chicken and both were good. The salsa was ok and the cabbage with vinegar and carrots gave it a little more flavor. The prices are very reasonable so noone tell them they are in Boulder county or they will charge too much. I will be back to try other menu selections. read more

"here mocoso aqui esta tu pizza" his mother said, creation of the pepperoni pupusa. The cook is a young at heart woman who I feel has a lot of love for her food. Her husband if she has one is already in heaven. The infamous Salvadorian creation come out piping hot and delicious. All three of my variety pupusa were amazing. Salsa and slaw fresh and crisp. I didn't know what papusas were before discovering this shed in a liquor store parking lot. The food is great, with a huge variety of choices of filling. I'm still not sure what loroco is, but I recommend it! Since they're cooked to order, it takes about 10 minutes, but you can shop in the very-good liquor store while waiting. When the weather is nice, their setup of tables, chairs, stumps, and knickknacks is a nice environment. read more

I thought the salsa was also quite good, although the salad dressing was a little too strong for us. Unfortunately the wait was too long for lunch. Yeah! I have been trying to eat here for two months and finally made it yesterday for the first time. I had heard it was good and was curious what exactly a Papusa is. Wikipedia defines them as: A pupusa is a traditional Salvadoran dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is usually filled with a blend of the following: cheese cooked pork meat ground to a paste consistency refried beans, or queso con loroco. The Papusas at Papusa are out of this world. There is a very light crisp on the outside of the tortilla and the cheese is perfectly melted. Two papusas are a perfect quantity. They come with a side of lettuce, and cabbage, and homemade salsa. The owner told me to split the tortilla in half along outer seam, and then put the salsa inside, close it up and eat. Crazy good. Pro tip: call in advance so you don't have to loiter in a liquor store parking lot for 15 minutes. read more

I finally made it over to the pupusa shack for two tasty revuelta (mixed pork, bean and cheese) pupusas. I called over today and they were open at 3:15 even though their normal hours say that they close at 2pm on Sundays. When I arrived there was a sign saying they would be back at 3:45 (in actuality closer to 4pm), so I spent some time chatting with 3 guys from TX, who were working in the area. One was Salvadoran and I took his order for seconds as a thumbs up. The curtido and salsa were also both excellent and I look forward to returning. Definitely a welcome change from the usual mediocre midwestern strip mall fare. A pair of 4-6" diameter masa dough rounds filled with your choice of filling. They have a number of filling choices, including beans, cheese, and pork. We had chicken, spinach and loroco. All were tasty although I liked the chicken the best. They come with a side of salsa which is very very good. Flavorful, fresh with a bit of a jalapeno kick that isn't overwhelming. An order of 4 pupusas and 2 sodas came to just over $13. Not bad for a quick and tasty lunch. read more

For $5 I got two lightly fried, delicious pupusas, hand crafted by a very sweet Salvadorian lady. I ordered the Chicken & Cheese and the Pork, Cheese & Bean. It takes about 10 minutes for her to fry up your order, totally worth the wait (might be a bit more of a pain if there was a line of people). My issue was with the fillings. I ordered a pepperoni (huge mistake) and a mushroom. The mushroom filling was just okay, nothing special. The pepperoni was disgusting. It tasted like no other pepperoni I've ever eaten. I ended up pulling the pupusa apart and removing all of the pepperoni. If I ever decide to give this place a second chance, I will order cheese only, maybe chile since a woman who was waiting in line said that's her favorite. The woman running the place isn't as grumpy as I expected from reading previous reviews, but she's certainly not the chatty type! Still, a good lunch spot if you're in the area and have time to wait.
