We had a ladies lunch date at Los Dos Potrillos. While the food was good, unfortunately everything else was missed the mark. To start, we were seated right next to the back door with an alarm peeping the entire time, despite the restaurant being practically empty. The service was disappointing from the beginning. It took quite a while for our server to greet and take our order, and we didn't receive enough menus or water for everyone at the table. Once the order was placed our server disappeared. No follow-up, no check-ins and the when food finally arrived meals and bills were mixed up. I had hope to place a to-go order, but the lengthy wait left me out of time. I later return specifically to place that to-go order hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately it was more of the same. The constant "honey" " darling" and "sweetheart" felt force and insincere, almost mocking . Which only added to the frustration. If you are looking for good Mexican food and don't mind poor service or less-than pleasant dining experience, this is the place for you! Even before the fire, I thought this place was maybe 3 stars, really indistinguishable from every other restaurant in the area that serves "Mexican" food. We just went the other night and we won't go back. 1. We were sat at a booth, which I would've thought would be new replacement furniture. But the benches were so weird and sort of spill you backwards. Not the end of the world but weird. 2. The menu is too small, smaller than it used to be, I'm pretty sure. There was no a la carte section, no 'sides' section. There was not a single item on the entire menu that was less than $10. I only wanted like a little side item or house salad, but no dice. 3. Food was just meh. Salsa was pretty good but super spicy so beware if that's important to you. There was no crowd there at all, which never used to be the case, so I wonder how long they're going to make it. Reading another review here saying they re-use unconsumed water has me so grossed out, I don't even have words. You know they'll pull that shit for unconsumed chips, salsa, etc. GROSS. read more

Ahhhhhmazing food! Always great service. I discovered that there is a back patio which is so nice when the weather is good! The steak nachos and table side guac are phenomenal. Although I do find it annoying that they put huge chunks of steak on the nachos so you have to individually cut them up. Nachos shouldn't require silverware. The margs are tasty! Prices are fair. We have taken family and friends from out of town and all have been satisfied each time. They do have a wait during popular times so be aware of that but you can always get a drink at the bar. Unfortunetly this is our closest overpriced mediocre Mexican restaurant. So when it reopened like many we ordered takeout again. 2 carne asada fries and a burrito supreme. 1 of the fries ended up coming with chicken. Fine whatever mistakes happen. Burrito supreme then ended up being filled with chicken (it's supposed to be beef). We call explain the situation manager says they'll replace. Get here 15 minutes later order still has not been put in. Had a chance to save our business. On a normal day the food for being as expensive as it is and the small portion size for price is mediocre but again this is the best we have so close in suburbia. Maybe they should have stayed closed after the fire. Seems from many other reviews of late other patrons agree.OH AND: they gave us a gift card for the troubles... $0 balance. Hilarious. This Los Dos Potrillos on San Juan Way has improved over the years. The first time I ate there it was not good. I have decided to give it another chance, so I went back a few years later, and the food and service was much better. They have a big menu with several great meals. One of my favorites is the Los Dos Potrillos burrito. It is a large chicken and bean burrito smothered in their excellent green chile. I have been wanting to try this place, they get a lot of good media. My niece & I were the first customers today waiting by the door when they opened. The place appeared to be clean but my menu had quite a lot of dried food in it. I ordered the Los Dos Potrillos enchilada's and my niece ordered the Chili Relleno nachos. The food arrived quickly and the initial presentation was good. The guacamole was fresh as were the vegetables. My entire lunch was cold. The beef enchilada filling was rotten and had a strong flavor. I couldn't finish anything because of the bad taste in my mouth from the beef. My nieces chili relleno nachos were swimming in grease. We had 1 entree, 1 appetizer and two glasses of water and the bill with a 20% tip was $43.88 for a lunch neither of us ate. read more

My daughter was in town from New York, I told her about Los Dos and how good the food and service is. We went there last night and had a bad experience. first, they put us in a booth that my 2 year old grandson couldn't use a high chair or booster. When we asked to move the waiter was very perturbed. Then they put us in the corner in the back with no air conditioning. It was over 80 degrees. They said they could blow a fan toward us but didn't offer to let us move. I ordered a taco meal which said it came with flour tortilla's, I don't like corn. When the meal came it was corn. I told the waiter it was suppose to be flour and he said no, it only comes with corn, very abruptly and rude. I said can you make them with flour please. He said I'll bring you flour and you can switch them out, again, very rudely. I have rarely had a bad experience at the Kipling restaurant off C470 but it was really bad last night. The waiter was very rude and condescending to us. I'll never go back to that restaurant. read more
