We hired Elevated Home Remodel for home updates, originally for a kitchen remodel, but then scaled back to new lighting and doors (due to external factors), with a plan to revisit the kitchen remodel later. From the beginning, communication and oversight were poor. We never met Miki in person, and all communications were handled via text message. Elevated sent subcontractors to perform the work, and the one they assigned to us was almost never on time and made errors that caused delay after delay. On multiple days, Miki would tell us to expect the guy to come in that day and he wouldn't show up at all. The work was originally estimated to take 2-3 weeks and ended up taking 3 months.
The work performed by this subcontractor was filled with errors, both large and small. These included: light switches installed upside down, holes left in our walls, doors improperly installed so they scraped the finish off our floors, and closet doors that wouldn't close. He even broke a door, splitting the wood completely apart while installing a door handle, and instead of letting us know, tried to caulk it over and left it for us to discover. They also took out one of our dimmer switches and insisted their electrician said it would be impossible to reinstall. (We later had an independent electrician reinstall it in under 5 minutes.)
The worst part was, nobody ever verified the work. My husband and I had to spend our own time identifying every error, both big and small, with Miki and Wave. We were not under the impression anyone would have noticed or fixed them otherwise. This was especially frustrating because one of the reasons we chose Elevated over other contractors was that they sold us a hands off experience where project management would handle day-to-day oversight and quality control. That was not at all our experience. In fact, we are still finding quality issues missed by Elevated, such as: bathroom grouting already patchy with holes after a month, closet doors that hang open, and loose door frame hinges that were not fully screwed in and we somehow missed. They even left a large, 2cm gap in our bathroom after installing the new door frame. (I edited this review to add a picture, which speaks for itself in terms of the work quality from Elevated.)
Pricing also ran quite high for the work. For instance, they quoted us $1300 to install CO and smoke alarms, which is almost $200 per alarm. Unfortunately, our experience did not align with the premium prices.
I am leaving one star because we liked our initial design experience with Julie, even if we didn't end up using her designs. Everything else fell well short of our expectations and what we paid for. We were planning to continue with Elevated for our kitchen remodel, but are relieved that we didn't. If you are looking for a dependable, trustworthy contractor with high standards and attention to detail, I would look elsewhere.
