Rocky Mountain Oysters
Stacey P.

Visiting my father from Texas and celebrating my daughters 18th birthday brought us to Tall Boys. What an extra special treat! Our waitress, Charlotte and bartender, Cori were both amazing! The food was beyond fabulous! My daughter tried Rocky Mountain Oysters for the time and loved them. We had the Prime Rib which was perfect and enough to take home for another meal. The atmosphere was spot on and so welcoming. Cori was so sweet and made me want to move to Montana just so we could be friends. My daughter was able to try her hand at the slot machines for her very first gambling experience too! Soooo fun!!!! I can't wait for another visit to enjoy this fabulous place. I can't say enough about it! Well worth any drive!

Really good food. My husband had the Tomahawk steak and it was huge. Nice stop coming from or going out to Lake Ackley.

We're riding through and stopped. Best food and drinks we have had this week riding through Yellowstone and Glacier.

I've been visiting Lewistown for years and somehow I had never visited Harry's Place. I had no idea…read morewhat I was missing. It was the prime rib Friday sign that finally caught my attention. The restaurant was packed. The service was great. I bantered with our server. It was fun. The ambiance was typical small town Friday prime rib night. The prime rib was good. They have a very nice salad bar too. I visited a couple days later for lunch. I had whatever the ham & cheese sandwich was...and it was excellent. That's right: excellent. Highly recommended!

Helped my nephew move to Lewistown from California to start a new job and picked Harry's from Yelp…read morereviews. Thank you all! Our luck that we picked Friday night, Prime Rib night. Oh my! Let me back up. When we arrived at 4:50 there was 1 table occupied and the waitress asked if we had a reservation. I thought that was cute. My nephew suggested people were just getting off work. He was right. By 5:10 the place was packed. Make a reservation or go early! We both ordered the Prime Rib. I ordered, and included a picture, of what they call the XTRA SMALL. It is huge (to me!). My nephew ordered the large (he's a master diesel mechanic and can EAT) and the waitress said "Are you sure?" He ended up taking 1/3 of his and 2/3 of mine home for leftovers. The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and seasoned to perfection. Dinner comes with a soup and salad bar. I had a little clam chowder that was delicious. The salad bar was great and included hush puppies as big as softballs. Best I've ever had. Took 2 so I could give one to my nephew so he could experience it. Made him a fan. Dinner also includes your choice from an impressive list of desserts. My caramel apple cobbler is sitting in my hotel fridge waiting for me to get hungry for a late night snack. I leave tomorrow so I'm attacking that cobbler no matter what! Our waitress was funny and a delight and the whole place was very cozy.

This bar is a hidden gem in the middle of Montana! We came through Lewistown on a cross country…read moreroad trip and wanted to grab dinner somewhere we could watch that night's NBA game. Doc's seemed like our best bet locally and our expectations were exceeded drastically. The staff here is incredibly friendly and though we were blatantly from out of town, we were treated like family. It was apparent that this was the local hot spot as many groups met to share drinks and a good time. Everyone seemed to know each other, which added to the charm. I expected the food to be average but my expectations were greatly exceeded. We ordered beer battered fries (my absolute favorite kind of fries), fried pickle spears, and nachos. They were all fantastic. They don't do anything fancy but they do standard bar grub very well. Though I am not usually a fan of nacho cheese, I actually LOVED the nachos here. I would recommend this dish above all the others. The drinks were also great and had a good selection of local options. The bartender recommended the Cold Smoke Scotch Ale and I was a huge fan. They also have a room full of slot machines off to the side, for those who would like to partake. Our evening at Doc's ended up being one of our favorite nights on our road trip. The small town charm, friendly staff, and wonderful food made our experience spectacular. Doc's is worth a stop!

What made this meal special was the very fact that it wasn't "special." It was special to me because the wait staff was friendly and kind. The food was fresh and tasted homemade. It wasn't fancy and wasn't trying to be something it wasn't. It was delicious and I enjoyed my meal in the diner immensely. It was an hour before they closed and they acted like they knew me. It was an absolute pleasure to dine here.

Service was friendly and ontop of things, and the chef even stopped by the table to see how the was. I enjoyed the lower lights and barnwood artwork. The most bizarre unprofessional restaurant experience in my life. We ordered medium well steaks…read morewhich were delivered rare, inedible. When returned to be put back on the grill the steak came back after 15-20 minutes still rare with no discernible difference. Apparently the cook does not know the difference between rare and medium well. Both inedible meals were, of course, rejected. The cook (who I have been told is also the owner) burst out of the kitchen ranting and causing a scene, in his own restaurant, demanding to know where we were from and how many times we had been to the restaurant. WTH? What does someone's location and attendance record have to do with how to cook a steak properly? Is the standard in his restaurant he will cook steaks his way or else? While waiting for the check he called the police to have us escorted out....all because he did not have the skills to cook a steak medium well or possibly a diva factor that he was enraged his food was sent back. We did nothing to garner this treatment. Our only crime was choosing this restaurant and apparently ordering steaks medium well. The one bright spot? Our waitress. She was apologetic and professional.
