Wow what a hidden gem in Montana! I've ate at some great restaurants all over the U.S. this is easily my favorite. It's about 30 minutes from Lewistown but I would drive further. With the dining experience we had where do you start. The service was first rate and even visited with the owner( who is a gem ) are waitress was also awesome as was the other waiters and waitresses. Nephew and niece each had a drink and raved about them. The menu is quite extensive I thought but we were eating dinner so didn't look at the sandwich's and salads( won't make that mistake next time because looked at later and they have a awesome looking menu) . ! We ordered 3 types of steaks and my wife ordered fettuccine. Service was quick! We had 3 salads and I had clam chowder (very very good large clams) . The meal was awesome ! From the small butter balls for potato, the broccolini (order extra it is an experience in itself) our steaks were amazing and the prime rib was huge and looked very very good. We stoped at Tall Boys on our way from Great Falls to Billings. It's a couple of minutes off of the freeway in a town that no one has any real reason to go to if they don't live there so it would be easy to miss but that would be a mistake!! The staff is fantastic, the drinks are delicious and the food was amazing. We had the chislic (fried beef tips), onion petals, prime rib BLT and tavern beef. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautiful. I know they make a big deal out of their curry sauce but it wasn't my favorite. However, the garlic aioli that comes with the chislic was super good. If you're out toward Hobson, MT don't sleep on this restaurant, make sure you stop in for at least a drink. NOTE: they are closed both SUNDAY and MONDAY. read more

We loved our first visit! Everyone was welcoming and so friendly. They have a marvelous menu and the menu itself is a wonderful example of care and good marketing. Nearly all of our party opted for steaks and we were all very pleased with the different cuts and the preparation. I look forward to fitter visits and exploring that great menu. Visiting my father from Texas and celebrating my daughters 18th birthday brought us to Tall Boys. What an extra special treat! Our waitress, Charlotte and bartender, Cori were both amazing! The food was beyond fabulous! My daughter tried Rocky Mountain Oysters for the time and loved them. We had the Prime Rib which was perfect and enough to take home for another meal. The atmosphere was spot on and so welcoming. Cori was so sweet and made me want to move to Montana just so we could be friends. My daughter was able to try her hand at the slot machines for her very first gambling experience too! Soooo fun!!!! I can't wait for another visit to enjoy this fabulous place. As I have said before, this place is wonderful and worth the drive from Great Falls or the jaunt off the highway. On 10/14/2020 Gabby was our server and she was friendly and attentive. The tomato basil soup was delicious as was the Cobb salad, though I think I prefer the wedge salad. The French dip was also tasty. read more

This place is amazing and in the middle of nowhere. Always stop on my way to Lewistown from Spokane! Service is great, food is even better. I always get the ribeye because beef in Montana is so much cheaper and taste so much better than in Washington! I'm doing low carb so I ordered my steak without the baked potato. Impressive dining for a small town! Probably one of the best places to eat in central Montana. Comfortable atmosphere. Full menu with great appetizers, salads, burgers, entrees and desserts. We were camping along the South Judith and planned on eating at Utica's Oxen Yoke. But we took a cruise through Hobson The Tall Boy looked like it might just be another small town steak place. We were a little too early for the full dinner service. But we poked our nose in and it looked pretty interesting for a small Central Montana town The building had been used for Clint Eastwood's Thunderbolt and Lightfoot film. It was totally redone with the owner/chefs daughters artsy photos of staff. She is a commercial artist doing micro brew labels and more in Bozeman. With attitude and chickens wearing chicken jewelry-you have to see it, pretty cool A son in law made all the furniture. Bathrooms were very clean. In fact the whole place was taking Covid seriously The young staff were friendly and professional. They could even relate to us old geezers. Alex was particularly good and helpful We drank a couple of great micro brews and played pool while waiting for the full dinner to be served Lots of local real beef and shrimp that were HUGE. Lots of gourmet touches. I got a rib eye. Wanted their bread pudding but I was stuffed This place would make it in any city but was truly amazing in Hobson I think I now want to move to Hobson! read more

I love this place so much currently I am living in Bozeman but every time I come out to Lewistown I make the stop here for the best meal and beer ever. They have the most beautiful tables made by the owners husband, ones with maps and plain! 100% recommend stopping if you can. read more

This was my first time dining in the large dining room. The cleanliness and favorable decor was a huge welcome. Our server was very friendly (lady from Moore) and efficient and the steak and prime rib were cooked to perfection. And of course the cheesecake was excellent ‼ read more

We were very pleasantly surprised by the delicious offerings at this modern gastropub in the middle of Montana! Passing through on our way home from Glacier NP, we found this restaurant on Yelp. No reviews yet, which isn't surprising, since there's barely cell service in the rural parts of Montana. But if you are reading this review and are passing by Hobson, you definitely want to stop here for a tasty meal! Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, the inside is nicely decorated with modern touches and pub-like decor and offers tasty dishes worthy of any big city pub. I had a delicious house salad topped with perfectly cooked steak, and my family loved their dishes, including: chicken Brie sandwich, juicy burger topped with caramelized onions, and special grilled cheese with provolone and bacon. Had to pass on desserts since we had to get back on the road, but I would have definitely wanted to try the creme brûlée. Loved the food, and would highly recommend this restaurant if you are a foodie and not wanting a dubious hole-in-the-wall that some of the other small town restaurants offer. Definitely check out their menu online to see their offerings. It was a wonderful meal after spending 5 days eating camp food. Would definitely come back on our next trip to Glacier. read more
