This place is ok. It's more of a drinking place than eating place. The lazy wings are terrible. My pretzel came out hard as a rock and my food came out cold. I'm not one to complain but it was ridiculous, on top of that it was dead and we waited an hour and a half to get our food... The vibe here is good, they have a pretty good craft beer selection. We stopped at the Whistle Stop this evening. Upon arriving & finding it quite crowded, we left & began looking for another place for some snacks & a couple beverages. After leaving, Jeremy whom we believe is the Manager, approached us and stated that he'd get us seating, if we came back. After such a nice offer, we returned to the Whistle Stop, soon after. We took seats at the bar & met the bartender Haley. We ordered Chicken wings, Onion rings & Mozzarella Sticks, plus a wine & beer. We had a nice visit, "Great" Bar food & will definitely return to the Whistle Stop during our next visit to Boca Raton. I love this place. I tell everybody about it. Would you like a good, fairly clean, and cheap dive-y bar that isn't packed full of people or pumping out really loud bad music? This is the place. Whenever we go, there are people there, but it's not packed. It's easy to get service, and the staff will pay attention and get you a drink quickly. We've never had bad service in the few times we have been. They have a decent variety of beers and are all well priced. Well drinks are amazingly cheap, especially for the area, and they don't lack in alcohol. Don't come here for a frou-frou cocktail made with handmade syrups and stuff, but also know their liquor drinks are tasty and pack a punch. I got a pint glass full of pretty damn delicious made-with-sour-mix margarita last time, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was great for the low price (go down the street a bit and you'll get basically the same thing in a teeny glass for 15 because the clientele changes.) Here's where the surprise came. The food is actually good. We were a little weary when a neighbor mentioned they didn't love the food, but I just had to break down and order that adult grilled cheese. I have to tell you, it is in my top 5 grilled cheeses ever, and I wasn't drunk that night, I promise you. Gooey cheese? Check. Well grilled and buttered bread, not too soft, and not so crispy it cuts my mouth? Check. Amazing, crispy bacon (and a lot of it) - Check. A fun addition? That bacon jam is super yummy. I love bacon jam, and the sweetness is perfect here. My husband wasn't in love with the sweetness, but I found it perfect. If you aren't a huge fan of sweet, I would suggest asking if they can go light on it, but still get it on there! A great bar all around. It definitely helps that I can walk here ;) read more

I've been here a few times before and had an ok experience but today was by far my worst experience anywhere I've been before! We walk in on a busy Football Sunday to only see one person working the bar. Waiting 20 minutes for drinks and over an hour for food. We ended up cancelling the food order because the bartender kept forgetting to place the order. The worst part was as the one bartender was running around, the owner was sitting at one of the tables eating wings and not helping AT ALL. It's a BAR...the reviews we're very misleading thinking it was more of a sports bar/sit down eating. There was 1 waiter on a Sunday night for the ENTIRE bar, since we were new she seemed uninterested in serving us much and served her regulars first. The guys were loud and rowdy and the food wasn't even mediocre, it was very BASIC bar food. Update 06/05/2017 - Okay, fair is fair. We've been back to Whistle Stop a number of times and their service is much improved, albeit still hit or miss. Most of the food is well above bar quality, and their nightly specials are pretty hard to beat. And yes, I have to agree, their wings are the best in Boca. Terrible. Waited for 15 minutes, never saw a server. No one even cares that we walked out. I hope the place that leases the space after they go out of business is better. read more

This was our first time here...what a pleasant surprise! I did a Build Your Own chicken breast sandwich (you can do same with a burger)- provolone and sautéed mushrooms on a Kaiser roll. Really fresh bread (this matters tremendously with a great sandwich!) the chicken was cooked to perfection...tender and juicy, not at all overdone. Yummy mushrooms! I order my fries well-done...also cooked to perfection. My husband had scrumptious onion rings, and a Big Bird Panini...funny name for a fresh roasted sliced turkey sandwich. He deemed it delicious! Kitchen staff really knows their stuff! Everything we ate tasted really fresh, nor previously cooked. There are a number of interesting items on the menu I'm anxious to try! We are very excited to find this place as it's going to be a SUPER PLACE to watch games this season! I was in town on business and did a Yelp scan of the area and saw some good reviews for Whistle Stop. I went in twice and was impressed both times. Got the BYOBurger the first time and it was cooked perfect. Got the Steak Philly the second time and it was awesome. The bartenders, Becca and T, are on point. Never had a lull in service once... There are huge, high def tv's surrounded the whole establishment with anything you want on. Great sports bar with a local feel. Highly recommended. read more

Amazing food, great prices, and quality service! The bartenders and barbacks are super friendly and very accommodating. I came in one day when it was pretty busy, The usual bartender was occupied at the bar, but the barback Connor saw me and took my order. He made my drink and went back to the kitchen to make my burger. (exactly how I like it) He made sure I was satisfied and later the bartender Casey came and made sure everything was alright. Visiting Boca Raton & taking a day off from the beach & pool to shop & sightsee. Found the WhistleStop in a shopping mall. The grilled salmon was on the "test" menu and it was very delicious! Hope they add it to their permanent menu. My side of mixed veggies was steamed to perfection! Everything was juicy & delicious. My 10yr old had the grilled cheese from the kids menu and it was generously sized and delicious too!! The 12 beers on tap are constantly rotating. I'm from NYC and am down here visiting my brother who just moved from West Delray to East Boca. Started looking for local spots to have a good burger and wings; two of my favorites. I saw that this place had some pretty good reviews, so decided to try it. Went yesterday, which was a Tuesday and decided to have a burger as Wednesday is their wings day, so figured I'd try them the next day. The burger was really good and had a really nice char flavor to it. The wings though, were a different story. Their hottest buffalo sauce, renegade, was not hot at all. Not only were they stingy with the sauce, but also with the "blue cheese" dressing. Every extra tiny container of blue cheese, which barely had anything in it, was $0.50, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that it couldn't have had any blue cheese in it, because it simply didn't have the slightest taste of blue cheese. Basically it tasted like a whole lot of mayonnaise with some type of unidentifiable cheese thrown in. When I went both times for lunch, the place was not that busy, but the bartender was quite busy because she's not only taking care of the whole bar, but the indoor and outdoor seating areas as well. If you go, definitely have the burger, but if you want wings and are not that particular about your sauce or blue cheese, then they will hit the spot as well. read more

Really enjoyed the food, the service at the bar, the large easily seen TV's and the friendly patrons we met, as we enjoyed a few cold beers, while sitting on bar stools with BACKS on them. :) We both felt the outside entrance area was in desperate need of clean up, especially the condition of the front door. As that is where people smoke you have to go through that area to enter the bar and thus makes for a poor first impression.
