On recommendation of our dentist, we tried some videos to help him with speech, but we were not successful on our own. After a Zoom call with Ariel and Ahmad, the speech therapist, we felt very confident and comfortable with Fairfax Pediatric Therapy. After the first session, my son made huge strides in his "sh" sounds - he was actually able to articulate it correctly, even if it was a struggle. Long story short, as of today (3 months after starting) Finn has met all of his speech goals and no longer needs the services. Both Ahmad and Finn worked hard to make this happen - and in such a short time. I didn't expect progress so fast, to be honest. Not only that - my kiddo actually looked forward to the sessions. Ahmad took the time to get to know his interests - chess and strategy games - and built the sessions around play. When we left today, for the last time, Finn said he was going to miss his friend. My daughter has a tendency to get easily distracted and she did wonderfully keeping her engaged yet still loving the therapy. In fact, my oldest daughter often wanted to join in on the fun. My daughter looked forward to her therapy each week and still asks when we can have Kelli come back. In addition to the in-person therapy, Kelli also provided us with fun exercises we could do on our own to supplement our learning and she also provided me support when working through an IEP re-evaluation. I believe it was the best decision we could've made because my son gets both speech and OT therapy that is coordinated. The therapists, all the staff, Judy and Richard have been a wonderful support to our family and we can honestly say that thanks to this amazing team both of my sons have made great progress. My younger son went from not being able to communicate and being afraid of the world around him and many activities that most toddlers do to being able to communicate/have conversations and engaging with other children and activities. He's now making great progress on his fine motor skills, so many of his sensory challenges have resolved and he's even eating different foods/textures now. There are so many progresses my kids have made that it's hard to list them all. I'm thankful we found this facility. Their DIR Floor time approach helped my son to be comfortable with his team so when we started he didn't spend time in meltdown mode and was able to participate and engage with his therapists. I believe this approach was very key to the success we've seen in his progress. I believe having both speech and OT in this whole/body whole/person approach has had a great positive impact. Additionally, the facility really meets their therapy needs with spacious rooms with different themes and different activities to work on different therapy needs. My kids are excited and happy to go to therapy. They are never bored as they go to different rooms each week that keeps them engaged. Judy and Richard and the therapists always make time for me whenever I have a question or just need someone to talk to. Richard really set our minds at ease with dealing the insurance companies. He understand their billing and makes sure we understand our coverage so we can get the most services covered for our kids. The therapists are very knowledgeable and work so well with the kids. Judy has let us look over her library of books and resources and been a great support. We do Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Listening Therapy, Interactive Metronome. Am I really the first?…read more My son sees Ms. Lindsay and Ms. Magdelena for OT and Speech. He used to see Jo Ann until the scheduling didn't work out. They have two locations: Annandale and McLean. We've been to both. The Annandale location is closer to us to drive to from Loudoun County, although I prefer the McLean location...because there are more things to do while waiting. Annandale not so much, you have to sit put. We've been very very happy with Skill Builders and my son gets excited to see his therapists each visit. I mean he runs happy from the car to the office and can't wait, especially for Ms. Lindsay for OT. We drive an hour each way from the next county over just to come here.

I appreciate that perspective, and I wanted to add my own experience as a longtime family caregiver. I'm not an attorney or a healthcare professional - just someone who's spent the last decade immersed in elder care, including leading caregiver support groups. My mom has lived at Chantilly Heights for over two years, and I'm sharing based on that firsthand, ongoing experience. My mom has lived at Chantilly Heights Memory Care since December 2022, and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Fun fact: she earned the rare distinction of being the first (and to my knowledge, still only) resident to move herself in - meaning she was physically fit enough to do it with me and a U-Haul we rented together! I spent six months researching facilities before choosing Chantilly Heights, specifically looking for a community dedicated solely to memory care (rather than combined assisted living/memory care facilities). After experiences with two other facilities and reviewing many more, I became convinced that a specialized memory care environment would be best for my mom. Chantilly Heights (then known as Arbor Terrace Fairfax) has consistently proven that belief correct. When I first toured, Cre Jackson, the Facilities Director, was the first person to take me around. Cre set a welcoming tone from the start and has remained a trusted advisor ever since. Rachel Moore later guided us through onboarding and did a stellar job walking us through every step. While Rachel has since moved on (as another reviewer noted), my experience has been that from the front desk to the kitchen team to management and care staff, the people at Chantilly Heights genuinely care. It's clear for many that elder care isn't just a job - it's a calling - and the emotional intelligence they show daily is remarkable. That said, no place is perfect. There have been periodic staffing changes (common in this industry), and about six months after my mom moved in, Arbor Terrace divested, with Hamister Group taking over and rebranding the community as Chantilly Heights. That transition brought challenges, but through it all, the team - particularly Executive Director Brian Zurakowski -remained committed and supportive. As the only child of two parents facing late-stage degenerative disease, I can say this journey has been made far more manageable thanks to the team at Chantilly Heights. I believe strongly that contractual relationships should be rooted in fairness and satisfaction, and Brian's team has more than upheld their end over the last three years I've been involved with them. During my mom's time there, she transitioned from the higher-functioning to the lower-functioning neighborhood, giving me a full view of the community's care across different needs and stages. Based on this experience, I've confidently recommended Chantilly Heights to several friends - and two have since moved their own parents in. This is hard work, and not everyone is cut out for it - but the staff here perform beautifully at a very difficult and important job. I also appreciate Chris Mays for sharing his experience. Having supported another family member through a similar transition, I suspect his review reflects the challenges of the handoff from Arbor Terrace to Hamister. I've spent many hours with Brian and his staff and have always found them to be responsive - and importantly, proactive. They don't just react to issues; they work with me to stay ahead of them.
