I have been reading with my daughter since completed the intensive and I see zero improvement in her ability to identify sight words, sound words out, or blend sounds. If anything, I feel she is almost more resistant to reading now and less confident. There is a10-minute meeting allotted after the intensive, for the lead therapist to fill you in - i was so looking forward to hearing what she had improved on and what to work with her on in the future. It was obvious that the therapist had not prepared to meet with us and gave us very general feedback ("she made huge progress, is a sweet child, we worked on cvc words"). I still have not received a report on what she worked on or her progress, or what I should be working on with her. The therapist did say, "i would recommend her coming back 4 days a week for the foreseeable future" ...why would I continue on when I have seen zero improvement and possibly backward steps of confidence with my child? I would guess this place was pretty great at one time... but now they seem interested in just collecting your money and going through the motions vs putting concentrated work in with kids. Also, i had to ask 3 times to get a superbill to submit to insurance, to try to get some time of reimbursement....in my opinion, that should be prepared in advance and sent out at the end of the last day, since you pay in full at the time of registration for the class.

I saw a huge improvement in her reading ability and confidence, and over all academic success. Our child had no interest in reading or being read to. They now select their own books for recreational reading. Susan worked with us with all aspects of helping our child, from home based activities, to school IEP program guidance. But we did discuss perhaps occupational therapy to help her with feeding for future development. So we booked a few feeding OT sessions with Nadia and my daughter was in love with her from day 1. She was kind, patient and instantly connected with our daughter in trying to pin point the best way to encourage her to open up on how she interacts with food. Would highly recommend.

My son has been attending speech therapy sessions at Fairfax Pediatric Therapy since early January…read more He is almost 9 and has always struggled with his "s," "sh," and "ch" sounds - but we waited to see if he would grow out of it (he didn't). On recommendation of our dentist, we tried some videos to help him with speech, but we were not successful on our own. After a Zoom call with Ariel and Ahmad, the speech therapist, we felt very confident and comfortable with Fairfax Pediatric Therapy. After the first session, my son made huge strides in his "sh" sounds - he was actually able to articulate it correctly, even if it was a struggle. Long story short, as of today (3 months after starting) Finn has met all of his speech goals and no longer needs the services. Both Ahmad and Finn worked hard to make this happen - and in such a short time. I didn't expect progress so fast, to be honest. Not only that - my kiddo actually looked forward to the sessions. Ahmad took the time to get to know his interests - chess and strategy games - and built the sessions around play. When we left today, for the last time, Finn said he was going to miss his friend. They have two locations: Annandale and McLean. We've been to both. The Annandale location is closer to us to drive to from Loudoun County, although I prefer the McLean location...because there are more things to do while waiting. Annandale not so much, you have to sit put. We've been very very happy with Skill Builders and my son gets excited to see his therapists each visit. I mean he runs happy from the car to the office and can't wait, especially for Ms. Lindsay for OT. We drive an hour each way from the next county over just to come here.

I believe it was the best decision we could've made because my son gets both speech and OT therapy that is coordinated. My younger son went from not being able to communicate and being afraid of the world around him and many activities that most toddlers do to being able to communicate/have conversations and engaging with other children and activities. He's now making great progress on his fine motor skills, so many of his sensory challenges have resolved and he's even eating different foods/textures now. Their DIR Floor time approach helped my son to be comfortable with his team so when we started he didn't spend time in meltdown mode and was able to participate and engage with his therapists. My kids are excited and happy to go to therapy. They are never bored as they go to different rooms each week that keeps them engaged. Judy and Richard and the therapists always make time for me whenever I have a question or just need someone to talk to. Richard really set our minds at ease with dealing the insurance companies. He understand their billing and makes sure we understand our coverage so we can get the most services covered for our kids. The therapists are very knowledgeable and work so well with the kids. And yes, they offer validated parking, whoop whoop. The ladies at the reception desk are very warm and welcoming as well as very accommodating with whatever your needs are. Whether I have dealt with them face to face or on the phone, they are always super pleasant, polite and helpful. The waiting room is set up to occupy both kiddos and adults alike so there is something to keep everyone busy for the incredible and unheard-of super short wait before you are seen by your therapist. Can I get an AMEN to that!!! I have been seeing Susan Dixon, MS, CCC-SLP aka "Susie" and she is soooooo wonderful. She put me right at ease and was super empathetic with what all I had gone through and was going to continue to go through. Even though I often (ok always, lol) feel like an idiot doing the exercises required for the therapy and I joked that I don't like it, she is so much fun that you can't help but feel comfortable and cared for in her very capable hands. (I also pray there is no hidden camera somewhere catching my goofball self in action, JK!) The offices are very clean and tidy and they also have a very large room that is fully equipped for physical therapy and they offer both in-patient and out-patient treatment for all their services.
