On recommendation of our dentist, we tried some videos to help him with speech, but we were not successful on our own. After a Zoom call with Ariel and Ahmad, the speech therapist, we felt very confident and comfortable with Fairfax Pediatric Therapy. After the first session, my son made huge strides in his "sh" sounds - he was actually able to articulate it correctly, even if it was a struggle. Long story short, as of today (3 months after starting) Finn has met all of his speech goals and no longer needs the services. Both Ahmad and Finn worked hard to make this happen - and in such a short time. I didn't expect progress so fast, to be honest. Not only that - my kiddo actually looked forward to the sessions. Ahmad took the time to get to know his interests - chess and strategy games - and built the sessions around play. When we left today, for the last time, Finn said he was going to miss his friend. I believe it was the best decision we could've made because my son gets both speech and OT therapy that is coordinated. The therapists, all the staff, Judy and Richard have been a wonderful support to our family and we can honestly say that thanks to this amazing team both of my sons have made great progress. My younger son went from not being able to communicate and being afraid of the world around him and many activities that most toddlers do to being able to communicate/have conversations and engaging with other children and activities. He's now making great progress on his fine motor skills, so many of his sensory challenges have resolved and he's even eating different foods/textures now. There are so many progresses my kids have made that it's hard to list them all. I'm thankful we found this facility. Their DIR Floor time approach helped my son to be comfortable with his team so when we started he didn't spend time in meltdown mode and was able to participate and engage with his therapists. I believe this approach was very key to the success we've seen in his progress. I believe having both speech and OT in this whole/body whole/person approach has had a great positive impact. Additionally, the facility really meets their therapy needs with spacious rooms with different themes and different activities to work on different therapy needs. My kids are excited and happy to go to therapy. They are never bored as they go to different rooms each week that keeps them engaged. Judy and Richard and the therapists always make time for me whenever I have a question or just need someone to talk to. Richard really set our minds at ease with dealing the insurance companies. He understand their billing and makes sure we understand our coverage so we can get the most services covered for our kids. The therapists are very knowledgeable and work so well with the kids. Judy has let us look over her library of books and resources and been a great support. We do Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Listening Therapy, Interactive Metronome. The intake evaluation is quite long, but the team at ITC was so warm and personable that my 2-year old was able to sit through it with no issues at all. The team is incredibly knowledgeable about toddler speech development and patiently, expertly, and compassionately answered all of my questions after the intake. They provide such a comprehensive evaluation that makes you feel like you're in good hands right from the get-go. The speech therapist we were connected with, through Therapy 4 Kids, Chandra Williams, was truly exceptional in providing me with a tailored toolkit to help my son catch up in his language development. She is very intelligent, intuitive, personable, and our sessions seemed to fly-by. I implemented her suggestions week to week and noticed a monumental improvement in my sons speech in just a couple of months. He went from "atypical" language development to catching up to his peers in such a short time frame and I credit that improvement to Chandra's expert support. My son loved his sessions with Chandra, and would often cry when she left. Throughout the entire process, Meghann McConnell checked in periodically to follow-up and see how the sessions were going, which was very much appreciated and made us feel well taken care of. I can't say enough good things about ITC and will be forever grateful to them for supporting my son as he overcame this challenge.

Not to mention that the want you to fill out TONS of paperwork and provide copies of your identification when it will be over a year before they even see you for an evaluation. Paperwork that, by the time they finally grace you with their attention in 12-18 months, will no longer be relevant. They seriously need to reevaluate their intake process and ESPECIALLY who they have representing them on the phone. It is hard enough dealing with a new autism diagnosis and finding ABA services. Don't make it harder on parents with attitude and an unnecessarily complicated process. So glad we found a different provider who was actually helpful and compassionate.

And yes, they offer validated parking, whoop whoop. The ladies at the reception desk are very warm and welcoming as well as very accommodating with whatever your needs are. Whether I have dealt with them face to face or on the phone, they are always super pleasant, polite and helpful. The waiting room is set up to occupy both kiddos and adults alike so there is something to keep everyone busy for the incredible and unheard-of super short wait before you are seen by your therapist. Can I get an AMEN to that!!! I have been seeing Susan Dixon, MS, CCC-SLP aka "Susie" and she is soooooo wonderful. She put me right at ease and was super empathetic with what all I had gone through and was going to continue to go through. Even though I often (ok always, lol) feel like an idiot doing the exercises required for the therapy and I joked that I don't like it, she is so much fun that you can't help but feel comfortable and cared for in her very capable hands. (I also pray there is no hidden camera somewhere catching my goofball self in action, JK!) The offices are very clean and tidy and they also have a very large room that is fully equipped for physical therapy and they offer both in-patient and out-patient treatment for all their services. My oldest graduated from her speech class today and the difference in how she talks is INCREDIBLE in less than 3 months. Janine was also the one to tell us (before our pediatrician!) that my daughter has enlarged tonsils, which was also affecting her speech. Janine really genuinely cares for her students and has made a profound impact on my daughter. I have 2 other kids who I will definitely sign up if they start to encounter the same speech problems. Janine was great, she's attentive, patient, and engaging when playing and helping my son with his speech. She would provide tips and exercises to practice at home when not in therapy. Janine is very knowledgeable, and was able to answer most of my questions, We started seeing her in Oct, and b/c of covid and sickness, it's been on and off. However, within few months, I can see big improvement in my son's speech. He went from using one word communication, to 2 words. Now he's singing songs, even though I can only understand half of the lyrics. :)
