This was my first visit here. I'm still waiting on my food in the lobby and it's been 35 minutes. They forgot to put my order in and tried to argue that we didn't call in an order. Then once my food was ready (42 min later) I asked if she had forgotten to put In the order, and she argued "I told you 40 minutes!" Great taste every time, we've tried many different items on the menu and always been pleased. We usually get take out and the one day I decided to eat in was a holiday and they were short staffed which slowed down getting our order taken and check but the food was great so it was fine. Polite staff and a cool pirate ship toy over the fish tank in the back makes waiting for your to go order more interesting. Stopped in for a quick, late lunch on 1-19-13 I was surprised as I thought their food had gotten way better than it use to be. Perhaps they were either recently sold or they had a new chef. Don't get me wrong, it has always been good but it seemed quite a bit better than in the past. The one tip I would give is this place uses a more real world spiciness scale so if you want it medium or 3, it will be a three. This is quite often unlike many places in Vancouver where a 5 is more like a 1. We had some of my usual staples Pa Nang, Pad KeMow an Satay as an appetizer. Everything was prepared perfectly, and delivered pretty fast too. The spice is laid on generously, so when they ask you how spicy you want it, understand that the normal person's "2" is actually going to feel like a "3" or "4" when delivered. I have been to every Thai restaurant in the Portland/Vancouver area and even some in Seattle and I can say this is by far the best Pad Thai I have ever tried. Absolutely the best flavor and best tasting meat. My go to is the beef pad thai spicy lvl 2 no peanuts, if im feeling a little spicy I would go lvl 3 spice. I can proudly say I went there close to 100 times by now and I still crave the insane flavors they have to offer. And that's only the pad thai, Im sure everything else on the menu is just as good. This place was just ok. Vancouver has so many Thai restaurants and found other places to be way better. Took a couple friends here for lunch yesterday and found the crying tiger to be very dry and similar to a carne asada steak put on top of a bed of lettuce. The broccoli beef was good, the tofu was good but the crispy chicken salad was yuck and was basically a kitchen katsu on top of a bed of chopped lettuce. I decided to try out Talay Thai after driving past it s bunch of times, and I'm glad i stopped by. I ordered their Pad Thai and Salad Rolls and found that the salad roll and it's accompanying peanut sauce were very good and also a large portion (I recommend sharing with friends). The pad thai itself was good, and I recommend asking for a higher spice level to really get the different flavors through. The staff was nice and the service was fast. Overall it was a good thai restaurant, and if you find yourself in the area you should stop and check it out. read more

I love Talay it's not even a mile from my house and I absolutely adore their massaman curry I could eat it every single day if I could! I will have to say their mango sticky rice is always pretty terrible to the point I cannot eat it:/ disappointing but the rest of the food is so good it makes up for it. read more

A solid 4 stars -I reserve 5 stars for something "over the top" good. Contrary to Jackie G, I have found Thai I didn't like...but this one I did. The wait staff was reasonably attentive. Our food was brought quickly and the order was accurate. Flavors were very good. Given the usual Van-tucky spice levels , we ordered 4 star heat...and darned if it wasn't what I'd consider 4 star. For us it was near the top of comfortable, but even so, it was darned tasty. We ordered several of our standards as a new restaurant comparison (Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry Chicken) and Thai Cashew Chicken), and all were tasty. If I had to "complain" about anything (1) the Diet Coke tasted like bar-shot mixer (not the best), (2) we weren't offered the condiment plate (with the hot chili oil etc) although in this case we didn't need it. (3) I really dislike sit-down restaurants that give you a single paper napkin, while serving on stoneware. On a Wednesday night at around 7PM, there were only a few table occupied, but a lot of take-out traffic. Will we go back? Definite yes. Prices were reasonable. The egg rolls and pot stickers are delicious...just do yourself a HUGE favor and let them sit for a hot minute before popping one into your mouth! Their food is hot and fresh! I have the flaming beef and it was amazing! Watch out for the large chunks of garlic (not a bad thing trust me), they're tasty but can be a surprise. My other two dinner companions had the sweet and sour chicken and the lemon grass pad thai, both of which received rave reviews. Bring 8 months pregnant and craving Thai food, I located this establishment as it was closer to our house than Ginger Pop, where we normally go, and open until 9:30 pm. I called ahead while my husband left to grab it, the lady who answered the phone said "Hi, how can I help you?" in a less than thrilled voice, and I was confused as to whether I has called the right establishment as there was no identifying name in the greeting. I asked to put in a to-go order and she rudely informed me that I could but it would have to be cash as they had shut down their credit machine. I was confused as it was literally 9:05 pm, and asked if they had already closed, to which she replied that no, but they were shutting down. Keep in mind, this was all said in the rudest tone. My coworkers and I get lunch takeout here at least once a week. They are awesome at handling our large orders and splitting up the bills. Their food is delicious! Some of my favorites: Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Pad Thai Kee Mao, Green Curry. They have started doing sushi, and that has been good too. Their Miso Soup is YUMMY!
