A friend of mine told me about the churros at this location and while we were in town, she jumped over and got some and brought them to our table in the bakery Square area. These are super big - come out super hot and are nothing but sugary goodness! It comes with chocolate and caramel dipping sauce, and that caramel is some of the best I've ever had. I love a good taco - an authentic taco, a homemade taco, a taco Tuesday taco, Tex-Mex taco... you get the gist. Any taco is good as long as it's delicious! Unfortunately Pittsburgh has a dearth of great taco places, so I was really excited about Tako Torta. Fortunately, the tacos here were great! I'm not sure how authentic they are, but they are super delicious. Tako Torta is my go to place for tacos in Pittsburgh, and it's so easy to come here for a weekday night and then to Jeni's for dessert. The options other than tacos are... okay. Tako Torta must be Japanese for Cold Food. I have no idea how they did what they did, but these were not served appropriately. Here's a taco run down! Carne Asada Taco - The meat was almost refrigerator cold Octopus Taco - It was tender and delicious, but lukewarm at best Fried Shrimp - The shrimp was cold, but still crunchy Buffalo Chicken - The chicken was the warmest of them all, but not hot. I got this after I said something about the other tacos and this one STILL wasn't hot. Our server disappeared for a while after the food came, so it took forever to let her know about the issue. The last thing I wanted was to get sick from food in the Danger Zone. Seafood in the danger zone is even worse. Finally I was able to tell her about it and she was trying to figure out why they were cold. The manager came and apologized and said it came right from the kitchen to our table via the robot server. He said everything is fresh and they don't have heat lamps (maybe they need them, lol). I had to ask him for water refills because our server surely didn't notice. I've eaten many a fried chicken sandwich and if you get one right out of the fryer, you cannot eat it quickly as it's really hot. I ate this fried buffalo chicken taco like it was a leftover chick-fil-a sandwich. There's no way this thing was fresh, even though they said it was. It would be steaming hot if I bit into it. Same with Fried Shrimp. If I get an order at a restaurant, even the last one still has some heat to it. Not a Tako Torta! Cold Crunchy Fried! It's an art form for sure, just not an edible one. The server asked if the "fresh" buffalo chicken taco was better and I said not really and she was just kind of "oh well" about it. They did take the two tacos I didn't eat off the bill, but when the rest of the tacos were cold, it was just a disappointment. I enjoyed Sheetz tacos more than this place (I'm not just saying that either... even my last one of 6 was still hot) It's a shame as the place is beautiful and located in a busy area of town. There's a reason it was mostly empty inside (on a Thursday evening) while the food hall across the street was pretty busy. The Downtown Tako location is amazing (or at least it was when I was there a few years ago). I wish this location lived up to that memory. I want this place to mirror the amazing experiences we always have at Tako downtown, but we consistently find the food lacking and the service inadequate. Which speaking to the latter, if your servers are going to be reduced to robots, maybe don't default your tip option to 22%. The chips and guacamole are the saving grace of the meal, but over time we've found the ube colada to taste decidingly less like ube. The tortas are so disappointing and came with a cold consume. Quite a bit has changed since I last went, the most noticeable changes being a switch to table service and the addition of two robots to help deliver food to your table! The interior was as cute and colorful as I remembered. The happy hour specials on both food and drinks are still pretty good and we ordered a nice mix of both happy hour and non happy hour items. Since I had last been here, the menu has changed completely! There are no longer bowls on the menu and there are wait staff (rather than ordering at the counter). I had the nachos with chorizo. The staff accommodated my gluten allergy but using different cheese than the nachos the menu, which I really appreciate! The margaritas here are fresh too. Overall I liked the meal. A new restaurant in Bakery Square. Parking in the garage less than 2 hours is free and a short walk to the restaurant. We chose to order via the QR code on the table (or you can wait for wait staff) and the food is brought out to you on a robot. I liked that most allergies were listed for each item so that you could select and have the food prepared appropriately. This was a fun experience expect our food was delivered about 15 mins apart since we ordered separately. The pico salsa was a bit spicy (and good), which is listed as mild, and a lot of chips. But, I decided to try out some of their tacos and a dessert to see their baseline. I tried the classic chicken tacos and a tres leches. First thing I noticed is this place is really quite expensive. A single taco can cost $7+. And they are huge tacos or anything like that, just regular size. Now, the quality is pretty high. The chicken was nicely roasted and quite flavorful and tender. They used a nice amount of spice. The cheese they had was kind of plasticy and not my favorite, though. The tortilla itself was nice and thin, soaked up the sauce, and I enjoyed it. The tres leches was also kind of disappointing. Small portion for the price. They also use a lot of blueberries, and that kind of masked the creamy, milky flavorful. Too overpowering. Wouldn't really recommend. All in all, an ok taco and torta place. They have some unique offerings, but the place is expensive and I don't think the quality makes up for the price. read more

This place used to be pretty good - you'd walk up to the counter, pay for reasonably priced and flavorful food, and efficiently pick up your food as it freshly comes out of the kitchen. However, this restaurant has radically changed in recent months: Now the food is way more expensive and unusually bland, to the point that our toddler preferred eating the crayons than the cheese quesadilla. To top it all off, they have a roomba serve your food. This place really feels like it's taken a change of ownership that wants to bleed the place dry before it goes out of business in a few years. After this place shutters, that roomba might still be saying, "Please take your food. Please take your food. Please take your food." The two stars are because the wait staff were very nice when the roomba wasn't interrupting. The owners just need to hire employees and be willing to pay for the ingredients this place used to use. read more

It's now a sit down with a menu (before you would order at the front and pick up your own food). The menu is a little bit different too, so the build your own bowls that I was talking about are no longer on there :( anyways, I got the chips and guac and the Carnitas taco, the shrimp taco and the fish taco and as usual it was all delicious! All the tacos were sooo flavorful. With the new menu, you can order different types of tacos, which I love! My friends actually thought the food was better since the change! I ordered delivery here and everything was made fast and super good! I got the baja chicken torta, my partner got a chicken taco, and then we split the street corn and the queso. The baja chicken torta was super good and filling and a great size for the price. The queso was savory and delicious with the chips and the street corn had a nice freshness to it. My only complaint was that we ordered delivery through the website and the delivery driver forgot the drinks. The restaurant was quick to call and apologize, which I appreciated, but if the drinks aren't going to be stored with the food for the driver, what other places do is not leave the bags of food out for the drivers to access without employee assistance. It's not the end of the world, but it sucks to not get what you paid for. I also couldn't find any information on the uber order, just the order confirmation from the restaurant themselves and a number to contact the driver directly, so I wasn't sure how to even report the problem to uber eats. With all the toppings on the side, you are able to get the right amount of salsa, guac, etc. per chip. My Mediterranean bowl was good except the Brussel sprouts were burnt. The menu says charred carrots. The carrots were charred and delicious. The Brussel sprouts were burnt and inedible. I mentioned to the server asking if they were supposed to be that well done. The server mumbled something and walked away never addressing my question. We sat at the bar after dinner for another drink and trivia which was a good time. Celebrated my 37th birthday with friends at Tako Torta! I love the OG Tako, but the resi's are hella hard to get and I'm too old to be eating tacos at 11:30. Tako Torta is set up like a cafeteria, go order food, drinks and what have you, find a seat (sit under the faux freesia, and do the instagram post to prove you were there) and they'll text you when your glorious tacos are ready! Their tacos come 2 and order, and are more than enough for me. Bring a friend tho, and con them into sharing. So worth it. I love the fish taco! It's probably my favorite thing there. Go. Eat. I was so excited to finally try tako torta and my expectations were definitely exceeded. First off, the interior is so beautiful. I love the giant wall of tequila bottles and the multiple different areas to sit and relax. The bar is also really nice and opens up to the outside patio making it a more Covid friendly option for folks who want to sit at the bar but also want the fresh air. I got a cucumber margarita that was absolutely delicious. And between my partner and I we shared three tacos and chips with guacamole. We were not sure it would be enough food but it definitely was. We went during happy hour and were really glad we did. All of this cost us around $57. Without happy hour prices this would have cost upward of $75. I liked the fish taco best. The chicken one left a lot to be desired flavor-wise, but the pork and fish made up for it. A-mazing. I am always craving Tako but reservations are hard to come by. Tako Torta is so freaking good too and much easier to quickly stop in. My husband and I shared the coconut shrimp taco and the limited fish sandwich (for lent) the fish sandwich is the same as the fish taco, but on a roll. They were both so delicious. The breading on both the shrimp and fish were very crisp, the flavors of the sauces and toppings were perfect and together they were very filling. The restaurant was clean and the food came out pretty fast. They have a private room for events, a live DJ, and plenty of seating. I hope ti be back many many times. We regularly go to Täkō Tôrtä for trivia and always get a little something to munch on. They have a taco Tuesday special which is great because it can get costly if you're buying as a couple. Things I like: - their fish taco is so good! - buzzworthy trivia! The volume is appropriate, there are screens with the questions, plenty of space. - fun to go to with a group, no need to wait for a server. Things I don't like: - service times vary wildly every time. If we order as a group there's always someone who waits 25-30 minutes for 2 tacos. A few years ago, I went to and loved Tako downtown. Hadn't made it back since covid. Found out about this place and g Had to try it after going to Phipps. My family and I loved it. I absolutely love Korean Food, especially in taco form. Once I saw Korean Tacos on the menu, that was it. OMG!! So glad that I did. They made me so happy. The Korean Tacos were to die for. When I saw it was flank steak, I wasn't expecting it to be crunchy and have such a smooth glaze. Glad I got the dragon sauce on the side. I wasn't a fan. My mom loved her coconut shrimp tacos, especially the creamy delicious guacamole. My husband loved parts of the bowl that he created. He loved the flavorful Barbacoa, potatoes and rice. He was not a fan of the cold carrots which was so weird. They had been cooked but then left cold. Made no sense. We both loved the super fresh strawberry lemonade agua Fresca. The other thing I wanted to mention was the kindness and patience of the man running the register. We were asking for things to be left off our dishes and for more information on some ingredients. It's super casual so you have to go up to the counter to order and get drinks. They have frozen margaritas, other cocktails, and other non-alcoholic drinks. It took them long enough but they're finally open at Bakery Square. We stopped in and ordered drinks and tortas. The drinks are superb here, I loved the burning flower and last passion. They both have great flavor and enough booze to keep me happy. We both ordered the ahogada torta, and man it is a flavor bomb between two perfectly cooked buns. They server it with a side this spiced (not spicy) broth that complements the heaviness of the torta. The decor is worthy of mention as well, walls lined high with high end tequilas and mezcal really give a nice vibe to the place. I am hoping this place will get a happy hour at some point, but still the drinks alone are good enough to come back for. read more
