The have a fantastic happy hour with half off some of their drinks and half off certain appetizers and entrees (check thier website!). Their corn bread is a must with thier iconic japelpeno jam spread (though its not included on thier happy hour). They have great sides and appetizers, and haven't had one I didn't like! Their baby back, spare ribs, and brisket are fantastic with sauces on the side if you wanted to more BBQ sauce to your BBQ meat! Though in my opinion, I don't need it usually, as the meats are already so flavorful as is! I'd say its great for groups, though a bit pricy, but boy is this good, hearty, fall of the bone, BBQ! The servers have always been great and kind and even when we were celebrating a birthday last visit, they brought out a icecream Sundae with a candle! Very sweet! I talked to a man at the South Pasadena museum and told us that Gus's is the oldest BBQ establishment in California, serving hungry patrons since 1946. They haven't been in business in over 70 years for nothing! Thought it's been a long time, the place is still well maintained and updated so it still is nice and clean, but still keeping its historic core. Come by this meaty institution for their renowned classic American barbaque, with great libations, great food and amazing service with tasty history!

I'm not sure how I found this place, except I assume it was when I was looking for brick ovens…read morearound Los Angeles for pizza. Anyway, I went a couple days ago right after they opened mid-week. At this time, parking was easy in their tiny lot, but that was probably because of the time, as others have complained how hard parking is. The streets are all near highways, so I don't think there is street parking around there. And, adding to the business in the lot is probably the large dispensary that takes up most of the corner strip mall this place is located in. I went in and ordered a margherita Neapolitan pizza. I also ordered a New Haven style (super thin, crispy almost cracker-like crust with no crust edge around the outside) with sausage and black olives. I would've ordered a Chicago tavern style pizza, as well, but they had just opened and had none and weren't interested in making it right that minute. I guess it had sold out the night before so nothing was left over floating around. Supposedly it has a corn meal crust. I'll have to try it next time. So, I got the pizzas to go, but I knew that pizza rarely travels well. You lose the crispiness by the time you get home. So, I tried a slice of each immediately in the car. The margherita is a little sweet, especially when following the New Haven pie, but it is still very good. The New Haven was a bit of a revelation for me. As a born and bred New Yorker, I know people who moved to Connecticut later in life and talked about this style of pizza, but I never had it before. If you are a crust maniac, this might not have enough crust for you. That's how my kid felt. I, however, really liked the thinness of it. If you eat the Margherita first, before the New Haven, it doesn't come across as sweet, so I recommend you eat in this order. Anyway, I like this place a lot. They also have sicilian, New York style, and Detroit style pies, so you can get a lot of different types of pizzas here. No deep dish Chicago, though. I recommend trying their various pies and will be back. Try it!

This place feels like those old pizza joints in NYC - sparse, with good pizza. We got the Margherita Neopolitan pizza and an NY pizza with mushrooms and spinach (drizzled with hot honey - actually, my partner was saying there was a hot honey pizza, which I didn't see on the menu and thought it was just the drizzle, so will have to come back for that next time). The pizza was really fresh - we had it there. Also got the first timer's discount, which was a nice surprise! I'm looking forward to trying some other other pizzas - they have so many styles of pizza, so I'm curious how well they do all of them. They do have a bathroom in the back, but I didn't get a chance to check it out this time.

Off the bat, Big Ants BBQ was the better choice and it's such an underrated gem! Way more people should come here instead of Moo's. The owners are super friendly, great potion sizes, no wait, and plenty of seating inside, and plenty of parking around. My boyfriend and I got into the brisket, the baby back ribs, two sausage links, a cornbread, the large Mac and cheese and a small coleslaw. Everything was seasoned to perfection and delicious! This is hands down the beat bbq I've had in LA. The baby back ribs were falling off the bones and super juicy, the brisket was also super tender and juicy. The links were really delicious and a had a great smokiness to them. We also loved how fresh and light the coleslaw was and helped break down the richness of the creamy Mac and cheese and the meats. The cornbread was a really good. The bbq sauces, one sweet and one spicy were also really nice. The owner also gave us free water bottles which was very kind of him. The inside was clean and spacious, and air conditioned which was great on a hot day. I also really liked the Mario bros Nintendo theme to their bathroom. We cannot wait to come back and eat more bbq here. I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

We ordered four of the most ordered and highly revered items: tri tip, coconut beef adobo, smoked gouda mac, and the cornbread bibingka. * Tri tip: Ours was cold and not tender.. wasn't very flavorful either. Kinda tasted like the forgotten order that's been left drying on the counter for some time. The price is decent for an entree of tri tip though. Comes with a horseradish sauce + vinegar and bbq sauce on the side, but I didn't think any of these accompaniments were strong on their own. Made the tri tip better but not by much. * Coconut beef adobo: One of the better items. Beef chunks were melt in your mouth and the sauce was a good middle between savory and vinegary - balanced out by sweetness from the coconut. * Smoked gouda mac: Would not order again. The big shell macaroni noodles were soggy; the cheese sauce was mild in flavor, clumpy and not satisfying melty; lastly, the panko crust was just there and didn't add anything imo. * Cornbread bibingka: The other better dish of the night - very moist, muffin like crumb, and not too sweet or heavy. Portion is on the smaller side though. My bf who normally isn't a fan of cornbread enjoyed this!
