I drove for a few seconds around the corner and parked on the street and walked over to the Verdugo Dairy lot which is where the Nickos Sandwich Truck is located. The truck is so cute and small and fits perfectly in the lot without taking up too much space. I looked at the menu and honestly all the sandwiches looked so good that it was hard to just choose one, but I wanted breakfast so I went with the Plain Breakfast Sandwich. I was asked how I want my egg cooked and I chose sunny side up. Options for cheese were swiss or provolone and I couldn't decide and I was able to get a slice of both on my sandwich! I also ordered a bread pudding on the side. After ordering I was given a little buzzer that would go off when my food is ready. I hung out and didn't wait too long until my buzzer went off and it was a nice loud beeping that would be easy to hear if I had left it in my pocket. After the food is ready then you pay. When I went back to my car and I couldn't help myself I ripped open the bag and I was in awe of my sandwich. Look at my photos, do you see that melty stretch of cheese that is so perfect??????????? The brioche bun is soft and fluffy, the egg seasoned with salt and pepper perfectly and cooked to perfection, and the cheese is stretchy and gooey and so delicious. Was I licking the wrapper when I was done? Maybe! If I could give more than 5 stars for my sandwich I would! I love me a banana pudding and I thought I was going to wait to eat it at home, however I could not control myself I popped it open and I gobbled it down. So creamy and delicious with just the right amount of crumbled nilla wafers. I am not in Glendale too often, but you can bet that when I am, I'll be stopping by again! I came on a sunny Saturday afternoon; the interior is upscale, open, with products in the shelf and a menu written on the wall. I made my way to the front to placed my order, with the staff friendly, but not effusive, who made a couple suggestions at my request. I ended up getting the Fig and Pig Panini ($16), which was absolutely excellent, featuring slow-roasted pork, white cheddar cheese, and sweet pieces of fig and fig jam on thin, perfectly crispy piece of thin, toasted ciabatta bread. A perfect combination of sweet and savory, this was as good as previous Yelp reviews suggest, but was tragically quite small (see attached photo). With it I ordered an iced cappuccino ($5.25), which was good, especially with a cinnamon sprinkle on top, but quite small for the price. Unfortunately, over half of it was foam--more than expected even for a cappuccino-style drink. The interior was clean but quite busy. I had to wait about 15 minutes for my food, and the restaurant appeared somewhat understaffed, with many tables needing to be bussed and cleaned. Although I was warned of the wait and the tables were cleaned about 10 minutes in, for an upscale establishment like this, I would hope for more consistent upkeep and slightly more staff. Prices, above, are a bit elevated and somewhat disproportionate to the quantity of food provided. However, given the ritzy, popular setting, they are not entirely unreasonable. If you're looking an upscale, delicious Italian sandwich in the heart of the Glendale Galleria, you'd be hard-pressed to do better than Deluca's. I ordered the Italian Beef Sandwich, and while I was waiting, the owner handed me a bottled water and then brought over a sample of their off menu lobster roll to try. Such a nice, unexpected gesture. The lobster roll was excellent. The Italian Beef was fantastic too. Great ingredients, great people, and the kind of place where you can tell they really care about what they're doing. Definitely one of those neighborhood spots you're happy to discover.
