I am stunned at what I just experienced. I went in for an oil change and I wanted to see if the power steering fluid was normal as the wheel has been harder to turn. After the technician completed the oil change and handed me my receipt, I asked how the power steering fluid looked. He said he hadn't checked. Then he had another technician look, and this man explained they couldn't access it and I had to go to mechanic. I asked why my printout reads that the power steering fluid was at "safe level" if they hadn't checked it. Then he along with another technician (I think his name was Korei) started become verbally aggressive with me telling me to get the hell out. Korei told me to "be a man" and check it myself. My son, who has mental health issues and knows little about cars, went in for an oil change. They recognized him as an easy victim. They told him that the wipers and air filter needed to be changed. They showed him a dirty air filter, which could not have been his, since I had changed it myself a couple of months ago. I had also replaced the windshield wipers with the best wipers available a couple of months ago. They were perfect. He agreed and got a bill for $180. If you don't know exactly what your car needs and resist a fraudulent sale pitch, you are going to get robbed. read more

I asked for a premium oil change upgraded that is $87.99 plus an air filter change at $35 with about $30 in discounts, which should have been about $92 before tax. I got a whopping bill for $132.08 because the guy did a double switch and gave me an advanced full synthetic change I DID NOT request. Also, this location will try to upsell sell you on very expensive things you don't need like differential fluids etc. I like the location and the staff was fine but this was a complete swindle! read more

I've come here several times. Today I came in for oil change I was helped by Mr Daniel and Mr Justice. They were both very friendly and helpful. My car had issued me a oil warning the other day so I stopped by for oil change. Was advised I still had 1500 miles of 5000 miles left on current oil since last change. I was 2 quarts down. So the told me I must have a leak and refilled my missing oil at no charge. This is good service they could've just taken my money for oil change but they helped me out. So thank you to these two. I do not recommend!!! I went yesterday, but got no service from the S. Braeswood location. The light skinned guy with the terrible teeth and tattoos was highly rude. I asked about the point in giving out $25 coupons if I'm still going to end up paying the original price. He said oh you came in with an attitude and I said no I didn't, but I got one then because who says that to the customer? I then asked to make sure my fluids were checked and he said oh we're going to do that. My response was because it wasn't done the first time I came. He said that doesn't have anything to do with us and he's telling me what they're going to do right now. Arrived for a 7:00 appt I made online. No one here. (Sign out front brags about now being open at 7 am and that they are a partner of the Astros.) Finally went in and was told by a young man yeah well the manager isn't here so {shrug}. I suggested they need to change the online appointment system if they don't actually have appointments. I was told the young man couldn't do anything. I suggested he talk to his manager. He said he had but {shrug}. I asked for the name of his manager. He was silent. I said you really do have to give that information -- it's a business. He said just a minute and left the office for the bay. He's been hiding back there for 10 minutes. A customer came in to the empty office and asked if they were open. I told him the story and recommended Jiffy Lube. Just peeked in the bays. The whole place is empty. Dude just disappeared! I recently visited this Take 5 location and unfortunately, the service was quite slow. While I appreciated their assistance with my tire pressure, the overall experience was underwhelming. I have visited several Take 5 locations throughout Houston in the past, and this was by far the slowest. Having experienced other locations where vehicles were serviced more efficiently, it's difficult for me to recommend this particular location to others. read more

Located next to McDonalds on Braeswood. Came here for an oil change. There were cars in front of me but the line moved fast. They check tires and top off everything and cleaned the front and back windshield free of charge. Offered me a bottled water. There was a coupon when I looked on line. So check to see if there are any deals. The guy kept taking about a tip, which I've NEVER tipped for an Oil change. So idk what he was talking about. That really annoyed me. Am I missing some thing? My son was just charged almost $100 for a synthetic blend oil change. And that was *after* a $20 coupon. No filters were changed. They charged him the special "high mileage" rate. Such a rip-off. This Take 5 is near my neighborhood. The techs checked everything on my car. They refilled the windshield wash fluid reservoir, added air to the tires, changed the engine oil, and replaced my air filter. After servicing the car, I had them perform the annual inspection required to register the car. In all, the techs were fast and efficient. read more

By my husband's request we changed air filter, and something else was checked. Great check up. Thank God our car is healthy. Technicians gave us advice: come back after 3000 miles. A free check. Stopped in due to Lexus dealer being backed up. They did not have correct tool to remove oil filter. After a very long wait it finally was removed. Car was jostling a lot during removal. Took it to Lexus for follow up change. The under body belly pan was missing/destroyed. If you have a Toyota/Lexus run. They are hack job teenagers with no accountability and deny any liability. I was hesitant to go somewhere that wasn't my usual mechanic but this place is so conveniently close to me. The customer service was awesome! I stayed in my car the whole time and the techs checked my tire pressure and air filters on top of the oil change! I want to get a car inspection and they are open from 9 AM to 5 PM every day but the car inspection guy has not showed up yet and no one knows when he'll show up. These guys always try to rip me off by telling me I need stuff I don't. They act like they are experts, but they are idiots. I only go there because it is close to my work. This time they told me I had to put the $95 oil in my car or the engine would be destroyed. They had 4 different guys argue with me for 5 minutes before they would start working. The place is convenient. For the most part I think they did everything ok and they said they topped stuff off. Only problem I have is that they filled my tires without asking and got rid of my stock valve covers for cheap plastic ones. They're about $20 and were replaced with plastic. The continuously advertised oil change special is $19.95 ... try and get it. My one experience there involved a 4-cylinder 2011 Toyota Camry XLE. I specifically asked for the $20 deal ... but when it came time to check out, the bill was $39. When I inquired as to why, I was informed that the XLE takes a "special" oil filter, and that additional services were performed (top-off, vacuum, etc.), none of which I requested. I stepped outside and phoned my Toyota dealer, who advised me that the 4-cylinder Camry does not require any sort of special filter, irrespective of model (all have the identical engine) ... in fact, the same one is used in many Toyota vehicles. When I confronted the manager with the information, he disputed it (despite it coming directly from Toyota service), but gave me a "break" of $3 off the bill. I reluctantly paid it, but filed complaints with the appropriate agencies. Needless to say, they've seen me for the last time. I understand up-selling, but outright lying is another matter. Nice employees, really helpful, knowledgeable, and quick. They changed my cabin air filter that I had no idea existed, because it's never been suggested before or ever mentioned. Unlike other places the only services they offered were things I needed. They even hesitated to change my oil because it still looked good, but as I'm driving an older car I opted for the oil change anyway. I also got my car inspected. I'm absolutely coming back.
