Arrived at 10am for a brake consultation and was immediately greeted and helped by Halil. After taking my car back he brought me to do a walk around of the car and talked about everything that was checked during the consultation, made some recommendations and was able to show and explain everything I inquired about. It was nice considering at most of these places, they see a young girl and assume you don't know anything about cars or don't want to know so they just say "you need x,y,z and it's going to be this much". Afterward he showed me prices and offered different options. He wasn't salesy in the slightest, but he was very thorough in making sure I knew about the services i would need in the future if i chose not to do them same day. Ended up getting my roders resurfaced and brake fluid replaced. Total $170 + tax not bad. read more

1501 N. Loop W Fwy Houston, TX. Biggest Scam / Ripp Off!!! Manager Paul is a con artist and so is ALL his staff. They put your vehicle on lift and the proceed to tell you EVERYTHING is wrong. I went in for a knock in my left side of vehicle. 2k later i left brake check with the EXACT SAME knock i went in with. Took it back. Because they would not talk to me on phone. Paul fixed it eventually; but then charged me an additional 300.00. No sorry No apology for being scammed. Will never do business with these types of ripp off companies or people. read more

Made an appointment the day before and upon arrival Marvin was late. When he walked in, he immediately demanded for my key. No greeting, no apology for being late, nothing. I proceeded to walk to my vehicle to move it to the front for Marvin to pull in and he proceeded to debate with me about it. He lacked professionalism, common sense, and kindness. I'd never come here again. Which is why I left without proceeding forward with getting my car serviced. read more

Unskilled mechanics, always trying to solicit additional services on the customer. If I go in for an oil change, just change my oil!

I thought something was wrong with my brakes and wanted to get a professional check. Rick immediately took my car for a test drive, then did the inspection. He showed me himself how the brakes are supposed to work and what they should look like. Mine were a mess. He gave me a quote and needed to order a part. It was rushed over and they began work immediately. Also, I was able to get financing approved right away and I was back out again shortly. Both Rick and Leon were professional, friendly, respectful and knew their stuff. I would definitely come back should the need arise, but I'm confident it won't be for a while since I feel safe with my braking system now. Thanks to them of course. read more

Brake and Tire Check - Next time I'll need 1 - Auto Repair Near Me - Houston, Texas

dangerously uneducated on working on vehicle. tried to drive out of the parking lot and realized I didn not have brakes, at all. After 5 hours of waiting after they told me it would take one two hours tops. Ended up having to take it to another place for them to fix everything they incorrectly installed and they would not give me a refund discount or anything. read more

My sister went in to get a simple rotor resurface and brake bad change and ended up spending over $700 parts and labor for her Nissan Rogue. They will take advantage of you if you don't know your way around cars and try to sell you on bs such as needing "new caliper clips" for $60!! ($8 at orielys). This shop is untrustworthy and sly. I thought these guys did a great job. I've been to a couple of brake checks before and they're always given a bad rap, but I've been pleased with my brake services. They were quick and completed my brake job on front and rear within 1.5 hours....they estimated a longer time but finished quickly. Affordable price in my opinion as well. read more

They've had my car for four days now after taking it in to them for a spongy brake pedal. What started as a $500.00 quote has tripled. After they replaced the master cylinder i drove to the store from their location, the car shuddered and died after engine light came on. I had the car towed AT MY EXPENSE after they said to either have it towed or drive it back with no other offer of help. After half a day, I was told I needed a sensor at over $200.00. In their way to pick me up with my car, same symptoms. After more time I was told I needed at over $400.00three additional parts that would fix the problem. Each time it would've cost me $400+, $200+, $500+ had I not asked for a reduced labor cost. They basically replaced my entire brake system trying to eliminate the problem. Their lack of professionalism and experience COST ME. Scott was condescending and rude when I called to get an update on a Sunday. He lied and said the car would be done after I explained that I would need to arrange for a rental car since I worked the next day. By the time he called and said the car wouldn't be ready, it was too late to arrange for a rental. My prior interactions with them had been positive, but after this experience, I recommend you go somewhere else at all cost unless time and money are of no consequence. read more

BEWARE!! I had my daughter bring the Mazda 6 by Brake Check and they replaced the pads and rotors front and rear. The handed her the keys and she was on her way. Just before getting on the freeway one of the wheels was making noise and grinding. She returned immediately. When she got back to the shop the wheel was wedged in the wheel well. The tech lifted the car and the wheel fell off. The personnel either did not replace the lugs or never tightened them because there were none left on that wheel. This is serious!! If my daughter would have entered the freeway there would have been a terrible accident. After she returned home there continues to be noises from under the car and a significant oil leak. Did I forgot to mention they changed the oil and cross threaded the bolt. We have been in contact and their behavior is if they could care less and do not appear interested in getting this mess handled. My daughter is in a rental this week until the car is gone through and repaired. This is incompetence at its worst and extremely dangerous. Can you imaging your kid's wheel flying off on the freeway at high speeds. We were very lucky, she could have been killed. Avoid these guys!! read more

Brake and Tire Check - Oil leaking from pan. - Auto Repair Near Me - Houston, Texas

I went in for an emergency brake service for my work vehicle because the brakes stopped working suddenly. Unfortunately, this was the closest place I could get to for the repair. The service was extremely unprofessional, especially given the urgency of the repair needed. To begin with, it was clear to me that they did not know what they were doing. They ordered the part and proceeded to try and install it the wrong way for two hours, after which they claimed it was the wrong part. After that, they ordered a new part (of the same type), which prolonged the service time even further. When the new part arrived, they continued to attempt installing it the wrong way. It was only after that (along with my advice), that they realized that they were installing the correct part the wrong way. They were being rude the entire time, especially after I helped them realize their mistake. At the end of the service, they neglected to test my vehicle to ensure everything was installed properly. On my way to my client, my rear brakes heated up and started smoking. I had no other choice but to stop and get my vehicle reserviced at another shop. It was revealed to me at the different shop that my brakes weren't completely calibrated. All of this considered, they also charged me an unbelievably high rate. Additionally, the manager added an extra charge of $100 on my bill for a service I didn't even receive. After refusing to pay for the extra charge, they made me wait even longer, as if to punish me, and proceeded to ignore me. Worst experience in my life... I recommend to avoid this place at all costs. It's dangerous to get repairs at this place. read more

Update 5/25/18 This place is quite dirty(globs of hair everywhere..why??) and the waiting area smells. Service was not the friendliest this time around. I called earlier in the week and scheduled an appointment to get alignment and tire rotation. Got to the shop 15 mins early and was told they could not rotate my tires. They said person who took the appointment didn't specify it and they couldn't accommodate. I have lifetime alignment, so I will be back. Hopefully they'll get it together a little more the next time. I went to get my car serviced at Momentum and they quoted me $250($300, but he said he had a coupon) for an alignment. I checked online and brake check has a lifetime alignment for $140. I had previously done something similar with my previous car. I chose this location based on Yelp reviews. Cedric was able to schedule me that day and I was out within 40 mins. Don't expect much from the waiting room. The chairs were kinda run down and the tv reception kept going out. I just popped in my headphones and tried to touch as little of the chair as possible. I don't expect much in ambiance from these types of establishments. This was my first time using brake check and it was only for an alignment. I will update when I hit another 6,000 miles. read more

I'm so glad I found this place. My Manager Seth was great, very knowledgeable and very professional. He took his time to discussing my issues and did an amazing job explaining. He actually went above and beyond to make sure the job is done to a high standard. I'm very happy with my results and I'll definitely recommend this service to everyone. Hands down I had an awesome experience. I should also mention there were two other people in the waiting area sitting with me that gave him stellar reviews. read more

Update: the company quickly made contact with me (within about an hour or two) and offered me a refund in order to remove a post from social media (Facebook), emphasizing that they are a family owned and operated business and that this type of behavior by employees is not tolerated. They told me that a manager was terminated because of the incident and that this experience does not represent the type of company Brake Check aspires to be. I greatly appreciate the speed with which they handled the issue and have deleted the social media post. I scheduled an appointment for today, 10/14/19, at 11:30 am. I left and returned at 3:30. My car was still being worked on at the time but one of the employees said they were finishing up and took me into the office to check out. When I had arrived that morning, there was another man who did not appear to be an employee (I assumed he was another customer at the time) in the waiting room who was talking to all the female customers who walked in and clearly making them uncomfortable. When I walked in to check out that afternoon, he was still there (4 hours later) and was clearly friends with all the other employees. As I was standing in the shop, he began talking to the employees about his cocaine use (even showing everyone a picture of him with white powder on his nose), bragging about performing oral sex on women he pulled up on social media (and showed the picture around), and then addressed me specifically asking if I knew what embalming fluid was. He then proceeded to tell me about how he had gotten high off of it recently, experienced hallucinations, and was unable to move, saying "I was praying 'God please get me off this now and I will never touch it again. Then I did it again the next day.'" Throughout this time, the other employees were laughing, making comments and jokes at his numerous inappropriate references, and egging him on. I will never return to this Brake Check because of this experience and deeply regret having purchased a lifetime alignment from a company that allows this kind of behavior from its employees, especially in front of customers. I would like a refund so that I can purchase a lifetime alignment from an alternative company that will not make myself or other customers feel uncomfortable and belittled. read more

HOW COUPONS WORK If the expiration date says "12/31/18", then a customer should be able to use the coupon on 12/31/18. Tonii, the Assistant Manager would not accept my promotional flyer that was mailed to me because "I got an e-mail that says it expired yesterday". Dang, if Tonii got an e-mail, I guess that must make it official then! Disappointed. I only live .6 miles away and was hoping I had found my new local spot to get my car repairs done at since I am new to Houston. Oh well, lots of other options. Maybe the service is okay, but they sure don't know how to honor their own promotions. read more

The brakes on my car were squeaking awful and could not wait anymore for service. So I did some research and ended up calling this place and making an appointment for my car. Maybe 30 mins in, the mechanic called me back into his shop and started showing me the problem and explaining in a language I could understand haha. I make joke but I really appreciated it and I saw first hand that these guys mean business. An hour and a half later I was on my way out and my car was fixed and I was not milked or talked out of all of my money. New customer and I for sure will be returning, thank you guys for being there and helping me save money, I strongly recommend and will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work guys!!! Y'all rock! read more

I arrived approximately 10 minutes before the closing time, and Mike (the store manager), without mention of the time, promptly assessed my car. I had stopped at this location because my car was not steering corrrectly. In spite of it being nearly an hour after closing, Mike took the time to answer all of my questions and explain each necessary repair, listening patiently and taking the time to make sure that I fully understood each problem. As someone who has been to more than a few mechanic shops, I can honestly say there were multiple opportunities to be overcharged, but here, Mike helped me to stay focused on the most essential repairs and told me which could be put off. I will definitely come back if I have any future issues. Great service, fantastic attitudes, honest professionals, and fair prices!! read more

I had never heard of Brake Check before I bought my Groupon for an oil change, tire balance and tire rotation, but now that I have gone, I am not sure I will ever go back to the dealer. The gentleman I spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable about everything happening to my car and easily answered any of my questions. This put me at ease as I typically feel that car mechanics are notorious swindlers. All the services I received took about 2 hours, which was well under their estimated time. To pass the time though, I strolled around the garage! That's right. I walked right up to my car. Brake check is so honest they'll let you see your car and ask any questions you may have. See you in 5,000 miles. read more

This is the absolutely worst place to receive new brakes and pads. My husband took my vehicle here on a Friday and by Wednesday my brakes locked up on the feeder of 610 and Bellaire. I was 9 months pregnant headed to my prenatal appointment. I was afraid, my car wouldn't move. I backed up traffic, caused a wreck behind me and my husband had to come and manually push my vehicle out of the moving lanes. Wes Saunders was supposed to pay me for lost wages and never did. Please don't trust this place. My advice, pay the extra that the dealer is asking and avoid mistreatment and false claims. read more

Went to get a alignment and the only thing they fixed was the steering wheel. Smfh!! So we brought the car back and so now they telling saying it's the tires!!! News flash we just got the tires yesterday!!! Don't waste your time here is not worth it the people don't know shit!!! read more

Came in to get my brakes fixed, instead ended up spending 250$ on another part to fix something on my tire because one of the technicians made it seem like i would be in adamant danger if i continued to drive without a ball joint replacement. However, my brake pads were changed yet ALL lights are still on, front brakes are squeaking again even though I trusted these guys to fix them for me. Called just now and was told I needed roters, clips, and all these other parts to completely fix the brakes. WTF?!! He sounded like I should've known this but NO ONE let me know that I needed more than just brake pads fixed. Instead they seemed too focused on getting 250$ extra bucks from me for a part I didn't even come in for. I feel scammed. Everyone was so friendly when I came in but I honestly feel that I cannot trust this place, I came in looking to fix my brakes and not even a week later they're already squeaking again. read more

Takes forever. Good price. Good people, but you'll get old. I called in advance for alignment. They said there is only one car having alignment done at the moment. My car would be next. However, that car is on the alignment machine for two hours since I got there. When it was turn for my car to be aligned, the place was almost closed. They still took another customer however while my car was hanging on the lift. When my car was done, it was a total of 3 hours. The people are good, honest and professional. They do not deny their fallback. If you come out here be sure to empty out your schedule for the day. Don't leave your car unattended. Out of sight, out of mind. read more

Be sure to confirm that they will be able to do a complete alignment before waisting your time coming here and paying for an incomplete service. My camber was not adjusted as they claim no one knew how to do the adjustments on my truck. I told then all they had to do was to add or remove shims for camber adjustments. guess they where too busy talking about their personal finances and sports and too lazy to do the work as there was only one other car in the shop. I have always come here for my brake service for past 5 years. I live 1 hour drive from this place but the drive is worthwhile. Took my 2008 Lexus IS350 for service due to squeaking noise. Instead of slapping me with new brake pads Jerry Eskridge (Store Manager) took the time to examine and told me the pads are good. The issue was cheap brake pads installed by other stores and need to smooth out. He did the work himself and got rid of the irritating noise. Walked out the store with a bill less than $100. Really appreciate the professional and honest service. Very hard to find a place to trust these days. Kuddos to Jerry and Brake Check. Julian read more

I brought my car in to have the brake pads, which were wearing thin, replaced. At suggestion of the mechanic on duty, I also opted to have my rotors resurfaced. Upon receiving my car back, it began making a terrible sound when coming to a stop, not present before I brought it in for service. I then paid an additional sum to get the calipers serviced, which did not address the issue. Later, I took my car into the dealership who told me that the rotors were damaged beyond repair and needed to be replaced. All told, I spent nearly $575 for the privilege of this location damaging my vehicle. Save your money and your sanity, go elsewhere. read more

I came here after getting a quote from Meineke on Kirby for a total brake job (4 rotors, 4 brake pads, brake flush) that was going to cost over $1200. After thoroughly inspecting my vehicle, the manager here showed me how I only needed 1 new rotor with my brake pad replacement. The other ones were still able to be machined down. The cost here was $450, saving me around $800! I really liked how the manager took the time to show me the specific worn parts on my vehicle and what needed to be replaced. First visit : new pads and oil change $400. Second visit a year later/10,000 miles : Told I need new pads, rotors, hardware, etc : $800. I have never had pads last only 10,000 miles, mostly being highway miles. They said the rotors and hardware should have been replaced last time. Sounds like a good business-model.
