The customer service is terrible, but the selection is pretty expansive from my experience.

PRO-TIP: They are currently doing their grand opening sale so everything in shop is 15% off except for selected brands (Anna Sui, etc.) AND if you bring your Takashima receipt to the newly opened Decorte shop at the mall, you can get a free gift (it was a shampoo sample for us)! I have a Takashima closer to me, but it's always exciting when a new Asian beauty/JP focused cosmetics etc shop opens up in the area. If you are a fan of the Japanese affordable, "drug store" brand Canmake, this is definitely the place to go if you're not close by to Tokyo Central. The stock for Canmake make up and skincare goods is definitely much more well stocked and diverse than what is in Rowland Heights. I got the "aegyo sal"/shiny tear liner that I've been trying to find for awhile and I also got some nice mascara as well. They also carry other brands such as the widely loved Ishizawa Lab Nadeshiko sheet masks, face wash, etc products and the cute Country & Stream lip care items. I honestly still think that Shibuyala has the wider breadth of variety also by virtue of being the bigger store, but if you can't find it there, Takashima is you're next best bet to hit up. Really wished this spot has a snack section like the RH location, but I understand the space limitations. read more

Amazing one-stop shop for Japanese beauty products! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful to my friend and I - we didn't have much experience with J-Beauty and they were quick to offer knowledge and guidance without being overly salesy. This store is amazing!! At first impression you'd think it's only a makeup store but you'd be surprised when you enter that they have so many other items such as household items, items that can be useful for your car, hair products, etc: which is super convenient. Their prices seem pretty reasonable and they have loadsssss of Japanese and Korean skincare/makeup. I was looking for a few things and the staff was super friendly and did their best to help me find the things that I needed. They even had a promotion and gave me a free full size hand cream for spending a certain amount. Apparently they do this every once in a while as well so that's exciting and I will for sure come back!! I noticed that they have a lot of trendy items that you'd typically see on TikTok too. This is like the mini Asian Sephora but waaaaay prettier because most items and the store decor here is Pink and Pink just happens to my FAVORITE color! ::gasp:: They have aisles and aisles of skincare products (face masks, anyone?) makeup, hair color... yes even the "other types" of face masks / coverings that are super cute for heading outdoors. I am in awe of this place and desperately want to work part-time here just to get employee discounts. Small Japanese version of Sephora but with more skincare products. It's true that not all of their products have translated their ingredients list to English. You can try googling their product name on skincarisma and search up ingredients there. Not a lot of testers available. There's also no refunds even if you didn't open the package so it's a gamble to see if the product really works for you or not. (I might be wrong but that's what I recall) In terms of "clean" products, the DHC deep cleansing oil is a good fit and actually works for not just removing makeup but also sunscreen. There was no markup from the original price listed on DHC's website so that's great. But I couldn't really find any other good skincare products for me where the ingredients were good. read more

I first went to the Takashima I San Gabriel but it was a bit crowded plus they didn't have what I was looking for. So I headed to the one I Arcadia and it was a great experience! The employee was super helpful in helping me find what I needed and was knowledgeable in a product I was eying (Keana Nadeshiko). Things there a little pricey but luckily I got 25% off. It's due to the pandemic and the employee said the 25% promotion will end when the pandemic ends. So if you need anything, now's the time! read more

The attitude of their cashier is terrible. I felt bad every time I shop there. The cashier is impolite and mean that they looks like they don't get paid for their job. I came here for more than five times now & actually wanted to avoid coming into this store as minimal as I can, or even not wanting to unless it's a needed urgency/desperation. I RARELY write reviews unless up to a point it really bothers me. I'm not too sure if they aren't worried about getting their business due to random higher prices markup on the merchandise or because they've the rewards program, they don't care much about watching the store & not to mentioned, the customers. Shiny new Takashima store aka Takashimaya. They have other locations in San Gabriel and Rowland Heights but this store is so much prettier than the other two. It's located in the same plaza as JJ Bakery and Din Tai Fung. There are a lot of items on sale right now since they just opened yesterday so definitely a great time to go check them out. The store is so well stocked and the guy working was very friendly. I was in a hurry to meet a friend but had to stop in to check out the store. This place is super fun. I think this place has prices that are comparable to ebay, but I guess you don't have to pay taxes on ebay, so it is a couple of dollars more. But they have a wide selection of all Japanese beauty products and all the lines from each brand as well. I bought my usually Habo stuff. But I could spend hours here, but I had to go get soup dumpling, but I will definitely be back! I bought something for less than $20, and they took my credit card without a fee. So maybe they changed their policy from what the poster before stated. I thought it was weird that the cashier did not speak to me in English after she saw that my last name was clearly Vietnamese on my credit card. But it was fine, since I understood what she wanted. When I had questions about the products, I had to bring all the items over to the counter and ask her questions, and she was not fully professional on the cosmetic products! It's a really cute Japanese cosmetics store that carries various Japanese and a few Korean branded skincare lines, makeup, stuffed animals, leggings/tights, and everyday small accessories. They essentially carry all imported Asian goodies including car fresheners, instant cameras, face slimmers, face masks, key chains, cute contact solution cases etc. This is where I go to get the majority of my Asian cosmetic necessities aka masks, shampoo/conditioners, nail polish and so on. This store is larger and has more space between the aisles than the San Gabriel store but I think they don't carry as many skus as the sg store. My only complaint about Takashima is as a whole they're expensive and overpriced, especially in comparison to the actual cost of the products in Japan and ordering online. On the bright side though Takashima gives a 10% discount for vip card holders (same as not paying tax for items). The workers are also super helpful and friendly so 4 stars for product assortment, customer service and being a larger (space wise) store. Prices are weird here (sky high on some things that are available elsewhere for much cheaper), and it has a so-so selection, but what it does have is pretty good-- they have a lot of DHC products, and a handful of Korean products. Great make-up selection. Their sunscreen section is a little lacking. Staff were a bit polite, but seemed rather put out when I answered their "do you have any questions?" with a question. They seemed eager to get rid of me, but also watched me a bit, which made me leave pretty quickly afterwards. I'll come back to buy DHC but I definitely prefer the selection at Tokyo Central (and the prices are much more reasonable), as well as the service as Shibuyala. read more

It cost around $25, but it has a light scent.... very different from the "American" brands. They had a bazillion flavors of kitkat candies (like you see in Japan) for a little under $10... (Not that many Korean goods here.) I like the K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo liner (fairly comparable to the Kat Von D Tattoo liner in trooper with brush tip, opacity, and wear time.) I usually ask the SAs on their advice with the array of mascara/eyeliner display. (I get overwhelmed whenever I'm at Marukai/Tokyo Central/Mitsuwa.) I don't really see counterfeit goods, unlike some other Asian Beauty/Cosmetic stores. Be wary that the Store associates will keep a very close eye on you and constantly check up on you, while you're taking a look. They aren't very pushy in promoting products while you purchase.
