From the moment I walked into Emily's studio, I felt completely at peace. There is something about…read moreher presence that is calm, focused, and intentional. I immediately trusted her, and that trust was more than deserved. During our trial, we explored five completely different looks. She approached each one with such precision and artistry. On pageant day, she did not just do my makeup. She transformed me. She knew exactly how to accentuate my features while still allowing me to look like the most elevated version of myself. My eyes have never looked that defined or luminous. The way she understands color and blending is on another level. Every shade melts seamlessly into the next. It is true artistry. She works beautifully under pressure. Pageant mornings are intense and emotional, yet she remained composed and meticulous the entire time. Her hair skills are just as extraordinary as her makeup skills. She can truly bring any vision to life. As an Eastern Asian woman, I especially appreciate how deeply she understands our features. She enhances instead of masking. She brings out your beauty rather than covering it. I did not have to edit a single photo. The makeup looked flawless in real life, on camera, and on stage under harsh lighting. I received compliments all night, even from my very hard to impress Asian family. And honestly, I attribute so much of my confidence and even my victory as Miss Los Angeles Chinatown 2026 to Emily. She did not just glam me. She elevated me. She made me feel powerful. If you are looking for someone who delivers technical excellence, emotional intelligence, and true artistry all at once, Emily is it. I would trust her with any milestone in my life.

Edit: After I made this review, Emily reached out to me and sincerely apologized. It warmed my…read moreheart that she came to me directly and offered to make things up to me in some way. She even offered a refund but I could not in good conscience take it. Emily worked hard and did her very best. She was sweet and my face makeup was everything I wanted. I decided to change the style of my hair after the trial and did not redo the trial. I also believe that she did not have enough experience with my hair type and texture to honor what I wanted. I suppose in retrospect all I can say is she did her best and I respect that. If you are looking to book her and you happen to change your mind about the style after the hair trials, based on my own experience I would recommend to do another before your big day. Overall, she is a great person and an even better artist. Original post: I got married last year October 2025 and I have been thinking about my experience here and I just can't keep my experience to myself anymore. I really really wanted to like this business, I liked the K drama idol glam, the pictures she posted seemed so well done, and when I met her she was sweet. I liked Asian style make up because it was natural and seamless, which is what I wanted. She did an incredible job with my makeup and it really did stay all night! I showed her an inspiration picture and she nailed it. But, what went wrong, was my hair. I should have known when I saw the demographic of her portfolio. This is to say, I am Caucasian and have thin fizzy oily hair. And well, in all honesty I don't think Emily had lot of experience with my kind of hair. I asked for a half up have down style with curls for my trial hair and makeup. She did it and my first thought was that it was messy. I recognized that maybe this was part of the style and went for a different style. In retrospect, I should have done another hair trial as soon as I changed my mind about the style I wanted but I couldn't have afforded it. Anyway, as for my curls I let her know my hair is pretty shapeless and thin, so curls need extra time to set a a light product to hold. I ended up with curls that heavy and caked with product that lasted a grand total of 30 minutes. I went to Emily and told her my experience and she just said that my hair didn't hold a curl very well so she would have to add more product and go slowly with each curl. So I took it upon myself to do 2 things, choose one of the sturdiest curl styles of "glam waves" and find my own product and test it myself to know it worked. Shout out to davines. I had even used the product myself to curl my hair and saw that it lasted a couple days when I did it myself. I was confident, I had seen the portfolio pictures where Emily had done glam waves and she confirmed she could do them. I had had picked and tested a product that I knew worked. Then I even got hair extensions so that the texture of the hair extensions could help to hold my hair exactly in place. Well, it still didn't work out. First, as I was getting my hair done, there was a strong scent of burned hair. It was so strong that my mother in law and sisters in law came in and were actually concerned something was wrong. We went on with the hair appointment and seeing as she had a picture of the glam waves I wanted, and said she could do it and did it before, I sat and waited. I waited for her to be done. When I finally got to see, it was not what I asked for. Again in retrospect this is what hair trials are for and I don't blame Emily, I do believe she did her best but just did not have enough experience with my type of hair. Emily had done generic curls that were heavy and crunchy with product, my hair was heavy and smelled. What was disappointing is that I did not get Hollywood glam waves. The curls were not even in a single direction and It did not look like she combed out the curls and set them as waves. I was extremely disappointed but I was out of time. I had to accept what was done and go off to my wedding! Now when I look at my photos I see my hair and I am upset to think that it did not turn out the way I imagined. I really wish she had been honest about not knowing how to work with my hair so I could find someone else. All in all I loved my makeup but I was unhappy with my hair.

(Review based on 4.5 stars)…read more Located across from The Peach Cafe with it's own parking lot. It is the yellow looking house in case you are on the look for it on Colorado. I came by this past Friday a little before 11 am for my hair appointment. When I came in, I was not initially greeted or acknowledged. The lady whom was talking and working on her client's hair saw me but turned away. She kept looking at me but never said anything (deducted 0.5 star for that). But another woman in the front greeted me and offered me something to drink. Since I came early for my 11 am appointment, I just sat at a chair in the front and waited for Isabel. When she arrived (before my appointment time), she greeted me and took me to the back where her chair was. She then told me that I could put my purse down and lead me to the sink to wash my hair. It was rather relaxing as my hair was being washed. She asked if the temperature of the water was okay with me and continued. Then when she was done, she walked me back to her chair. She asked me what I would like for my hair cut. I told her that I wanted to cut my hair for charity (Beautiful Lengths, http://pantene.com/en-us/experience-main-section2/beautiful-lengths for more information) and that the organization I donate it to (I do this every year) request that the hair is dry and tied in a pony tail, banded with a hair tie from the top and bottom to secure it. Isabel made sure that my hair was fully dry before she tied it up and cut it. She explained that with a cut from the pony tail, it would leave my hair uneven. She made sure that my hair was even all around after cutting it. Last September when I got my hair cut (at another salon), the person who cut my hair did not take the same care as Isabel and so my hair was a little uneven (did not find this out until I came home). Isabel asked me what is the minimum length that the organization I am donating to requires. I told her 8 inches and so she measured my hair before cutting to let me know how short it will be and afterwards, measured it again to show me that it is exactly at 8 inches. During my time, Isabel was a delight to talk to while she styled my hair. She was friendly and I enjoyed learning about her family and sharing about mine. I truly appreciate the time and detail that Isabel paid to my hair during this visit that I tipped her rather higher than most hair salons that I have gone to in the past. I will definitely go back to Isabel in the future for my next hair cut (which will most likely for charity again).
