Great ramen for the price! I ordered the $10 tonkatsu ramen with chicken and substituted thicker ramen noodles for $2. It came with seaweed, kikurage mushroom, and green onion. The portion was great for the price, and I liked that their broth wasn't overly salty. They also have a $3 happy hour beer special that's really great! Kakashi Ramen was an evening to remember. I joined Amy C for the Yelp Elite event. Although I wasn't on the guest list I decided to go and check it out. Right away we were greeted by a young server eager to help take our order. He explained our options as well as guide us through the ordering process. The decor had a certain flair about it. Spencer was helpful with running us through the ramen options! He was very kind and patient as I looked for a ramen bowl that fit my diet. I went with the Tan-tan ramen bowl that was their vegan option. I asked for no nuts and Spencer confirmed I didn't have a nut allergy. Which I appreciate, as other places aren't as careful with peanut allergies. They have seating mostly inside with a few seats outside. I attended the Yelp event yesterday and enjoyed the ramen so returned and got it again today for $10. I was disappointed to find less pork in the soup. This time I got two pieces. Yesterday, there were four pieces. Not enough protein today. The interior of the restaurant continues to smell very strongly of disinfectant cleaning spray. I brought my ramen outside. When I used some napkins, I found that they had gotten that disinfectant spray on them. They smelled very strong and obviously got spray on them when the employees were spraying down interior tables. I really hope that something changes regarding how they are cleaning. I started to worry the spray may be getting on the food they serve too. read more

I went here with my mother in law after some shopping. My mother in law ordered a ramen while I ordered a pork katsu bowl and wontons. My mother in law really liked her ramen bowl. She said the broth was delicious and the noodles were cooked well too. The rice was cooked well in my bowl but I wish the pork katsu was just a bit crispier. We both liked the wontons but I wish the wrappers held up more because some broke apart while picking them up. Service was just okay. The interior is festive with lots of daruma lanterns, traditional decor, and spacious booths. Having lived near Tokyo for several years, I can attest to the quality of my ramen. The thin white noodles are of those in the Fukuoka region which is located on the southern island of Kyushu. The young lady who took my order was friendly and very helpful. The wait time was reasonable and it felt like I was sitting in a modern version of a Ramen shop in Japan. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean (including the restroom). I noticed that this ramen spot hasn't been open for very long, and it already has a 3.5 rating. After reading moultiple positive and negative reviews, I decided to check it out for myself. I ordered the Kara-Miso Ramen, and it was great. It had the perfect amount of heat and flavor. The pork chashu was delicious, with really good flavor, and they gave me three thick, tender slices. It is a bit pricey, but honestly, all of Santa Barbara is pricey. If the flavor and presentation are excellent, I don't mind spending a little extra. My whole experience relied on the flavor of the food, and it did not disappoint. It seems like they are still working out some kinks as a new business. It wasn't too busy when I went and I got my order in a pretty timely manner. The worker refilled my water pretty often. I got the 24-hour tonkotsu since they really highlighted it. I sometimes get appetizers like karaage, but didn't this time because it was also pricier than I was expecting. The ramen was decent. Not really anything to write home about. Not bad, but I've had better for less. The pork chasu wasn't my favorite, mostly the texture. I'd give it more like a 3.5, but yeah, I'm not familiar with the food scene out here. Ramen is priced way higher than other better local options, the restaurant itself is not particularly comfortable especially for how much you are paying, the broth flavor does not have good balance, the kiosk and service pipeline is awkward, and the food just doesn't taste fresh. It's just not a great dining experience. And again, you are paying at LEAST $4-5 more than any other place. They have better chairs now and the noodles weren't undercooked though so that's better. I do appreciate that they serve a Hakata style ramen. But I would recommend Nikka, SB Craft Ramen, or even Sachi over this place. You just don't get enough of a good experience for the steep prices. read more

When I got the bowl, they had put a regular amount of ikura as seen in the menu photo, so I asked for the extra I paid for, and they didn't give me the extra side of ikura until 15 min later. I heard the waitress and kitchen staff talking about my request in the kitchen since my table was next to the kitchen, and I heard the kitchen staff say that they already gave me extra. The waitress that was working (6/9 at 12pm) asked the kitchen for my extra ikura and I could hear the kitchen staff fighting the request. If I go to Nikka Ramen, their poke rice bowls are $16 for a large bowl and they put a good amount of fish on top. Takashi charged me $26 for an unreasonable bowl. The salmon was also dry. The ambiance is nice but the prices aren't worth it here. read more

Spend over $100 on 2 beef ramen with toppings, shaking cheese fries, takayaki balls, beef with rice bowl and large Asahi. The beef ramen broth is NOT worth it. Bland, didn't taste any beef or any flavor in the broth. No collagen or fat in the broth- was clear. Wife ordered the spicy paste and made the broth taste better. We spent $40 on both our ramen. I normally get extra noodles at other ramen places...i couldn't even get to my second noodles,.. I told my wife I'd rather have it with her soup she made at home. The beef with rice bowl had a few pieces of beef belly and bowl of rice. There was more rice than beef. The shaking cheese fries were the McDonald's size fries with cheese powder. Nice snack but not worth $10. The takoyaki had big balls with one and sometimes 2 octopus pieces and lots of bonito flakes. It tasted good, but wish the ratio was better. The Asahi was the best tasting item of the meal. For a order at the kiosk and wait for your food .. there are better choices. I only liked the Kara miso ramen because the miso and flavor oil added another layer of flavor. Both the tonkotsu and the shoyu broths were one dimensional. The food and ambiance is amazing! You have two kiosks that you can order from or you could order at the counter too. I ordered the old school Tonkatsu ramen and added thicker noodles to it and less salt. It came out perfect! My husband had the Kuro Mayu which is the black garlic oil ramen and he enjoyed it! That one came with thicker noodles. I'm not a fan of the karage, it probably needs a little more seasonings or something for the marinade, but the ramen is really good here!
