I went here last night with my husband for a little night out. We are big sushi fans so had high hopes. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and sat at a table for two by the window. For the majority of the evening we were seated next to a high school couple who could clearly hear our conversation and unfortunately we could clearly hear theirs. That kind of lost a star for me. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. I ordered a peach pomatini that was delicious. My husband got a couple of beers so nothing special. Nothing on draft. We wanted to try a variety of things so we ordered tuna poppers for an appetizer, the OMG special roll, the American Dream roll, and a Boston roll. We also ordered a bowl of spicy pork bibimbap to share. The tuna poppers were good although nothing amazing. They were improved with some siracha. The best roll was the American Dream. That had the most taste. The OMG roll was disappointing and didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping. The best was the bibimbap. It was served piping hot and the pork had a little kick to it. I was glad we shared it because it was huge. I'm only giving it three stars because I don't know if I would drive two towns away again for the sushi. Plus our bill came out to $98 including tip. It seemed a little pricey, but then again it's Medfield. read more

a gem in medfield! clean contemporary atmosphere and very fresh, nicely presented entrees and sushi. their dumpling soup is good -- dumplings are good, and the broth is also very nice, and it's a good-sized portion. huge menu spanning korean and japanese options. entree portions seem to hug the smaller side for an asian restaurant -- aka one entree is only for one person, but this is more typical in suburban settings versus, for example, chinatown. happy! i'll be back! read more

Very good sushi here. Never been disappointed. They have a huge selection and the prices are fair. I love how they combine all the rolls and special items we order onto one big boat, the presentation is lovely and also does not crowd the table with a bunch of plates. Came here twice and food was consistently good. However, it takes a very long time to get the food. Way over average wait times on weekdays and weekends. And they tend to forget small things you ask for...After first dinner here we still thought food was worth coming back for. Until we saw a big cockroach on the wall right near our booth. I called a server over and she tried to catch it, but it fell somewhere in the vicinity of our table. So we changed tables, finished our food and got out ASAP. Never coming back. read more

I've visited Takara in Medfield twice. The first time was amazing! I ordered a few rolls, some sushi and sashimi and soup and it was excellent, service the first time was attentive. The second time had quite the opposite experience. we waited 30 minutes just to get our miso soup. Everything was slow. We were not asked for a second glass of wine. We ordered two rolls, one was a spicy tuna with the extra spicy tuna on top. The spicy tuna on top was a dark brown color, very fatty and didnt have that nice texture - something was off, and we were really turned off. They did take it off our bill, which was considerate. I think it made us take a sushi hiaitus! Hope we can give it another try. read more

Fabulous sushi...a lovely surprise in Medfield! I've traveled a great deal and ordered cautiously as I hadn't been here before...yet everything was lovely. I gave the full 5 stars here as I wouldn't expect a great deal more unless I knew Nobu Matsuhisa had moved to the area :-) I wouldn't consider it posh or decorated crazy authentic, but food is the priority for me and I'm just really happy with what I experienced. read more

The food is good. The service is terrible. Tonight I had to ask 4 times for a napkin. 3 times for a water. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and were told they ran out of glasses so waited over 30 minutes for our wine. The restaurant was not that busy and none of our requests should have been an issue. First timers. Hostess was very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Dining room was very clean. I had the Naruto and can't remember the other sushi roll, there were so many to choose from, but both were delicious. The Yaki rice was so good we got one to go. We also got Beef Don and Spicy Chicken Bulgogi. Everthing was tasty, however I would like to try the cold Bulgogi next time. Our waitress was extra attentive. We had a nice experience here. We were already talking about our next date here. Then at the end of our meal a cockroach ran by on the bar right by. E raw fish. We told the staff. They were right there and saw it as well. All they offered was us to switch seats. We ran out of there as fast as we could after still paying our full bill. The hot and sour soup is excellent , the avacodo salad is fresh and well presented, the seafood udon noodle soup is excellent, the bento boxes are a good assortment and good value for lunch ! I go to Takara with my family as much as we possibly can afford. The staff is very friendly and professional, and the food is so delicious. The food is clearly made with only the freshest ingredients. We feel full and satisfied when we leave, but do not feel as if we had an unhealthy meal. read more

Good Japanese/Korean place in Medfield. The sushi is pretty pricey and isn't anything too special, but still tasty. I normally get the Okdal Bibimbap which is a Korean dish and it is quite delicious! Sometimes the fried egg is a little overcooked (I like the yoke runny so it coats the veggies and cooks in the stone bowl). The bento boxes for lunch are good too, except when the "Chef's Special" item is French fries...If I'm going to an Asian restaurant I don't need French fries. The prices continue to rise and soon enough I won't be able to afford to eat here unfortunately. Really nice bar though! read more
