Every time I come in for acupuncture with Dr. Shen, the process is smooth from start to finish. The insurance and billing process is also very easy. The front desk handles everything for me, and I only have to pay my copay, which makes each visit stress-free. I have been seeing Dr. Shen for the past couple of months and have completed about 11 treatments so far. She has helped me with several health concerns, especially my back pain, which has improved a lot since starting treatment. What surprised me most is how much she has also helped with my allergies. I can breathe so much easier now. Dr. Shen is very busy at the Pleasanton location, so sometimes I drive to the Fremont office to see her. Even though it is farther, it is absolutely worth it because she is amazing. The front desk is awesome about calling me when there are cancellations with her. My wife has also been seeing Dr. Shen for pregnancy and fertility support. We had been trying to have a baby for almost two years and had traveled countless times to Europe for IVF. After my wife saw Dr. Shen for about five treatments, she became pregnant. Dr. Shen has also helped her with migraines, which has been such a blessing for our family. What makes Dr. Shen special is that she truly takes the time to listen to her patients. She customizes every treatment and treatment plan based on our individual needs. I originally came to Eastern Medical Center for back pain, but Dr. Shen treats the body as a whole, and I really appreciate that holistic approach. I am so glad we found Eastern Medical Center and highly recommend Dr. Shen for acupuncture

However, I was very disappointed with my experience here, especially as someone who also works in pain relief and values Eastern medicine. * $155 for about 5 minutes with the doctor * No real shoulder exam, muscle testing, orthopedic tests, or nerve assessment * Pressed on a few tight spots I showed him in my shoulder and immediately decided on cupping + acupuncture without identifying the actual issue * 15 minutes of cupping, 20 minutes of acupuncture, and I left feeling exactly the same This felt less like individualized care and more like a "same treatment for everyone" approach. Eastern medicine can be incredibly effective when done properly, but this experience felt rushed, impersonal, and money-driven. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this level of care was unacceptable. I'm sorry to say this is an insult to eastern medicine. I've had eastern medicine and they never treated me without even identifying my problem.

I went to Dr. Sun when my knee was swollen, red, radiating heat and full of pain I saw an orthopedic specialist earlier in the year for the same problem but didn't have a great experience, so I had to wait for an appointment with another ortho surgeon. I went to Dr. Sun hoping for some pain relief in the meanwhile. Very glad I did so. Dr. Sun was able to identify the tissue tears in my knee, a condition later confirmed by MRI at the ortho. Dr. Sun provided immediate relief with acupuncture, and I was able to recover enough to walk in days, and improved enough to drive in under 3 weeks. Definitely consider acupuncture, or at least get evaluated by Dr. Sun, before opting for more invasive procedures. How lucky are we?! Gan A Yi is an incredible caretaker and nanny. From the moment she walked into…read moreour home, she brought so much warmth, a strong work ethic, and a get-it-done attitude that's honestly rare. We had her for 45 days and wish we could have kept her longer! She made my transition into motherhood so much easier. Overnights: She took the overnight wake-ups and diaper changes, brought our daughter to me for feedings, and rocked her back to sleep. Without her, my health and my sleep would be in a very different place. Daytime: Gan A Yi goes above and beyond so my husband and I can be as hands-off as possible. She changes diapers before we even notice, carries the baby for 30-45 minutes until she's in a deep sleep, and often stays well past her break to make sure the baby is calm and settled. She happily watched the baby while we went out and wouldn't take extra time off, even when we offered several times. It's so hard to find someone with that level of flexibility, work ethic, and genuine care. Adaptable: She's great at everything she does. We showed her how to use the many appliances in our house, told her our kitchen preferences, and updated her as the feeding schedule changed. For example, she helped our baby slowly increase her milk intake, stretch out overnight feeds, and even adjust to sleeping on a different side of her head. She only ever needed to hear something once, and we never had to bring it up again. Her adaptability and attention to detail are rare and so admirable. Food: Her cooking is amazing! Every meal was different, and she turned leftovers into something completely new. Her knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and Cantonese postpartum recovery was a big reason we wanted a confinement nanny, and she delivered. Baby: Our 6-week-old now smiles at Gan A Yi more than at almost anyone else, which says it all. From the way she talks to and plays with her every day, I can tell she truly cares about her. She encourages her to talk, play, and move, and is always making sure she's warm, clean, comfortable, and fed. That's exactly what any parent could hope for. We also learned SO much from her: how to bathe the baby, change her diaper and clothes, hold her, feed her, and more. If you want an expert you can trust and enjoy living with, Gan A Yi is it. We'd book her again in a heartbeat. We can't say enough good things about her, and we'll miss her so much!

My dr prescribed the typical pain relaxers and physical therapy which didn't work. I really didn't know what to do next. So I did the normal thing try everything else out to see if works. Luckily, I started first with Accupuncture and scheduled an appointment with Rebecca. She figured out what was going on and could relate to what I was going through.
