Two entree combo with curry chicken and shrimp
    Marco Y.

Been wanting to try this place out for a while. I decided to try their "fast food" combo with curry chicken and shrimp. The flavors were pretty good. Curry was pretty mild but tasted good. The chicken pieces had quite a bit of tendon though. The shrimp was a bit disappointing, they gave me only 2 pieces. I'll probably still come back to try some of the other dishes.

Okay this hidden spot should be blowing up with the price point being so reasonable and the portion size. We're talking early 2000's pricing where I paid $10 for this box combo. Heck, it's fresher and bigger than most to go chinese restaurants. The honey walnut prawns had a good flavor, so did the chow fun and green beans and broccoli beef. I would skip the fatty beef stew next time. Highly recommend this if you're low on cash, want more food for your buck, or are in this area. They were out of their free soy milk the two times I've been here so far.

The specialty **Hot Claypot** is worth the 20-minute wait--delicious and flavorful. The **takeout portions** are very generous, easily enough for two people. The restaurant is **spacious and clean**, providing a comfortable dining environment. A great spot for tasty, hearty meals with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

排骨腊味煲仔饭 Chinese Sausage & Pork Ribs Claypot Rice ($13.80)

What's your fav one pot meal? Mine is Bo Zai Fan aka Chinese Claypot Rice. A heaping bed of rice with a crispy golden brown bottom, topped with your choice of meat, and some greens. While cooking, the flavor/juices from the meat infuses into the rice and with the sweet soy for drizzling, it's *chef's kiss*. No way I could do this at home without burning myself and the house down so Taishan Cuisine is a welcome addition to Ingleside. Opening in late January 2025, this is Taishan Cuisine's third location in the city. Currently open for takeout and indoor dining with delivery (3rd party apps) to come. I usually eat early so I was surprised to see Taishan Cuisine SO busy on a Sunday night a little before 8 pm. We were promptly seated tho. M E N U Taishan/Toisan Cuisine with Chinese-American dishes, jook, noodle rolls, and dim sum available. They have $8.99 Daily Specials written in Chinese, you can inquire with staff (speaks English). Until 5 pm, they have a "fast food" counter where you choose 2 items w/ rice or noodles ($8.80) or 3 items w/ rice or noodles ($10.80). Great deal for college students on the go. In general, Taishan Cuisine is known for their clay pot rice (specifically yellow eel), braised goose, stir-fried cauliflower w/ preserved meats, and nourishing bone broth soups. Free hot tea. No alkie but saw a table bring their own wine. F O O D * 排骨腊味煲仔饭 Chinese Sausage & Pork Ribs Clay Pot Rice ($13.80): https://tinyurl.com/ye2xc56d - Takes approx. 20 minutes to prepare Great value for the amount of tender spare ribs and savory sweet chinese sausage you receive. They need to work on the temp and evenly scorching the claypot tho. Even after leaving the rice to continue sizzling in the claypot, there was barely any crispy rice. If they nail this, it would be perfection esp with their side of sweet soy. * 台山烧鸡 Taishan Roast Chicken (Half-$18): https://tinyurl.com/4447ewsb They don't have braised goose at this location so we went with another one of their signature dishes, the Taishan Roast Chicken. Not what we expected, this was HK Canto style braised soy sauce chicken, not roasted with a crispy skin (as it should be). Served cold, it was fine but wouldn't order again with Ming Kee nearby. * 姜葱炒猪舌 Stir Fried Pork Tongue w/ ginger, scallions ($18): https://tinyurl.com/42awez6e Under chef's specialties, this was out fav dish. S E R V I C E Service was unexpectedly solid on the night we visited. Despite being busy, the staff was very kind, warm, and there when we needed something. Food service was prompt. A M B I A N C E A dozen tables in a bright and colorful dining area with a Chinese landscape and waterfall mural. P A R K I N G Street parking can be challenging but not as difficult as their Chinatown locations on Broadway and Jackson. Overall, I'm happy to have an option for claypot rice without having to trek to Chinatown, Inner Richmond, or Outer Sunset. Def stick with their Taishan and chef's specialties. Skip their dim sum!

Eel clay pot rice, vegetable stir fry
    Chris W.

Excited this new spot opened recently, extending from their original location in Chinatown. Place inside is larger than expected, plenty of tables. Went around 5:45pm on a Sunday and the place was fairly empty aside from another couple dining in. Very friendly service. We ordered: - Eel clay pot rice (4.5/5): Been wanted to try it here and it did not disappoint, fresh tasting pieces, generous portion, rice had the nice crunch at the bottom. Only caveat is some of the eel pieces had slight bone pieces so be careful feeding to kids. Slightly on saltier side. - Vegetable stir fry with string beans, broccoli, mushroom, carrots (4/5): Large portion but on the oilier side - Roasted chicken whole (4/5): They didn't have half portion option today so we went with the whole bird, and whole bird we got including the head and butt. Some pieces, including wings, were too dry and inedible, but the middle pieces were tasty and moist. On the saltier side so we drank a lot of water and tea. Overall it took a while to get our food but when it came they were piping hot. The dishes were saltier and oilier than what we prefer, but good to try. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes - they also offer banquet meals. Parking is a bit difficult to find, need to circle around for street parking.

    Vegan eggplant $19
    Magda G.

Was in the area and were looking for some vegan options, the staff is super sweet, friendly and accommodated us with two vegan dishes - eggplant in a claypot and mushrooms w green beans and broccoli. The mushroom dish was good but not too flavorful but the eggplant was just a mush that had not much flavor and it was swimming in oil. The dish was not inedible in my option, my friend ate some of it but I did not, I told the girl that assisted us and she told us to make sure we tell them next time to cook with less oil but I do not think I have not mention for my dish to not be doused in oil. It was very oily and I had to have lots of tea, the tea is complimentary so that was nice. Also, I dishes were $19 each and I thought that was too expensive for eggplant, mushrooms, green beans and broccoli. CC accepted

Eel Clay Pot + Chinese Sausage and Pork Ribs Claypot

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Was very excited to hear that Taishan Cuisine opened a new location in Oceanview. Very happy for them and hope they have more business. They're still new so perhaps this was a unique isolated experience for us, and that there's room to improve: [Food] Dishes came out fast, hot, and good portions for price. They have all of my Toisan dad's fav dishes. Vegetables: 1x Garlic Romane Lettuce (nice garlic flavor, but it was a bit oily) 1x Chinese Cauliflower with Pork Stomach (pork stomach was a bit salty and the cauliflower was a quite oily) Entrees: 1x Braised Beef Brisket (tasty and tender) 1x Roasted Chicken (a bit saltier than we'd prefer. And although deboned for easy consumption, the presentation looked messy) 1x Walnut Prawns (not crispy or saucy, skip it) Claypots: Comes with a small bowl of sweet soysauce to add on 1x Chinese Sausage Claypot (good flavors but the crispy rice was a bit too hard. During dinner, my sister's tooth crown surprisingly popped off) 1x Chinese Sausage Meat with pork ribs 1 x Eel Claypot Crispy Rice (also good flavors and rice was softer because this was a bit saucier) [Service] Their staff speaks multiple languages/dialects including: Cantonese, Mandarin, English and Toisan, which was great! We had a very enthusiastic waiter who was attentive and had good intentions, but it was coming off a bit pushy at times. They accidentally entered our order in wrong with incorrect dishes, but quickly corrected after we flagged it. Staff cleared empty dishes promptly and offered to refresh our plates. It was a slow Sunday with 3 separate groups (including us). Nice people overall. The 2 specials they recommended wasn't that great: the choy was oily and the Taishan roasted chicken was saltier than anticipated. [Ambiance] Open space with tables good for small and large groups. They leave their front door open, but that meant it was super chilly when we went for dinner while it rained outside. Metered and residential parking but limited. FYIs: 1. They don't serve alcohol. 2. They take cash and card. 3. Great $8 deals on dishes if you spend $150 or more for your table. 4. They don't automatically add a service fee for large groups. 5. Reasonable price point for their location and good portion size. 6. Location is very muni friendly

The amount of rice after you take out the meat.
    Gerry P.

Good: service was good. Atmosphere was fine. Their clay pot isn't too oily. They have promotions and fast food eats for cheaper prices. Bad: the meat/veggies and rice portions are very off. There is way too much rice (see pic) and too little meat/veggies. It lacks a bit of flavor but they do give you soy sauce on the side to adjust.

    Ruby A.

Service was nice but the food, ermmm not good... I did the fast plate instead of dining in and eating. I'm sure the food is so much better compared to the fast food option. I got sweet and sour and the walnut shrimp. As you can see I only got 3 shrimp . It was like 5/10, the sauce tasted more like mayo. Sweet and sour chicken was really good I gotta say like 7.5/10! Everything else tho not good... noodles & rice was super bland. It made me so sad because they seemed like nice people. Got the shrimp rice noodles and it was pretty neat. I've never had it before and i'm sure there might be better. I paid $9 for the plate and $6 for the shrimp rice noodles. 5/10 ;/

Jojo's down the street was closed so I found this place. Actually a pretty typical chinese place. Lower cost and good food but a little grungy. Working class chinese folks eat here. I had the brisket on flat rice noodles 牛腩河 , a pretty standard thing & it was as expected. I was surprised if was normal.

The restaurant is clean and welcoming. The service is efficient and friendly. We love the Claypot rice dishes. The chicken and spareribs are seasoned and cooked perfectly. When we added the soy sauce to rice, it still sizzled. We love eating the crunchy perfectly brown rice at the bottom of the claypot. After we finished the rice, we added tea to the pot to get all the crispy rice out of the pot. Since they have a new dish of roast duck, they even gave samples to us. It was delicious too. We are so happy to have tried this restaurant because we now have a new additional to our regular dinning out rotation.

Their 2/3 item to-go boxes end at 5pm. I was eating next door at the ramen restaurant and noticed a new restaurant opened. They are a familiar chain, Taishan Cuisine! The food at their Broadway location is awesome. This location was empty at 8:15pm on a Wednesday. I got their wonton noodles $9.50 to go as a way of welcoming them to the neighborhood. Service was fast and my food came out within 10 mins.

I usually don't write these type of negative reviews(especially for "local" chinese/asian owned businesses) but this was beyond disrespectful. Was greatly disappointed by not only the customer service but also by the respect the employees and business owner had towards their customers. Disclaimer, our whole party spoke fluent Cantonese and Mandarin, there was no language barrier. The TL:DR, we had to wait 1 hour for our dishes to arrive, just for the employees to not even apologize once, and instead, business owners and employees were laughing to themselves while us and another table had to wait to get our food due to the negligence of the employees. Not to mention, the employees even gave us reheated food that was given and eaten from another table. Came by on a weekday night, ordered, and were told that claypot rice dishes usually take 20 minutes, and we knew that was the normal time. About 30 minutes pass by, a claypot rice dish arrives at another table that was late. That table digs into the food and realizes it was the wrong order, it was originally supposed to be for my table. The employees come to reconfirm orders for both tables, mind you, THERE ARE ONLY TWO TABLES IN THE RESTAURANT. After reconfirming orders, we asked if we could change dishes, and they wouldn't let us. They said that the food was "almost ready". The claypot rice came out lukewarm and wasn't even sizzling hot after waiting "45 minutes" but the time difference between the food coming incorrectly for the other table and it reaching our table was only 10 minutes. About 1 full hour passes and our second claypot rice comes out, correct this time, and it is sizzling hot. That's how we realized, they just reused and then reheated the rice that the previous table dug and ate out of and gave it to us. We even confronted them and they kept saying that it was a new dish, but how did a "new" dish finish in 10 minutes, after it was made incorrectly when it usually takes 20. Luckily the food tastes ALRIGHT, it's not as good as the Chinatown one, and the service is horrendous. No respect, no communication, only selfish business owners and employees who kept to themselves the whole time. The ONLY OTHER table had 4 missing items, and 2 incorrect orders. And my table had to wait an hour for our food to come out. Two tables, and they were able to disrespect ours and the only other customers in the building. Would not recommend coming, in the chance that an employee makes a mistake and then you get disrespected. Maybe I came in at a bad time, but the lack of communication, respect, and not even apologizing once is insane. No language barrier, no culture shock, this was pure disrespect by the business.

I actually didn't mind it at all because there was still enough space between everyone to have privacy. It also made the experience feel more social -- I ended up chatting with the people to my right and left about the food. Everything we ordered was really good. Their popular dry fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and was probably my favorite thing on the menu... besides the cherry pork. I feel like nobody talks about the cherry pork enough! It was SO good -- kind of like a sweet-and-sour pork without the sour. I dipped it in soy sauce because I loved the sweet and salty combo together. The dumplings were also really good. The wrapper was thin and delicious, but my boyfriend said he wished they had a little more protein filling and less leek. The green beans are always a hit. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the black bean sauce noodles. Maybe I just expected a different flavor, but to me they honestly tasted like regular lo mein. I'm also not a huge noodle person in general, so I'd probably skip them next time and order something else instead. Forgot to mention their prices are on point! Definitely recommend to any of the tourists. I think the weight is definitely worth it and I love being able to take home my leftovers and eating them for lunch and dinner the next day.

Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. The Kid ordered the Milk Aroma Oolong, which surprisingly tasted almost like milk tea even though it's just brewed tea. Each tea comes with its own kettle, and Ken even came back to refill the hot water for us. For food, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice, which was a huge portion and easily shareable. Very flavorful and well prepared. We also tried the Sichuan Seafood Dumplings and the Iberico Pork Dumplings, both of which were delicious. One order is definitely enough to share. The dumplings come with several dipping sauces including soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, hot mustard, and a cilantro-based sauce that had a slightly sweet, horseradish-like flavor that really stood out. Service throughout the meal was amazing. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. There will be a little bit of a wait if you come at lunchtime, but the changing of tables is so quick, it's worth the wait. My table got many items to try out, including a number of dumplings and main dishes. We have no complaints! The servers were on top of their game, and every time a menu item was brought out, they would cross it out at the table, to ensure all our food was brought out. Each dish came out piping hot (especially the dumpling and wontons), and my favorite main dish was definitely the Braised Seafood + Tofu in Clay Pot. Pair that with some rice and your set. This place was such a vibe! Totally recommend; all our food came out quick --- everything was made-to-order, and they got nothing wrong. 10 out of 10!

Memorial weekend Saturday - got walking in that day, I asked the person who sat us if any of the…read morenoodle dishes had soy (they all have soy), she asked if I was gluten-free and I said no, allergy to soy so I will get something else. This person who took our order asked if there were any allergies, I said soy and her eyes lit up while she calming asked, 'soy-sauce', and I list soysauce and all the soy things that fall in that umbrella. I order my item, the chicken wings and item to share: the pan-fried dumplings, while my partner ordered one of the noodle soups. She comes back later and points out that the noodle soup has soy - much apperciated because people sometimes share, etc. And I said it was just for my partner. -- The chicken wings were plump, crispy, the first two were 'heathly', didn't taste the salt, and the rest were packed with flavor. If you're looking for consistency there is a #1 spot in Chinatown for chicken wings which I will not disclose in this review. But, otherwise, for flavor - I like it here. My partner said he didn't find the ones here oily but I said the bottom ones were a little and I did enjoy it. The panfried dumplings - the meat was succulent and delicious, I didn't think there was enough soup, these ones are smaller than other places, but the meat is massive. They were good, not my favorite ever, but I think the meat was the best hands-down anywhere. - It was very busy with perhaps locals and tourists. The table on our left were these two white men in the architeture field - super vulgar and sexist talking about people they don't like, it would defintely be an HR red flag. And then to the corner on the right, there was this little family who hadn't had soup dumplings before - the grown kids ate with their hands and the parents with forks (I love to see people trying new things), I didn't see all of this going on but I asked my partner who kept looking over.. Yes, my partner was judging you but kudos to trying new things however it is. - For large parties - you'll have to wait awhile. QR waitlist kiosk thing in at the front. ** I truly apperciate food safety and staff being attentive which makes patrons more confident and are able to make more safely informed decisions when ordering.

Everything else. Food should be better prepared. Thought they have a Michelin star and food is so sloppy for the price they charge and the service always felt robotic. We had whole duck and the soup $80 and the duck came with bones! Wow. Z&y Beijing duck for similar price is way better. The soup came out also more watery also with bones and mustard green. It was just okay but unimpressive The braised tofu and vegetable for $28 is again just average. I was going to give this a three star but then a 20% gratuity is auto added for our table for 2 people. Plus the final check still comes with room for tip. So if someone didn't hear that gratuity was included already they can accidentally overtip. Shady business practice. Alas a lipstick on a pig and I have tried this place at least 5 times over the last 5 years. I keep thinking they may improve. I am wrong and won't be back. It's a place for show but doesn't really have refined Chinese food.
