My friend and I did the meow paint night recently so this review is mainly about that. The location is a bit easy to miss on a busier street but we found parking on a cross street. We arrived at 6pm when the event was supposed to start and person out front said they were still setting up and would be starting soon. They let us in the main area where the cats were a few minutes later but apparently they meant they were BARELY starting to set up. We had to awkwardly maneuver and wait around while they were getting tables and chairs set up and then we didn't get started til 645 which is pretty bad when your event is advertised as starting at 6. It was nice to walk around to see and pet the cats but that was not the primary point of the visit. What made this a pretty poor experience was the instructor and lack of organization. I've been to other paint events and you usually know what the inspo is ahead of time and the paint palette is provided with all the colors and right amounts you would need. They passed around the inspo pic and we had to wait while it was going around the room to take a picture and then we had to go up front to pick our own colors. The brushes were so overused and limp, floppy, and just in bad shape. The instructor said maybe 3 sentences to say she was going to outline the cat but there was no guidance whatsoever around how to shade, how to outline, how to do anything. It was not beginner friendly whatsoever and I think most of us were literally just winging it. The instructor also did not walk around the room or offer any assistance, feedback or help. I could tell some others were over painting and just got up to play with the cats. The concept is great but execution kind of failed. I'm sure they're not a trained paint instructor and maybe an employer or volunteer who likes to paint but that doesn't make for a good experience. We expected to have direction and instruction to paint. So essentially we paid $40 to be around cats and maybe $5-$10 worth of materials. Definitely would not recommend this event. read more

Sometimes the people here can come across as a bit much, or a little aggressive in how they approach or tell you things. Overall though, this is one of my favorite cat cafes in SoCal. It's only $20 to get in, which is a lot more reasonable than some other places in the area that charge $60 for just 30 minutes to an hour. With that being said, it's nothing fancy inside. The space is pretty basic, but they do have a good amount of cats. Just keep in mind that if you stop by later in the afternoon, some of them might be tired from socializing all day. They also offer a $100 monthly membership if you want to come in as often as you'd like. They don't really have a café setup like some other cat cafes do, which is fine, but something to keep in mind if that's what you're looking for. One thing I do like is that they host a lot of cat adoption events.. so that's nice. Worth a visit for sure. read more

We had a nice, mellow time here through the one hour cat pass. It was a spacious area with plenty of different spots to hang out with a host of cats in the midst of their day to day routines. The energetic and fearless greeters that are ready to play, the careful observers, and the stalwart nap-time pack. The adoption photos and details are nice and clear on the wall, so you can place a face and learn more about them if you have a connection. We also had the opportunity to visit another day for their MEOWjong (Mahjong) event where they partner with a wonderful group of teachers to show newcomers how to get started with the game. This is especially recommended as it gives cats a new way to show off their social skills. Whether they're interested in what all that noise is about or want to "subtly" be a part of the group by sitting directly of the middle of the table so four people can watch them take a good rest. A super endearing way to spend some time and see them in another light. We have adoption on our family's mind, but aren't actively looking quite yet. So we don't have any experience with the process there. read more

Tail Town is a wonderful place for people who can't have cats, but want to pet a couple. This cat lounge is well kept and loved by humans running this place. I've been twice so far, and you can tell they put in a lot of care for the kitties. Regulars were personable and very friendly to talk to. Great experience and great cause. $20/hr/person. You can play with the cats and pet them. You can't pick them up but you can adopt them! Been wanting to come here for a while and finally made it part of my and my husband's anniversary plans. I've been to two or three other similar places and this one is definitely the best. When we arrived, many of the cats were taking naps, but they gradually woke up and started looking for food, cuddles, and playtime. All 40 (!) of the cats were friendly. None of them were skittish or grumpy. My husband spent pretty much the entire hour playing with Rufus. Overall, a great experience and when we are ready to adopt, we will be back. read more

Staff were super welcoming and friendly. We lost one of our kitties in Nov 2025 to heart disease and I visited Tail Town in preparation for a future adoption. I was frankly amazed by the cleanliness of the facility, the staff knowledge of each cat personality & idiosyncrasies as well as the dedication to finding a perfect fit for each cat/owner. The space is filled with open cat cubbies that the cats can claim as their own territory. Most cats are 1-2 years old. Visitors to Tail Town make an appointment and are immediately met by a staff member and introduced to kitties based on visitor experience with cats and direct observation of interactions. I came for the regular one-hour session. Love that there are so many kitties that you can play with. This is a great place if you want to get exposure to handling cats or to get to know certain cats before you adopt one. There are plenty of cats around. Not all the cats are out at the same time because some may feel under the weather so they stay in their cubby. Tail Town provides many variety of toys to get the cat's attention, I don't think you can provide them snacks. It's not like a cat cafe so I'm not sure if you can bring food inside, but if you bring a drink make sure it's a closed container. If you're not a regular, it does take a while for the cats to warm up to you. They mostly all love playing with toys. The volunteer on shift does a great job of informing the guests of the cat's personality, likes and dislikes, which cats are friendlier, etc. Tip: The more you use the toys and play with the cats, some warm up to you more. I would be hesitant about petting them fast. There is a bathroom if you need to go, however, you'll have to make sure not to let the cats go inside. All the employees and even other customers were so nice. It's kept very clean and all the cats seem healthy and happy. Plenty of places for them to get away if they don't want people around them. But most were pretty social and sweet cats. We stayed long enough to see them feeding the cats at the end of the day, which was really cool. It was wonderful getting to pet and play with the cats. 2 of our cats died this past year, so it was comforting to be around cats again. Especially other friendly orange ones like our boys were. Attended a Kitty Bingo event at this location and had such a fun time! I've been to other cat cafes once before and the cats were a little standoffish, but when I came to Tail Town many cats interacted with us as we sat playing Bingo. The staff was super friendly and made the event an enjoyable experience, giving us plenty of time in between rounds to play with the cats. Tail Town is a cute spot! The area to play with the cats is sizable and they don't micromanage playtime. They also have Cat Bingo as well as Yoga! So, the reason I say Cat versus Kitty is because we took our kid there because the IG posts said "kitty" all over it. So we assumed there would be some smaller Kitty friends there. But no, there were only cats. Which is totally fine! She had a great time! Also, a side note that should be taken with a grain of salt, unless it applies to you - if you're sensitive to smells, this place has an...odor. We realize there are a lot of cats and everything in the place is CLEAN, but there's a scent in the air. We go to Crumbs & Whiskers too, and the smell is light, that's how I know it's more on the moderate side. Overall, Tail Town is a lovely place if you're looking to adopt a new cat friend.
