I injured my shoulder at work and I was referred here for acupuncture treatment. I have 2 tears, frozen shoulder and one other issue that has no name but anyways so you get the back story. Dr Liu is very good, he truly cares about you and each and every session he tried something new and listened to my concerns, my pain level and comfort level to make sure I benefit from the treatment. Unfortunately my injury is pretty bad and won't be fixed by acupuncture. I was only approved for 6 sessions and he tried his very best but since my injury is pretty bad I ended up not seeing any benefits. Also, Cindy is such a great massage therapist. I found this spot through Googling the places that came up on my insurances provider search and didn't even check Yelp cuz I was in so much pain and desperate to go anywhere that could get me in same day... based of my experience I can say they do indeed deserve such a great rating on here! They were so kind and communicative. Made sure to explain my benefits to me and pricing prior to treatment. The office was clean, simple, easy to find and there was parking right out front. The treatment itself was fantastic. They made sure that I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I couldn't walk, sit, get up or stand comfortably when I walked in and after the treatment I felt 50% better. I had a male acupuncturist who's name I don't recall but he really did a fantastic job. He followed the acupuncture with a pressure point massage of sorts and whatever he did was so helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is in pain. I went originally for the massage but I asked the receptionist and she said I can do both acupuncture and massage with the insurance card I provided her! I don't know much about his acupuncture work, but the acupuncture Dr couldn't speak English very well and so our consultation time took longer as I was trying different to ask him a question but he was answering the same response. Then she told me the insurance doesn't cover the massage and you took too much in the acupuncture session as if I was the one managing people. It was my very first time, no experience and certainly no watch on the acupuncture bed to manage the time !!! I end up getting 15 min massage and I was 15 min late myself, but didn't really like that I checked a few times about the cost, time and the procedure involved and yet not getting what I was told to and had to argue with them about what I communicated with them before! read more

The massage was exactly what I needed for the past few months. Kevin was good and concentrated on the areas (upper and lower back) I asked for. The pressure was on point (medium). The hour went by fairly quick! And I was so tempted to ask if we can extend it but I know they work on appointments and they were nice enough to squeeze me in. The only thing was I wished they dimmed the lights and used more aromatherapy oils. I'm a sucker for those and it just adds to the whole experience. I opted for the oriental massage this time and might just try their Swedish option next visit. Because you bet, I will be back next week! The pricing is competitive bad very reasonable for the area. We live in Orange County and have a toddler so it's a bit a drive for us, but they are very accommodating and are working with us. We have accupuncture appointments every two weeks on Saturdays and they had prescribed both my husband and I herbal medicine to take to get our bodies healthy for pregnancy. They were also kind enough to mail us the pills since we lived far. After about two months of treatment and herbal medicine, I got pregnant! I'm now 16 weeks and crossing my fingers everything works out. We are still going for accupuncture treatments and Keane has been great! read more

I went for a stone massage here using class pass. This is not a safe spot. The red flags started when I arrived and was not given any paperwork to complete. I was taken to the back by a young man. The massage was rough and when I asked him to be more gentle, he seemed confused. He explained he did not speak English well. He then proceeded to massage my inner thighs and buttock. I asked him to stop and he continued to massage the areas. He then started to use the stones, which is what I was expecting, but the stone massage lasted 5-7 minutes. He then asked me to flip over, which made 0 sense since I had signed up for a stone massage on my back. I asked him to leave, but he did not understand. I had to get up to stop the massage as I did not feel safe and was not understood. I blame this studio for hiring staff who are not sufficiently proficient in English. I also was not briefed on what a "stone massage" entailed. This place is a law suit waiting to happen. Females beware. This is an update in response to the manager: Paige, I continue to be disappointed by my experiences with your institution. Clients, especially women, would be horrified by your handling of this situation. First of all, it does not matter if the service provider is male or female- if a client requests that the buttock area and inner thighs not be massaged, then the request must be honored- regardless of male or female, it is a violation of a person's body. If Wendy does not understand enough English to honor these basic requests, then you should have an interpreter present at all times. I will remind you that I requested "please stop" over and over and over, and my request was not understood. It felt like a violation as I made it clear I did not feel comfortable having that area touched. Second, it does not matter if your employee works with Workmans Comp clients. Your employees should introduce themselves, explain what they will be doing and listen closely to the client. Every client is different, and the requests of each client must be heard and honored. My experience at your facility was disrespectful and unprofessional. The ClassPass prompt clearly states that paperwork and an introduction would be completed upon arrival. There is no excuse for the lack of care and professionalism of your establishment. read more

I was having a painful episode of plantar fasciitis that made me stop taking my walks for exercise. Went to see a podiatrist at Kaiser that gave me a corticosteroid injection in my heel and recommended icing and to get a CAM boot for a month. I did all that, and some exercises and stretches I saw on YouTube but there was little improvement. I asked my doctor to get me approved for acupuncture and eventually I received a list of practitioners in the Pasadena area. I chose Tai Wellness for two reasons: 1- I saw it had excellent reviews and 2- It was a short drive from my home. The practitioner I got was the owner, Kuei Ku Liu. He was very gentle placing the needles in my heel and Achiles tendon area. After that he would give my foot and lower leg a massage and stretched and rotated the foot at the ankle. I never experienced any pain and I'm glad to report that after several sessions the plantar fasciitis is gone and I've able to resume my walking workouts. Tank you Dr. Kuei! If I ever need acupuncture again, you bet I'll come back to Tai Wellness Center, and I happily recommend it to anyone needing any of their services. read more

I twisted my knee during skating, and my friend recommended me about this place. Dr. Kuei is very kindly and knowledgeable, he consulted me for a while and came up wif the treatment and a schedule for me. Usually I am afraid of needle, but he is really good at it, and I couldn't feel them at all (maybe a bit itchy) He do the acupressure with my knee and relax the muscles around that area. I also do the cupping therapy, which helped my blood flow. Before the treatment, I feel pain and paralyzed in my knee whenever I walk, now I feel great after three visits. I've seen Dr. Liu, for many different body aches. And with my returning visits my condition has improved dramatically!!!! Dr. Lui, doesn't just spend 5 minutes with you and off the door you go, he actually listens and spends time treating you. He also recommended herbs for my chronic gerd. I had to take the herbs for two weeks and feel a lot better. I saw three different specialist before that and not one was able to help me out with my suffering. All I was given was more pills I recommend herbs if anyone is suffering. Now I am taking herbs to RELAX!!! let me tel you I feel good!!! I am very happy I found this place. I went here through class pass and I got the hot stone massage. It was the worst massage I've ever gotten. The person was very rough, it was not enjoyable. There wasn't one second of relaxation. I literally think I am traumatized after this massage. I'm writing this review a day after and my back hurts. It feels like it's been bruised. This place confused me because the front desk lady told me they are a medical office since they take insurance/workers comp ... but you're still expected to tip? Sure, that seems very legal lol . I don't remember tipping my chiropractor and on-site massage therapist... but ok. Anyways, this place is super sketchy, the massage person has one speed, and the front desk lady isn't the nicest. This was my second visit and it was less than satisfactory. The "therapist" (based on the approach and bedside manner I really can't be sure this person had any type of training) seemed to be on a mission that didn't involve my comfort. I was asked during my massage to relax several times; I could not relax because I felt like I was being roughed up. When I informed the individual that she was hurting me, her response was to huff and puff followed by an "oh my God" under her breath. She left the room with no information provided, and after being gone for several minutes, I guessed my massage was over so I got dressed. The woman returned to inform me my service was not done. I reassured her it was because at that point, I was hurting and not interested in any more torture. The two stars I have provided are for the cleanliness of the facility. I've been coming here for a couple years mostly for neck and shoulder tightness, the computer curse. It was my first time enjoying acupuncture enough to come regularly. I find it super relaxing and effective. On days when my allergies were bad, I was able to use the acupuncture to treat that instead, and my symptoms went away immediately. That was pre-COVID. I returned this summer for massage and was so happy to find a great new massage therapist who is super specific and intuitive. Came here cause I got a Groupon for the 90 minute deep tissue massage and I'm so glad I did !! I scheduled a next day appointment with them relatively easily. However I was running late for my appt thus he had to cut it to 60 minutes but that was my fault. Regardless the 60 minute massage was great. Kenny really could tell right off the bat where I had my knots. He knew my upper back and neck were very stiff and he even found knots in my lower back I didn't knew I had ! He focused a lot on my knots without hurting me, which I really appreciated. Most Chinese massages either just miss the knots or just keeps going at them incessantly. I was a little sore the next day because it was a deep tissue so just be aware which massage is better suited for you. I prefer deep tissue because I have so many knots in my back. The only complaint about this place is that the walls are thin and you could hear what was going on outside since right outside the door is the lobby. I wasn't here so much for relaxation but for back pain so it didn't bother me much. The pricing is also very reasonable for non-Groupon. I definitely think I will be coming back! read more

Free 2 hours parking on the street and not too hard to find. I booked the appointment on yelp early in the morning. They were really quick to reply to the appointment. I came here for an acupuncturist appointment with Dr. Kuei Liu. The place is quite homey and cozy. Everything seems extremely clean and neat. i have been having back / neck pain for awhile due to residual car accident pain (from a few years ago). I am extremely sensitive to needles, but he was extremely gentle and it really didn't even hurt a bit. They have you put on a robe for the actually acupuncture so they can get to the spots they need to. The table was warmed which was a nice touch since I am always cold. After the acupuncture session, he did a bit of cupping on my back but making sure not to leave any marks. After that he kind of released some of the knots in my upper back. All in all it was a great experience and I would recommend coming back to Dr. Liu anytime! read more

I found the place on Groupon and they were able to match the price so that was good. However, my massage did not go as well as I hoped. I asked for a deep tissue massage and they said they can do that but when it came to the actual "deep tissue" massage it was not it. I kept asking for more pressure but the masseuse could not accommodate. I received a massage that still left me with all the discomfort I came in with. It wasn't what I hoped for. Also a heads up to whoever chooses to go here, they require a mandatory tip for all massages. The minimum for 60 minutes is $10 and 90 minutes is $15. I would not recommend. read more

I wish I knew the name of the masseuse but she didn't introduce herself to me and I didn't ask for her name... anyway My experience here was... painful. I have a really bad upper back and I have found that deep tissue massages helps me ALOT. Back story, I was gifted an expensive massage somewhere else a month ago and discovered how AMAZING it was for my upper back so I wanted to keep it up but I couldn't afford the prices at the other place I decided to give this a try mind... you this is half the price. The place is nice and clean. The lady massaging me started massages me over a towel which was weird and in the beginning she offered to add on hot stones so I said yes. She left the room.... and she left the room 3 times with a considerable amount of time which was not added back to my actual massage. This is mainly because nothing was accessible to her in the room or the room wasn't prepped with products before she started the massage Not only that but her deep tissue HURT, at times it felt like she was using one knuckle to massage certain places and I just took the pain. The hot stones were burning, I haven't experience hot stones anywhere else so maybe this is how it should be... not sure, again I had to bare the pain I have high pain tolerance too. It's been a couple of day and I'm just disappointed because none of the pains I typically have, have not improved like they did the last massage I had. Lesson learn, you get what you paid for but I would have hope the pain would have been reduced.
