Umm I don't know what happen. Their bread taste like nothing. It is not sweet and has no flavor. Also the texture is tough to chew., not tough like gum but not normal for Chinese bread. Egg custard bread has no flavor. How is that even possible Compare to more populated Asian cities or 85C bakery. This is like a 2/5. Inflation happened I guess.

Tai Pan is not self service like most other Chinese bakeries - instead you order at the counter off a menu and from the display cases around the store. The store is quite small, in the customer area, you can't fit more than a couple of people. They have all the normal breads/buns that you would expect in a bakery of this type. They only accept credit card above $10, otherwise it's cash only. Pineapple Bun ($1.70) - The bun has good sweetness and crumb density. The cookie top is typical of a decent, but not great pineapple bun - good flavor, but quite thin and more floury than crackly or crunchy. Pineapple Red Bean ($1.90) - The bread itself is pretty much the same as the normal pineapple bun, except shaped more like an oval. The red bean paste inside is sweet, and quite smooth. There's a kind of gelatinous texture which is a bit different than other red bean pastes I've had. Overall, the buns here are similar quality and price, but quite a bit smaller compared to Tai Pan's main competitor down the street. Tai Pan does have some items that makes them stand out - stuff like rice cakes and zhongzi. I'd definitely go again to try those out.

The worst dried pork bun I ever had. It's so dry, the cream inside is sour, they put so little dried pork and cream on the bread compare to the ones I always have at 168 market. Almost half of the bun have nothing on it

They have the crispy egg tarts! Love them! I try to go to this bakery still because they still have bake goods the other bakeries don't have. Their bubble tea isn't that great but the goodies are delicious. I believe it's cash only but I cannot remember. Their cheese ham and scallion bun is one of my other favorite buns from here.

Locally owned. Freshly baked buns, tarts, cakes and moon cakes. Not sweet. Limited selection of Asian pastry. Reasonably priced. Minimum of $10 purchase using a credit card. Cash is accepted. No dining at the moment. A limit of 3 pax inside the bakery. Can't wait to try the pork buns!

Came for the red bean sesame balls, but sadly they were completely sold out. :( Ended up getting a coconut tart, red bean sweet rice cake with the coconut flakes, mung bean and red bean crispy balls and a durian bubble tea. The durian is the only bubble tea that's fresh and not made from syrup. It tasted decent, but the bobas were hard and chewy. The coconut tart was dry, tasty with the coconut but was too dry. The red bean sweet rice cake had too much rice dough and not enough red bean in it and the red bean was much too dry and too chunky inside. The mung bean and the red bean crispy balls were both flaky and crispy but also too dry. None of it was carb worthy and tossed them all after one small bite of each pastry.

Interesting place. Never really had authentic Chinese pastries until this place. Tried one of their specialty cakes with an yolk inside, super weird/interesting texture, not a fan but fun to try and always open to trying new things. Their almond twist was fluffy and sweet but not overly sweet. I'd recommend Thai place at least once! Try it out

It's more of a Taiwanese Pan than a Thai Pan

I always thought I'd enjoy visiting Taiwan, because I never have both my shoelaces done - I only ever Taiwan. And I always thought I'd love the capital in particular, because I have a rich friend from Thailand and I always like the Thai pay - for everything. And I am a "Taipei" personality, you know. This is an absolutely wonderful Asian Bakery in Madison Heights with delicious chalky yummy gooey wife-cakes, which are called something else here. They also have some really yummy Custard Tarts that don't look yummy but most certainly taste yummy. Some bakeries do it the other way around - looks great, tastes meh. Tai Pan is the opposite. The milk bubble tea is just okay and it's not my favourite but I'll try some different flavors next time like the Taro Root that everybody goes on about. Really lovely service too, and had no problem with me being in there right before closing and eating my snacks sitting in there for a couple of minutes. I've been told I'm a snack too, but not as tasty as the ones I got from Tai Pan for next to no money. Anyway, I'm getting carpal tunnel from "Taipan" too much, so I need to stop this review.

sweet bun pastries, crispy cakes, rice cake, sweet rice, cakes and best of all the buns.

This little bakery packs a powerful punch. Not only with taste but the service there is friendly and very welcoming. From sweet bun pastries, crispy cakes, rice cake, sweet rice, cakes and best of all the buns. Omg the buns are out of this world. Prices are cheap and I would highly recommend walking in here and trying one of everything( as you can see we did in the picture posted).

It was a last minute stop in our way out of the area, it was a very small shop, but the sweets were decent.

I had to go back to go get my three croissants that I wanted ffirst visit. I got three loaves of the poppyseed, lemon bread, three chocolate chunk, banana bread, coffee cake, two breakfast sandwiches and three chocolate croissants. $64 + $19.50 The croissant loaf looks interesting, it' comprises of six croissant dough to make the loaf. The breakfast sandwich biscuit is quite good. The biscuit is a bit dry, but still flaky. The egg is light and fluffy and thick too. The coffee cake, lemon poppy seed, breakfast sandwich and chocolate croissant were all yummy. The lemon iced frosting is prominent and good. Not a huge fan of the nuts. The chocolate croissant is really good. Chunky blocks of chocolate. The croissant is super light and flaky. The Coffee cake is crumbly, slightly dry, but great with tea or coffee. The chocolate chunk is just okay, not my jam.

Delightful treats and local goods. I was able to snag one of the tiramisu tins before Christmas time. No, it was not for me to share with friends and family for Christmas, it was literally just for me, myself, and I. It took me a full week to eat it, and it was absolutely delightful from the first bite all the way to the last. I can't wait for these to come back - this time I just might consider sharing with friends and family.

They had fresh chocolate croissants, almond croissants, ham and cheese croissants, a wall of bread loaves, Scones, personal quiches in many flavors, Danish, cookies, etc. I ended up buying more than I meant to, a chocolate croissant, an almond croissants, a ham and cheese croissants, and a quiche Lorraine. All amazing. The service was quick and friendly. I was even asked if I wanted my pastries warmed up. I did get a large coffee to go, as well. It wasn't the freshest cup, but tasty regardless. Most recently I bought a loaf of pepper parmesan bread - it was a huge hit at my house. It toasted up great. I've gotten the pastrami sub a few times, it's huge - at least for me - and I can get 2 lunches out of it. All of the pastries are delicious - it makes it hard to choose. The staff is super efficient, making for barely any wait time. It's clean inside, there are tables for eating in if you want, and there is generally just a nice atmosphere. Definitely a go to spot for a nicer loaf of bread or a yummy treat.
