Visiting Michigan and found the nearest boba spot. I've been to Tiger Sugar's in other locations and have never had the experience I had at this location. Both individuals working behind the counter seemed extremely confused and didn't know the menu. Not only confused with my questions, but with questions others were asking as well. I ordered a red bean matcha and the only thing with some flavor in the drink were the red beans. There was absolutely no matcha flavor at all. Simply tasted like the almond milk they used. Not sure I'll visit this location again.

Decent bubble tea store. Tired their Thai tea, strawberry mochi and mango drink. Mango is the best out of the three with no sugar added. Thai tea a little too sweet for me, unable to decrease sugar level since it's premade. Strawberry mochi is unique and overall good tasting for my son. The mochi inside tasted excellent. They were also able to decrease the sweetness level to accommodate for kids. Service is friendly. Interior is nice and clean. Good parking. Would return to try other drinks.

I'm very new to boba but boy do I want to now, try the entire menu. The coffee bobas and the flan boba is so freakin yummy I was shocked! And I like the baby boba tapioca pearls! The service was fun to me, just even the whole ordering process has its own special vibe to it! Inside the cafe was matching everything with my experience 100% will come back here.

I was first introduced to Tiger Sugar when I lived in NYC in 2020 (during COVID). When I seen that they opened a location in Madison Heights, I became ecstatic and needed to check it out. When I first walked in, the server greeted me and was beyond sweet asking if I need any assistance and I shared I was well aware the items. I ended up getting two of my favorite drinks, Black Sugar Boba with pudding (#5) and Brown Sugar Boba with Taro + Taro Pudding (#7). The boba was chewy and well prepared and the pudding was divined. Overall, I recommend this place to all! There is seating, so you can chill on a date, while studying, reading, or with friends. The drinks were good and the serve was quick and delightful.

My friend and I went to Tiger Sugar as part of a Yelp event. There are so many boba places at this point it is very hard to choose, so it was nice have a good reason to try this specific place. They are primarily a drink place, it looks like they have a couple snacks, but it is focused on boba drink options. My friend is allergic to dairy, and the staff was able to show her plenty of options, or changes, that she could have. I think their boba pearls were particularly good, I've had ones that are not. My friend wondered if they made them as they seemed fresh. They were the perfect level of chewy. I tried the pudding in mine as I'd never had it before. It was not my preference, I did not like the texture in the drink. I do not hold that against Tiger Sugar, others may really like it. They have a small seating area where we had our drinks. They either did not have a restroom or it was closed, there was a hall marked off where they may have one. This was a minor annoyance, if you are having a drink and they have seating restrooms are needed.

This cute spot lured me in again. It's been a while since my inaugural visit. I went for teas this time. I'm finding I'm just not a fan of boba pearls. The drinks are fabulous with that. Service was very fast and they are super friendly! Please stop in and try them out

AMAZING boba the quality was super good and creamy. Definitely worth the drive! We received our drinks quickly after ordering and the restaurant was kept very clean and tidy. It wasn't super busy for a Thursday night.

Super nice people working here they were very talkative, and made sure that my order was right. The milk tea was delicious I definitely enjoyed the coffee jelly in mine! Overall the establishment was very calming and well maintained with some Christmas decorations as well. I would highly recommend anyone give this place a try.

Excellent Tiger Sugar location that might be the first in the Detroit area (hence the signage proclaiming "Tiger Sugar Detroit"). Impressive selection of milk tea beverages, from iced green tea lattes with foam, to Thai iced tea varieties, to brown sugar drinks and more. Great service although you can primarily order on a kiosk. They also have their own egg rolls (packaged), popcorn and other sweets you can buy on the side. Check it out in Madison Heights!

This place is so good! I loved the classic milk tea, and the mini boba pearls were so fun. The pudding was flavorful. We also tried the passion fruit green tea which was good, but the star of the show was the classic milk tea boba! Staff were super nice offering to help and answer any questions. We ordered on the large iPad so we could see pictures of everything as we decided what to get. Prices were so good. Where else can you get a 5.99 boba tea?? I definitely will be back soon!

Tiger Sugar is a name whose brand is reputable and the drinks are of high quality. The red bean is a personal favorite! Service was straight forward because we knew what we want and ordered quickly. The ambiance is soothing - I appreciated that there wasn't loud background music - but I didn't find the chairs the most comfortable when sitting. I'm glad Tiger Sugar has more Michigan locations!

Great ambience and friendly, quick service. This was my first time here and the employee who helped me was very welcoming and explained there were different milk alternative options: whole, 2% milk, lactose free or oat milk. I ordered #4 (Tiger Meet Coffee) and subbed oat milk for dairy with less sugar and ice. I was surprised how dark the drink looked, and it didn't have the Instagram worthy "tiger stripes" the franchise is famous for. I took a picture immediately after it was made, before shaking it up. You can clearly see it contained very little milk. I enjoyed the texture and chewiness of the boba but it lacked the creaminess of the milk. The espresso was too strong for my liking and not balanced with 1/2 espresso and 1/2 milk like a traditional latte. Next time I'll order a fruit tea or ask for more milk. The mango drink or black tea with lychee popping boba sounds delicious! I would love to come back and try those. It would be a fun place to meet up with friends over my regular coffee spot hang out.

I was in the area and swung by to get the #1 brown sugar milk with boba and pearls. I had the lactose free milk, and since it was a hot day I didn't make any adjustments to the ice. It was simply refreshing! The larger and smaller tapioca were the perfect, soft texture. The brown sugar flavor was still strong, but the sweetness was perfect, and probably tempered by the milk. As I walked in, I saw they had a new offering: jumbo boba. I asked what it was and apparently it's spheres of coffee jelly that are meant to break up as you sip on the drink, or else they won't fit through the straw otherwise. Intriguing, I might get this next time!

Newly designed 168 Asian Mart:…read more One of my favorite things to do is take people on what I jokingly call international food tourism around Metro Detroit. Not because I'm trying to convert anyone into a foodie. I simply enjoy watching people discover how much of the world exists beyond the handful of grocery aisles they've known their entire lives. For many Americans, walking into an authentic international market can be surprisingly intimidating. We become accustomed to recognizing brands, labels, and packaging. Remove that familiarity and suddenly a routine grocery trip becomes an exercise in navigation. My route usually starts in Clawson at Noble Fish. Anyone who only knows Noble Fish today would have a difficult time understanding what it used to be. The original operation was tiny. You walked into a modest Japanese grocery store and somehow found one of the best sushi counters in Michigan tucked away inside. The closest comparison I can make is the scene from *Wayne's World* when Wayne opens a random door and discovers a room full of highly trained ninjas. You weren't expecting it, which somehow made it even better. Over the years demand did what demand does. The restaurant grew. The market grew. White Wolf arrived. Additional space was absorbed. What was once a small hidden destination has evolved into something much larger while still maintaining the character that made people seek it out in the first place. From there I usually take people to the plaza where ZZang's BBQ is located. I call it the toy store. The plaza contains restaurant supply stores, bakeries, specialty grocers, and enough cookware to make most home cooks reconsider their life choices. There are roasted meats hanging in windows, commercial equipment sitting on shelves, and ingredients most people have never seen before. For newcomers, it is often the first moment they realize these foods were never designed for tourists. They were built for communities. The next stop is H Mart. By this point people have usually relaxed. The initial hesitation disappears and curiosity takes over. Instead of asking what something is, they begin asking how it's used, how it's prepared, and what they should try first. Then we arrive at 168 Asian Mart. Located in Madison Heights on John R Road, 168 has become one of the largest Asian grocery destinations in Michigan. Recent expansion and renovation have transformed the store into something far beyond the market many people remember from years ago. The footprint has grown dramatically, the selection has expanded, and the new food hall has turned the location into a destination rather than simply a place to shop. What I appreciate most about 168 is that it serves as a culmination of everything people experienced throughout the day. The market itself represents dozens of cultures and cuisines under one roof. The food hall allows visitors to sample dishes from across Asia without committing to a full restaurant experience. Just outside, the neighboring plaza connects visitors to an authentic Lebanese marketplace and restaurant, creating an experience that extends well beyond a single grocery store. What starts as a shopping trip often becomes something else entirely. People arrive worried about buying the wrong thing, unable to read half the packaging, and unsure where to begin. A few hours later they're filling baskets with ingredients they had never heard of before and discussing what they plan to cook when they get home. That transformation is probably why I keep bringing people here. Not because the markets are exotic or that the foods are unusual. Because every trip reminds people that entire communities, traditions, and cuisines have existed around them all along. They simply hadn't taken the time to walk through the front door. I love being a personal Food Tour Guide

This review is for the 168 BBQ and restaurant section of the store, located in the back, inside the…read morestore. The 168 restaurant offers a large selection of prepared Chinese dishes sold by the pound - meats, vegetables, noodle dishes, including fresh warm soy milk. You can also place an order for items pictured on the wall by number. We placed an order for the duck soup $10.99 - duck was good but soup broth wasn't flavorful and noodles weren't fresh and were overcooked. It came in a carry out bowl, comparable to an XL size instant ramen bowl. Service in this area was ok, the cashier taking the order was impatient because we could not understand what she was saying and thus took longer to place the order. BBQ - we ordered the roast duck rice meal which came with a lot of rice, chopped duck pieces, steamed green veg and a small container of sauce. Duck meat was very tasty but very cold, and deceivingly a small amount of meat in the meal because it was full of bones. Regardless it was still a decent value for $8.98. Service was quick, but a bit unfriendly as well. I would come back to buy the roasted meats but would buy whole or large cuts (I.e. whole duck, whole chicken), cut it up myself to minimize bones in each bite and warm it up at home.
