I'm so glad I found this place. I'm a huge milk tea with boba fan and I really miss all the shops back in California. Upon entering the place is cute with plenty of tables to sit and relax. There is a huge menu available upon entering the shop. There are so many different options you can pick and choose from. Overall, the shop was clean and inviting. I decided to try the WOW Oreo per the cashier's recommendation since I can't have caffeine while I'm pregnant. There was a huge order ahead of mine and I thought I was going to be waiting for my one drink for a little while they accommodate the large order, but I was wrong. We probably waited no less than 5 minutes until my number was called to pick up. I could feel the warm dark sugary boba at the bottom of the cup. It was so good. I love that the chunks of Oreo weren't too big that couldn't get through the straw. Bonus for me at least, the milk wasn't too sweet which was perfect because the brown sugar boba was incredibly sweet already. The boba was cooked perfectly, not too chewy, or undercooked. Woah, for once an actually legitimately good Kung Fu Tea franchise post-Covid. I had almost written off this chain but decided give this location another try for the St. Patrick's Day special. I actually have in my history that I visited here on three separate occasions, once in 2019 (pre-pandemic), and twice in 2020 (post-pandemic), with some scathing notes stating that the boba was rock hard all three times and giving the place a tentative 1/5 score. I remember back on my very first visit the place was completely full with customers sipping on drinks and hanging out in store. If I remember correctly, this was the only second wave-type chain boba shop in the entirety of Metro Detroit at that point in time, so it kind of made sense. For my most recent visit over the weekend, this Kung Fu Tea location, now with way more competition, seems to be primarily a takeout shop. I ordered via the app, expecting that the drink would be ready by the time I reached the store. When I got there, I found out that apparently at this store you still have to notify them before they start making the drinks. It only adds an additional 5 minutes or so, so it's not really an issue. Regular Pistachio Almond Slush ($5.95) - We just got this to try it out since I had to buy two drinks for the deal. The strong artificial almond flavor really punches you in the face, while the pistachio quietly dances in the background. Otherwise, it's a pretty normal slush texture. The sweetness is on point at 100%. I personally wouldn't get this again because there are other drinks I prefer, but I think it's a perfectly drinkable cold treat. (3/5) Regular Matcha Milk Strike, Large, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Brown Sugar Wow Boba ($7.40) - I originally ordered the sesame matcha, but the store was out of sesame mix so I had to change it to the normal matcha. The matcha here has the distinctive kind of grassy and earthy flavor of a culinary matcha, which is appreciated given that some other places use an almost flavorless green powder in their matcha drinks. The drink feels thick and creamy even though there's no milk cap on it. Again the sweetness is perfect at 50% (I'm surprised that the app didn't allow me to adjust from 100%, but I asked the owner to tone it down the 50%). The boba, which is very inconsistent between locations, is actually pretty good here. It's soaked in a brown sugar syrup, giving it the characteristic brown sugar taste, and allowing the exterior to generate a bit of a sticky texture. The chew is just a bit too hard, but overall it's the best I've had from KFT since the pandemic began. (4/5) Bathrooms - One unisex, pretty spacious, bathroom in the back. This was the only good experience I've had at a KFT since 2019. To be honest, I don't think I would go here again, but that's because there are other newer boba shops in the area I prefer. I took the kids up there on Sunday and the Asian girl with the mole on her lower neck refuse to sell me a side of popping boba. Came here with my brother during their Peach special. I ordered the leading lady and peach showstopping milk tea. If you irder two of peachs drinks you could receive the little peach bag and the atraw cap but you have to ask for it. KFT was the first big boba chain that opened up in the Metro Detroit. My friends and I went nuts with excitement when this place first opened several years ago. I'd say this KFT location is probably the best KFT I've tried, but it's still not great for boba, in my opinion. For quality boba, I'd definitely go somewhere else, but overall, the drinks here are solid for KFT. I come here for the location and interior. It's big and spacious, great place for meeting with friends. There's also games you can play and it's also opened later than other boba/dessert locations. Today, I got the sesame original milk tea with boba with 0% sugar. I'm not a huge sweet tooth, and KFT soaks their boba with honey. However, I found this drink much too sweet. The sesame probably has sugar in it, so RIP. This drink felt more like 50% at most generic boba places. Overall, I give this place a 4/5 because it's the best KFT I've gone to. Best bubble tea in Detroit area beside Tao & Mai. The place is clean and comfortable. Many selection of flavor and they also serve macaroons. I only had the normal milk tea with aloe jelly. It's not just sugar and milk, you actually can taste the tea in it. Tao& Mai has stronger tea flavor but whatever, this is Detroit. It is not too sweet either. Wow, at last an authentic bubble tea place this side of Michigan! Hidden away in a small strip mall, easy to miss. However it's clear that word had gotten out as a steady flow of customers were coming and going to Kung Fu tea. They have a pretty large menu and plenty of topping choices, including red bean and green bean. Also love that they have seasonal specials. I tried the pumpkin oolong milk tea and it tasted better than I had hoped. The bubbles were sweetened with a fragrant type of honey syrup and nice and chewy. Speed wise they could use some improvement though, as it took over 10 minutes for my one tea, even though there didn't appear to be big orders before me. I wanted to take off my pants, but I didn't, because then it would've been Hung Fu Tea. What to get: Lemon Black Tea, Any other fruit tea with black tea, Hot Milk Teas. I didn't smell any cow poop while in here. Otherwise it'd be Dung Fu Tea. But my drink did fall in the toilet, so there's that. This is a delightful and brand new Kung Fu Tea location which was originally supposed to be the very first KFT in the state of Michigan. Due to various holdups a different KFT opened up in East Lansing, but this is the first in the entire Detroit metro area, and it has been packed out the door on all of its opening days. I was able to visit three times during my week in Detroit and I really like this location. I stopped pretending to be a turtle when ordering here. Otherwise it'd be Kowabunga Fu Tea. The plus side is that they make a good lemon black tea with good tapioca. They do not have a credit card minimum and it's a very comfortable place to hang out with a lot of friendly people working here. I didn't need major surgery while in here. If I had, it might've been Collapsed Lung Fu Tea. A few issues to iron out which is part of the learning curve such as running out of tapioca and not taking credit cards but I'm sure that will be solved very quickly. I don't perform music in the bathroom anymore. Otherwise it'd be "Sung Fu Tea." The only issue I would see being a reason why I would not give it 5 stars is that they are one of the many locations (about 50%) that will not give me black tea instead of green tea with the fruit drinks such as Orange, Very Berry, and Pineapple. I prefer black tea and I love the Very Berry or the Orange made with black tea. It's very easy for them to do but they're not supposed to do it due to head office regulations (pathetic decision by head office, they've gotten so many low-star ratings from me because of this). Roughly half of the KFT locations will gladly do it. The other half will not. This is one of the ones that told me very definitively that they will not. I hope they will change this policy. Because it's a policy that gets them less business. I was asking what kind of beans they had one time. The girl was like "what is this, Mung Fu Tea?" Also, the owner told me the scores of the World Cup games that I had DVR'd (lol) so then I didn't bother watching them. But he was a super friendly guy and had no idea he was messing it up for me. It's my fault for mentioning soccer when he asked how I stay in shape (flips hair). I asked them both "what is the past tense of I Bring Kung Fu Tea?" They incorrectly responded "Brung Fu Tea." I will still give 5 stars because I really like the products and the owner is awesome. And everybody working here was really friendly. But if they're still unwilling to adjust my drink next time I come in, it may end up having a lower star rating. They should read this and think about that policy. Half the KFTs in the country will do it for me, and they're not getting in trouble over it. Some rules are meant to be broken. I asked one of the many server girls that I love, here, on a date. But then I found out how old she is, or isn't, I should say. So we had to cancel. So it's "Young Fu Tea." And I keep seeing girls (and boys) (older than legal age) in miniskirts in this location. YAS. I am a fan of Kung Fu Tea because they have various locations throughout the midwest & they're reliably tasty. The last time I had boba (or bubbles, whatever) milk tea was during my trip to Taiwan in May. I usually come back a boba snob because it's hard to complete with BMT from the source, the motherland. But, I opted for the Oolong Milk Tea with Mini Bubz. If mini boba is an option, always get the mini boba! It's a little less overwhelming from a chewy texture perspective than the normal sized boba. Also, it's less likely to be "stale." If you haven't had it before, it's kind of like the tapioca you find in tapioca pudding. Even though I got half sugar, it was still a little too sweet for my liking so 25% sugar next time. Regardless, Kung Fu Tea is a fantastic place to get your BMT fix! 189/365 read more

One of the best boba places in Michigan! Yes, I said "boba" and not "bubble tea." I'm from SoCal, that's how we roll. There are some pretty good boba places in SoCal, but Kung Fu Tea is the best. The boba here is always fresh, soft, and just a little bit chewy. The boba even has a bit of that green tea taste to it as well. Honestly the best boba I've ever had. I usually don't like too much boba in my drinks, but I want as much boba as I can get at this place. Best drink I've had in this place is the Wow Milk Oreo. The milk they use is Lactaid. I'm lactose intolerant, so this drink is perfect for me. I can just chug down this drink without having to worry about my stomach hurting. As far as customer service, they're friendly, and they crank out drinks really fast. I like the shaker they have in back, the machine moves really fast in a circular motion, ensuring the flavor is evenly distributed through the drinks. When pouring the drinks, they also put the liquid through a strainer so you get more liquid in your drink, and less foam. When I get drinks at Starbucks they always have too much foam in the drinks, so you're not getting much liquid in your drinks. My friend got me bubble tea here very recently and they ran out of their own bubble tea straws so they used the basic bubble tea straws from the Asian mart. We stopped by here tonight kind of spur of the moment, I saw they were open until 10pm and we were already out seeing a movie that got out around 9:30pm. Definitely download the app - I downloaded it a few weeks ago to check it out, and you get a $4 credit towards your first drink. I got a large Kung Fu milk tea with mango jelly (which ended up being similar to lychee jellies) and my boyfriend got a large Taro milk tea, with boba. They have a huge menu and it was hard to decide what to get; I originally wanted a Thai milk tea but they were out of it. You can add your credit card to the app and the $4 credit will apply to your first drink, mine ended up being about 80 cents after that which is an awesome deal. The place was super crowded at 9:30pm on a Saturday, but it looked like they had lots of board games and other games like Jenga. I'd like to go back during the afternoon when hopefully it's not as crowded and maybe stay and play games - this time we got our drinks to go. I'm excited to finally have a good bubble tea place in this neighborhood, though! Bubble Island in Ann Arbor is my all-time favorite, and the tea here was similar to theirs - and a lot closer to my house. So yummy that I'm already craving more!! This is by far the best and most authentic boba place that I have found so far in MI. I heard that it was good, but I didn't realize that it was amazing! I was craving boba after my workout. From the moment that I walked in, I could already tell that it would good based on the fact that I had to ask for an English menu. I'm guessing that the one they had out was in Chinese. The workers clearly knew what they were doing and all of the customers at the time didn't speak English so I knew that it would be good! I ordered the Kung Fu Milk Tea with bubbles. A really nice older man gave me my drink and I took one sip and fell in love (with the drink). I didn't adjust the sweetness and it was the perfect amount. Not too sweet. Also, you could watch them create it in front of you (unlike some other boba places that have it pre-made in a fridge and it tastes like condensed milk.. this place is actually nearby.. lol) I would definitely return. I really thought I was driving to the wrong place when viola! there it was.i wanted to try this place after one of my students brought me a drink to class and it was so good, I had to scratch the itch. For a random weekday afternoon it was very busy. There were high school aged kids hanging out with friends enjoying a drink over some board games, some families and lots of people waiting for drinks to go. While it was busy, I probably only waited 15-20 minutes for my drink. They have a rather large drink menu with tons of options from fruity to sugary sweet.
