After experiencing Korean BBQ in LA and Phoenix, we decided to look for one in Tucson. I looked up the cuisine on Yelp and when I found this one i realized that I'd probably driven past this place 1000 times without ever noticing it. The BBQ side of this place is tucked away in the back. We went as a party of 8 with reservations and were only seated once everyone was there as the clock starts on their 2-hour limit once the party is seated. Once the ordering procedure was explained, we were off to the races. We started with the appetizer which you must order, or they don't bring it, then proceeded to order our meats and sides. Since we were really seated at 2 tables of 4, each table with its own grill, we were limited to one meat or side order per round. This worked perfectly as our waitress was always nearby when we wanted to start another round. The meal was delicious, especially the chicken and the beef bulgogi. We all left stuffed with plenty of time to spare within our 2-hour window. I can't wait to go again! read more

the food is great and if i am with a smaller party it goes well. i will say, if you have 6+ you will have automatic gratuity, which is fine but they will be careless for you. we had drink orders ignored, eye rolls, and sat 20-30 mins waiting for checks. ive worked in this industry for awhile i know big parties sucks and grats are easy, but i just wish there was more care for big parties. the more u care the extra tip you get. besides that food is great, do the premium menu always. i wanna say dakota is the name of the server (im hoping thats it) if so, he is great and will get u what u need and make sure you're taken care of!!!! read more

The employees were really nice and attentive. Food was really good including all the sides they give you. The spicy pork bulgogi was my favorite. The bad part is the grilled turn off at least 5 times and it caught fire. Also the ventilation is not really good and you come out smelly. They do tell you that if you don't finish the food you have to pay $5 for each meat you don't finish. I personally think it's a bit pricey considering 7 ounces gives you enough food for cheaper. I was very disappointed with our dining experience. We were wanting to try it for a while now and when we drive by, it's always so busy. My mother in law got there first and had already talked to the host when my husband and I showed up. The host never said whether she was putting a table together or not and just walked away. A few minutes went by and at least 6 staff members walked by us without any eye contact or even acknowledging that we were in the building. Actually, there was a man and women (employees) that walked through our group, yes literally walked in between our group, to walk out the front door and seemed like we were inconveniencing them for being there. The host came back a few minutes later to seat us at a table. The server came and asked if we had been there before, which we answered that we haven't and then told us that as a table to had to order the premium or original menu and then walked away without taking drink orders. She came back with an array of random 'appetizers' that were free, but in my opinion, don't waste your time. They aren't any good. They have a good assortment of meat and vegetables options, but you can only order 4 items at a time, including vegetables. If it was just my husband and I would understand that policy, but there were 5 of us eating. Our grill didn't seem to be very hot and it took a long time to cook anything. I think our server came back every 25 minutes to check on us unless we flagged her down. Don't waste your time on the pork belly. It's way too salty and fatty to be grilled on a flat top. It's a great concept, but not executed well. In all, it's not worth your time and money. read more

Stevan always gives us such amazing service! Every single time we come in here, he greets us with a smile, he remembers my husband and I, and he always gives us and every customer around him his 100% attention until they are satisfied! We are excited everytime we see him because we know we are going to be taken care of really well! And it's not just him, the team that has been cultivated around him been with his level of service. He's one of the best servers we have ever met, and he makes coming to an already great place that much better. If I was running that establishment, giving him a raise would be my top priority because he's a keeper! read more

i've been to quite a few kbbq places in both arizona and nevada and i am honestly disappointed with taegukgi. there was not enough staff working for the size of the restaurant so it was quite a long wait time before someone came to ask what we would like. we would finish eating one thing and then sit there for several minutes before being asked if we wanted to order more. the portions are very small. of course you can order as much as you would like in a 2 hour time limit but the wait between each order is not worth it for the amount of food you get on each plate. the sauce selection isn't bad, but they have such a small plate of it that you've finished it within a few minutes and again back to the wait time. for $30+ a person i expected more. i think i would much rather drive to phoenix to pay less and get more out of it. all in all i think they need to hire more staff or have bigger portions so people aren't waiting such long times read more

Hostess quoted 20 mins, after 30 plus mins waiting, we were told it would be an additional 30 mins. FYI the waitlist on YELP does NOT work. Hoping they find a more friendly and competent hostess. They had no one here to bus any of the tables. It took an hour to be seated, they said they were short staffed. Its sad because it's a nice restaurant and there's not too many all you can eat Korean BBQ In Tucson. Service really sucks. That's not really the employees responsibility to keep this place running. I miss 7 ounce that's for sure, but this place isn't bad. The wait list can be very long and they do "offer" online check-in for the list but then take it down. You can't call same day for reservations and they have last call at 9 pm I believe. So in reality, their signs should say 'last to be seated at 7:30 gets the full 2 hours but you can stay til 10'... The lighting in the place is a bit too dark and I don't like that you can't adjust the gill yourself. The seasonings on the meats aren't always the same; so they are a bit inconsistent. There are for sure some kinks to work out here but it works. read more

Made reservations for Sunday evening and we were seated promptly by a friendly hostess. Our waiter, Carter, took our orders within a couple of minutes of being seated and checked back with us frequently, as did other staff. Our side dishes were placed on the table promptly- our favs were the cucumber kimchee, fish cake, and bean sprouts. These were quickly replenished upon request. The daily specials for drinks included a Bulleit old fashioned for $4 (!) and a Sapporo draft beer for $3- good deals! We opted for the premium menu- particularly enjoyed the beef short ribs (kalbi), which were meaty and delicious. The chicken was another favorite. Our grill was fine, no issues as reported by other reviewers. We gave our second meat order at the time the first order was delivered and it was delivered to us while we were finishing our first. We were too full to order more after the second order, but would have had plenty of time to do so if we weren't already satiated. All in all, a great experience. Wonderful, efficient staff (especially Carter), upbeat modern atmosphere, and and very tasty food. Our only critique would be the background music- need something different (k-pop maybe?) TicTok has let me down again. I saw this place on tictok and figured we would give it a try. We were in town for the night, visiting from LA. We decided to come here because the family wanted KBBQ and a plus was it was a women owned business. With all the choices in LA for KBBQ, it might have set the bar too high. the meats weren't fresh and the portions were small even when we asked for a double orders. I know it's all you can eat, you are probably thinking, just order more, it's all good and well if the service was up to bar but it wasn't. The wait to be seated was an hour and once we got seated we were not serviced for another 15 mins if we didn't waved someone down it might have been another 15 until someone noticed us. Once ordered, we had to follow up/remind them on our order. It might have been a bad night for them but I wasn't impressed, I mean LA has some bad service but this was worst than that. read more

Greatest Korean bbq I've ever been to in Tucson. I believe this is even better then a Korean bbq spot I went to in Las Vegas. The corn cheese is a spot you want to hit, very delicious. I would give it almost a 4 - food, experience and service. We were excited to go because this would be our first KBBQ-grill-it-yourself during COVID. The food came in small portions so you end up finishing them quickly and the server does come as often. There's a limit of 4 items per order places which meant everything on the menu except for small sides (i.e, butter, garlic, egg) so if you want salad or onions, wait until the next order or remove item(s) (I.e., meat). The cleanup was great. They picked up our empty dishes the minute we placed on the side- 5 stars for that. Another good thing was their beef bulgogi- a must try. Lastly, safety precautions was okay, they did do a zig zag seating to ensure some social distancing:however, during our last 20 minute, there was a table across from us....I would go again when I really crave KBBQ I guess. read more

This spot was not worth the hype. Take your money elsewhere. The server was not listening to our order. Had to asked three times for the stuff we ordered. when i tried to order he kept interrupting. He knows more of what we want to eat. He asked if we are familiar to kbbq and we said yes.. he kept stopping us about the amount we know we can finish. We know we have to pay if we do not finish the food. We put the last order of meat and the meat was different cut. They change the cut of meat so you stop eating coz it was not good. Music is always super loud. Food selection is ok. Always fresh and tasty though. Portions are pretty small compared to hundreds of other KBBQ houses that we have visited, but pretty good nonetheless. My biggest complaint is the non-family-friendly, hip-hop music playing too loud to speak over to have a good conversation with our party members. read more

Service has dramatically declined in a year. They have huge turnarounds for their staff which alone is telling. The staff used to be super attentive and now they come when they remember they're serving you which can be upwards of 30 minutes (unless you flag them down, then they roll their eyes and take their time getting your food). It's ridiculous you can't reserve ahead of time and have to wait until you're physically there to put your name down. On weekdays it's not uncommon to have to wait an hour when the restaurant is half empty. Too bad they've declined in service and won't take advice from customers for reservations, they care more about getting money than retaining anyone. read more

Service was garbage. Portions were small. 5 people+1 child you can only order 4 things at once. One of those four things can be as little as two tiny octopuses. Are we expected to share two bite size octopuses between 6 people. Once the small amount of food that was given, it took 15+ minutes for us to get someone to order more and for the food to come. That plus the time it takes to cook, you're not leaving this place even partially full unless you spend hours here. Most of the time spent here will be staring at nothing because there's nothing to eat. The lighting was terrible too. I'm not sure if all the tables were like ours but half the table was just in the dark, including part of the grill. The air vent over the grill even got stuck inches away from the food. None of the staff bothered to asked if we wanted to change tables when the table right next to us was empty. That's what $240+tip gets you at this place. A rip off for the price! Ordered the premier menu: Ribeye - FROZEN! Mgr said that's how they serve it. Anyone who knows how to cook knows one shouldn't cook a frozen piece of meat. Short Ribs - poor cuts - pretty much all fats and bone. Squid - even with scissor, had difficulty cutting. Beef bulgolgi - nothing special. I could make a better bulgogi. Pretty much paid almost $50 including tip for the tasty pickled radish and fish cake that came free. Mgr offered to look into the bill, but we have already paid. We're not asking for discount or free food. Just want to get what we paid for! All the servers are very nice though. read more

I've had Korean bbq all over the world and this ranks squarely above the bottom third - not bad for Tucson. I'm giving this place three stars because I love the concept, the location, and I really really want them to succeed. I've eaten there three times now, returning with hopes that they can work out some kinks. The food is good, and has potential to be great except it seems they hired angry bouncers as the food staff. Unpleasant service...like you feel apologetic when asking for food that 1) you paid for and 2) you need to cook. The cooking part isn't a new concept. Like many Korean places, each table has a Korean bbq grill. The problem is, the wait staff seems specifically trained to walk around policing the grills to make sure they are on so low, they barely warm the food, often taking the meat and veggies ten or fifteen minutes to cook to a limp, sad finish. To get a delicious sear, we need the heat to be medium high. Once we figured how to turn up the temperature so our shrimp could actually turn pink before turning bad, it seems our table got flagged and we constantly had angry waiters stomping over, turning the grill down to lukewarm. The food simply will not cook this way! My suggestions: Be more generous with the fats: more bacon, more pork belly, some cooking oil at the table, and turn up the heat just enough so the food your guests cook the food the way the grills intended. read more

We had someone seat us and then 15-20 minutes went by before someone had come to see us for drinks. We were told who our server was but she just kept going around us and visiting other tables as my wife and I sat there waiting. Then finally our server came to initially see us and take our drink orders, but didn't bring anything back. I flagged down another server VIICTORIA (DESERVES A RAISE) who didn't know we had been waiting and she brought our drinks and sides out within 2-3 minutes. About 10-15 minutes later our original server came to see how we were doing. And I was just like ...not from you we don't.. but we ended up ordering some food from her which again we waited and waited for but alas it never came. VICTORIA, who came to see how we were doing again after the other girl had come by asked if we had ordered yet. We told her yes and what we had ordered and Victoria had come through again with a 3ish minute wait with everything, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING. Drinks we had reordered cause we were waiting so long, 10 different sides(the little ones in the tiny cups) our drinks, the food, and some other stuff SHE THOUGHT WE SHOULD TRY because she's nice, attentive, and was just being nice. Reminder: VICTORIA doesn't know we're getting terrible service from this other girl. So right now we're already eating and our first server finally came through with extra sides or something that we didn't need, but we ended up taking anyways. Pretty sure it was the stuff we ordered in the beginning. VICTORIA, served us all night long, on time, with an awesome attitude. We greatly appreciate her and her efforts in making our night, that we thought wasn't going to be so good, an awesome night that was really memorable. We asked Victoria if we could tip her and not the other girl, but unfortunately they do the giant tip pot where they all get a certain percentage of all of the tips. I hate that.
