Small hole in wall restaurant near a very commercial area. We found them online and decided to give them a try for take out. The restaurant is very clean and cute inside. I tried the chicken tortilla soup and the broth was very flavorful however, the chicken was so dry I almost choked. My coworker got the three taco special and chose the chicken taco, the carnitas taco and steak taco and specifically asked for no onions or cilantro and his tacos were covered in it to the point you could barely pick it out. After he picked what he could off it was just meat in a tortilla. Not what he hoped for. I've been coming here for 22yrs. Solid, good Mexican staple for dining. I ordered chicken tortilla soup to go. There is like hardly any chicken in the soup. Last few times i noticed that the chicken portions were getting smaller. This time I mean like two scraps! See my photo. Been coming here for years . After Covid not as much but came this week and have to say it holds Up. It great prices , everywhere inflated but for the prices they stayed about the same. Wow was this good! I got the cheese/chicken quesadilla with salad. It was a small proportion which was perfect for me. And the salad was good because it was spinach not iceberg lettuce. Others got tacos and at first were disappointed that they were build your own style but was immediately impressed once they tasted them! And to top it off, the plantains were perfection: not too starchy, and cooked to that point where they start to get caramelized. It was this good and it was takeout so that says something too. We love Tacos Mexico. By far our favorite local Mexican spot. The food is always good and so affordable, they have the best guac in town. This will be our new favorite Mexican restaurant- we yelped last night since we didn't know where to go for dinner and this place popped up. Reviews were good so off we went. It's in a strip mall with parking. It looks a little sketch on the outside but when you get in, it's actually nice. It seems newly renovated/redecorated with only a handful of tables. Fortunately for us, there was no wait. We tried the enchilada and tacos and a berry margarita. They give you chips and salsa for starters and the three kinds of sauce were all very good. The food was delicious! A little heavy on their onions but you can just push it off to the side if you had enough. Otherwise, we cannot wait to go back to try their other dishes. read more

The food is usually very good, but their consistency especially through delivery is so off it's ridiculous. Sometimes the order is kind of thrown together and many times they don't include sauces that go with what you ordered. So you're stuck with a dry taco. Recommend eating in and not ordering takeaway if you're looking to be happy with your food each time. read more

This place was once a hidden gem with amazing food every time. They've consolidated their menu to cater to their expanded customer base. The food and prices were okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here anymore (like I did today). Delicious food. But as they refuse to deliver to our apt, citing a driver not wanting/knowing how to park their car, we cannot get delivery from them. We live on north Main Street. Spoke with the manager the last time, gave them a two month break, tried to add them back into the rotation, and once again was told by management that delivery will not occur because the driver will not park his car. I guess check them out in person but if you live in Sono, do not expect them to deliver. And don't be fooled by the Groupon for delivery, as they then won't accept that for in person dining once denying delivery as an option. read more

I haven't gotten food here in a long time since I'm across town - now that delivery is available that will be changing! And on a rainy Cinco de Mayo too. Ordered lunch for myself and 2 others, and it arrived on time and was yummy. I ordered a burrito and swapped out so much (grilled shrimp for chicken, black beans for refried, no sour cream) and I got just what I wanted. I am SO angry and disappointed yet again. I gave this neighborhood establishment one last shot and purposefully avoided using a meal delivery service so they would not lose a fee in order to support my local restaurant. The delivery person received a generous $10 gratuity on a $25 order. No refried beans and rice were delivered. No tortilla chips delivered. Carnitas in tacos were pale and flaccid (carnitas should be crisped upon second cooking). Queso fundito was a slab of mozzarella with large chunks of sausage and no seasoning. (Resembled dog poo). The food you receive bears no resemblance to their menu description. EVERYTHING ENDED UP IN THE TRASH. I wasted $35 trying to support this restaurant. AVOID!! read more

I laughed when I opened the box and saw how small the burrito was. the burrito was all rice and beans. They are really stingy with their meat. Exceptional food and service. The sopas carnitas were delicioso. We usually get tacos rice and beans to go and they are very good. The meat whether chix, steak, pork (carnitas) or fish is always good quality. Seasoning is good not over kill and never too salty. This time we sat in and even had speciality coffees with dessert. Get the churros! It was all great. No doggie bag tonight. 04/26/19 UPDATE Food is still really good as long as you stick to the basics. We go there or get take out at least 6-8 times a year, more than most places (I am not even local). Ate lunch there today and about 1 month ago, both times food was not hot, not even warm enough. Today ordered off the lunch specials. Soup was decent at best, the raw onion was not appealing. Did not seem very busy, food came out, mine was wrong and when the correct dish came out it was not really that good. Parts of it were cold and the arepas (not a regular menu item) were very oily, the meat was so-so, needed to be heated up. A bit disappointed. Gonna try again, and I hope this review helps improve these issues for next time. I still highly recommend going here and I am pretty sure it will be a great occasion. read more

Awkward set up. Weird entry. And if you happen to not habla espaniol then it's a bit tricky. Once you get past that, the interior is pleasant. Light tables, 1930s style lighting, colorful walls. Latino music. Our server was pleasant. The chips were stale but the 3 salsas were really good. The menu is simple and straightforward. I had the 3 pollo tacos- served traditional style- double small corn tortillas. The chicken was ground- which I don't care for, and it was bathing in a wet mayonnaise style sauce. I didn't care for that either, topped w a flavorless cabbage slaw. NOT the marinated in lime, tangy, crunchy style w jalapeño & cilantro style. I was disappointed. The rice that accompanied it was actually mooshy. Latinos have perfected the art of cooking rice.....I was confused. The guacamole was just ok. My friend had the pollo Creme de Chipoltle and she really liked it. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? Should there be a "wrong" thing served? I crave Baja style Mexican. Hhhmmm, it gets in between a 2 and a 3. It's solid. They expanded from a little carry out establishment into a full blown dining room with bar. First time returning since the remodel, I was mesmerized as it was evening and seemed so festive. Chips and 3 salsas are great and any dish you order is both tasty and well priced. Second time was for a late lunch when I almost walked back out the door as the stark lighting was abrasive and the antiseptic smell nauseating. I was hungry and too tired to find somewhere else so I stayed but the ambiance was awful. These 5 star reviews though, take with a grain of salt if you have any experience with amazing Mexican elsewhere (like Cali!) Why the hell can't any local Mexican place be both inviting and scrumptious? Most around here have the same awful cheap seating in environments that have negative, draining energy. It's a shame that is called "TacosMexico" and it's not even close to what real Mexican food taste like. I am originally from Mexico and this place is by far the worst Mexican food I have ever tried. I placed an order of "steak tacos" and guacamole, and I couldn't even finish one bite. The meat was rubbery and fatty and had no flavor. The guacamole also pretty bad. For the same price, I can have way better tacos at Rio Border or Bar Taco. Definitely not ordering from this place ever again. The queso... it isn't queso, its a layer of sausage with melted cheese on top. You have to scrape it out of the pan. Don't order it. The carne asada plate was fantastic!! I am from San Diego and love authentic Mexican food, which the carne asada definitely appeared to be. I would come back for a relaxing leisurely lunch only, but try something else. First time trying tacos here. I was quite impressed! I didn't expect to enjoy them as much as I enjoy tacos from El Charrito taco truck in Stamford. I ordered their Super Tacos. My 3 tacos were Carnitas, Chorizo, and Pastor. First impression, their tortilla shells were warm and soft. Carnitas were sooooo very juicy and tender. We asked for their hot sauce and they certainly didn't disappoint on the heat level!!! I've been searching for a Mexican restaurant that would give me a real HOT sauce besides El Charrito .. and I've got it! The sauce enhanced tacos to my liking .. HOT! Chorizo was my second favorite out of the 3 and Pastor was just slightly dried, but still tasty. Super Tacos plate comes with rice and guacamole. Rice was so fluffy. I squeezed some lime juice on it and I was in heaven. We expressed how much we LOVE their hot sauce. Our waitress noticed that our hot sauce was running low, she quickly grabbed another bowl for us without us asking for it. That scored a star for this place big time! The only reason that it is not a 5 star restaurant for me is because the smell of the place when I first walked in. It wasn't quite pleasant, but the interior is clean though. This first time we ordered the food was great. The second time it took an hour and a half and my husbands tacos were just chorizo and a tortilla. Nothing else. Today we give them another shot and my fajitas come with gray steak that tastes like it's turned (nothing like the first order). Not risking eating this in case I get sick or having them take another hour to bring me a replacement that might be just as bad if they don't have fresh meat today. Just a heads up: sometimes the food is great, sometimes they mess up your order, sometimes they take forever and sometimes it's inedible.
