We came here for a birthday celebration for a friend and they really knew how to hosted. They have mariachi bands come on a schedule (I forgot it - call ahead) but this Friday night we came was one of the nights for the band. I ordered a lomo saltado and it was absolutely delicious! I had some margaritas as well which were perfect strong and flavor level. Drink presentation was also there. Very accommodating staff.

Huge dishes with strong flavors, yet disappointing grilled chicken dry and overcooked. Attentive service until it became unusually busy and front door open and very cold evening inside. Had to flag waitress to pay after waiting for check. Molcajete chicken left allot to be desired with breading that fell off, beef was tough and a few shrimp. Perhaps high expectations for molcajete, we had the nachos, molcajete mixto and quesadilla. The chicken in quesadillas was excessive and dry. Had an angst for Mexican is all I can say, but overall just ok!

We had Los Portales as takeout, seeking good Mexican food in delivery distance. I wasn't super disappointed, but I likely will continue my search. To share, we started with guacamole and chips. Background, I am great at making guacamole, so I have high standards (full disclosure: good guac is easy to make). Their guacamole was pretty bad, I have to admit. It was poorly mixed, under-seasoned, and with too large chunks of onion--we might as well have had avocado with cilantro in it. I enjoyed the pastor burrito as my meal. The meat was certainly flavorful, and maybe a bit heavy. I didn't enjoy the big chunks of jalapeño, but managed without pulling those out. It was a good burrito, but I had to make a sauce to accompany it to tie it all together. It was authentic, I will admit. And the menu speaks volumes about authenticity with very abnormal options (at least for someone who is not from this culture) of almost every part of the pig and cow that you can imagine (tongue, head, liver, etc). I probably won't go back, but it's possible the place deserves another try.

Enjoying the amazing ambiance.. mariachis and great margaritas!

A very simple food location with a fun ambiance. Went on Friday night around 7 and didn't leave until 10. The restaurant is right next to a very traditional Mexican bakery and there are not too many tables available but it does have a large bar area. The owners work side by side with the employees so the services is very good. Only reason 4 stars instead of 5 is the menu selection is someone limited. I like the ceviche and the tacos!

Eat here often, the food is good and cheap for the amount of food you get. While I've never been to Mexico, the food seems authentic.

The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and really informative. They're happy to walk you through the menu and make recommendations based on what you like. It's also surprisingly vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, they offer vegan meats so you can swap them into a lot of the classic dishes, which is rare for a taqueria. The food is outstanding. Even the free chips and salsa they start you with are memorable: the chips are fresh and super crunchy, and the salsa has real depth of flavor, not just heat. The entrées are some of the best value around, the burritos are massive (one could easily feed two or three people), and for takeout, the quesadillas literally come in a pizza box, which tells you everything you need to know about portion size. Their appetizers, queso, and house-made hot sauce are all excellent and full of flavor, not just spice. Most times I've been, the service has been fast, even when they're busy. The interior is clean, colorful, and decorated with authentic touches, so it feels fun and relaxed whether you're dining in or just grabbing takeout. If you're searching for great Mexican food in Norwalk, big portions, vegetarian/vegan options, and friendly service, Rincon Taqueria is easily one of the best spots around. Highly recommend.

Popular menu items include birria tacos, octopus, shrimp ceviche, and steak chimichurri. My daughter and I visited here for her birthday, and we both love Latin cuisine. As we walked in, we were greeted warmly and shown to our seats immediately. It was a chilly day, and the restaurant felt cold inside as well. The staff tried to warm things up with space heaters, but they didn't quite do the trick. We ordered empanadas, birria tacos, hanger steak, and sweet plantains with crema and queso fresco. When the dishes arrived, they were lukewarm--a bit disappointing, considering how cold it was outside. The birria tacos were delicious, though again, they could have been hotter. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, but I would have liked it a bit crisper. The hanger steak was tender, and the Pico de Gallo was bursting with flavor, pairing perfectly with the steak. It was nicely seasoned and had a good-sized portion. The empanadas were tasty, with flavorful and plentiful meat. The plantains were extremely delicious. The crema and queso fresco helped bring the whole dish together beautifully. The customer service was friendly, but the food could have been hotter; still, the flavors and seasonings were spot-on.

For my 100th review, I wanted to pick something special for me. Though it was my first time visiting this place, I knew about from them following me on Instagram. Once combined with the Yelp rating and location, I knew I had been wanting to give these guys a visit. And so, Alma Bistro becomes my 100th review! Because I was on my lonesome, I was able to just take a seat at the bar, something I have always come to appreciate as an adult. I actually had 3 different people tending to me: 2 waitresses and 1 waiter. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. I had actually asked about the "pp" by one of the menu items, and truth be told, they are talking about "per person" here! Helpful and great at their jobs! In fact, when I was ordering my food, one of my waitresses gave a special mention to another appetizer, those being the tuna tostada. It's not something I normally eat, but I figured why not! Trusting the employees can sometimes lead you to finding new favorites, and it shows that they really put their thought out when dealing with customer service. It doesn't look like much outside, but it's actually a different story inside! Plants help bring it even more life here, you get that casual feel when eating out, and even the bathrooms are clean! It's definitely a spacious place once you're inside. I did the full course here, which came out to $95.54 before leaving a $20.25 tip. The total therefore was $115.79. Definitely more of a treat than a place to come to every day, but I like it like that for reasons you'll soon find out. So for my appetizers, I had the aforementioned tuna tostada as well as the birria tacos. Those birria tacos are to DIE for! Came out hot, juicy, and just truly divine. The consume was flavorful and seasoned perfectly! Don't skip on these! As for the tostadas, they wouldn't be something I'd normally choose, but WOW was I impressed! These were tasty sons of guns, garnished with a plantain chips and give a spicy kick thanks impart to the jalapeños that garnish the plate. The presentation was superb too! For my entree, I almost went with the $35 Argentinian dish, but my instincts told me I HAD to try the Steak Chimichurri. I must say, that steak is without question one of the best steaks I'd ever had! I had mine medium-well, and it was juicy, seasoned perfectly, great crust that compliments the steak, you name it! It was absolutely HEAVEN on a wooden plate! You're given the yucca frites to go along with it, and these were good as well. The fries were the weakest part, but they were still good with that light, airy goodness. You just need that dipping sauce to elevate it and you're golden. For dessert, the gluten-free chocolate mousse cake! Actually, one of my waitresses Laura had to ask her manager if they were available to order, and luckily they were. You're given a tall slice of a chocolate layered cake with a strawberry drizzle on top and another case of great presentation! This slice slayed and was the perfect thing to end of this dinner. I also got their special menu Tropical Mule, and you have this pineapple garnish, kind of like the limes you might get in a Corona. The cup you get it in keeps the drink cold by not melting the ice quite so fast. Another case where it was worth every penny and then some. I love a good tropical drink and this one tasted great! Sweet enough to be tropical, but not overly sweet to where it can be off putting. Of course Alma is getting a 5! This was the perfect spot for me to take on my 100th review, and I hope you all have enjoyed your journeys on Yelp as much as I have so far. Many more great Yelp moments to come!

We were handed the menus immediately and the waiter poured us a glass of water. I ordered the Birria Tacos and my friend ordered the Steak Fajitas. The food came out in about twenty minutes and the Steak Fajitas came out sizzling and my Birria Tacos looked amazing. The Birria Tacos were filled with tender meat, great flavors, and seasoned to perfection. The only con I would have to say about the Birria Tacos were that they could of been cruncher and I really don't like Corn Tortillas because it leaves that corn taste in your mouth, and there kind of grainy. I would have preferred it to be on a Flour Tortilla. My friend said her Steak Fajitas were delicious. We even talked about the food the next day to plan another day to go back. They had a lot of unique flavors and the prices were about industry standard. The food was a little above average. The prices were about average for the area. The ambiance was interesting. It actually reminded me a lot of the hole in the wall places I saw back in Mexico. It's nothing special, but not bad.
