THEIR QUESADILLAS ARE SO AMAZING. I came here around 10:30 p.m., and there was no line at all. It's situated in the parking lot near the Vermont True Value outlet. Their hours do vary, but if you're close by then it doesn't hurt to check to see if they're up and running. They sell tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. I got the carne asada quesadilla and three al pastor tacos. The total was $10.50. Wow the quesadilla was so good. It was pretty oily, but the portion was good. Quesadilla: 4.5/5. The tacos were a bit disappointing. Something about them was just off to me. The tortillas were kind of hard, and the tacos just weren't that juicy. I prefer Leo's taco truck for tacos. Tacos: 3/5. The workers are native Spanish speakers, but it isn't hard to communicate with them. They're so kind! Also, the man who made my food did a really cool trick where he would cut and fling the pineapple down onto the tacos from the top of the meat machine in one movement. I got it on video which I've posted to the photos! Next time I'll try the burrito!

    The spot.

Delicious tacos Al pastor. They crisp it on the grill after cutting it. Salsas are great too.

    5 de pastor, best tacos!

These are some of the best tacos de pastor Ive ever had. Not even from Los Angeles, but we randomly came across this stand driving up the street after not wanting to eat at a crowded restaurant. Seen the long line on the corner for tacos and we had to try. 5 Yummy tacos for me, boyfriend had quesadilla and we each ordered horchatas to drink. Delicious! Self serve salsa/condiments. This place is a gem. Show them some love! Will be returning anytime I'm in town.

Definitely my favorite burrito spot in the USC area!! They're still fully operating on Vermont but not in the auto zone parking lot anymore. The picked onions that they have on the condiments table are 10/10 and i would highly recommend the al pastor burrito with cheese!! They also have tacos and quesadillas which i have yet to try, but i will be back for next time :)

It's really true; once you've had tacos in LA, you can't go back unless you're in the motherland. I swore by Leo's taco truck for awhile when I would crave for tacos in LA, but this taco stand captured my heart and.. stomach! They offer all kinds of meats, handmade tortillas that are made right in front of you and a vast selection of condiments from red salsa to cucumbers. I mean they have every condiment you can wish for to dress your tacos! Love their grilled onions and jalapeños! I've only tried the carne asada, al pastor and pollo and all are delicious! Most people opt for the al pastor and you will see why once it's being cooked right in front of you. You will definitely understand why when you bite into it. It's got the crisp too, which I personally love! The pollo and carne asada are cooked already, so he normally reheats it on the grill! The owner and his family are super sweet and nice! Locals seem to love them and they not only got me hooked, but my girls & manfriend as well! Tacos are $1.25 each & meat ratio is portioned well. Super close to USC! Open every day around 6PM and close around midnight! I'm a little confused by the hours on Yelp because it says it's closed on Sunday's, but I've seen them there then! Enjoy! :)

For about a month I kept passing by here and never got a chance to check it out, until now. It is such an underground spot that the owner doesn't even have a name for his biz, but it is right on the corner of Vermont Ave and 30th St- across the street from True Value Hardware Store. Typical sized tacos, for $1.25 each, and seven different types of meats. I tried one of each: -Asada -Pollo -Cabeza -Lengua -Al Pastor -Tripa -Chorizo I gotta say, my favorites so far have been the Asada, Cabeza, and Chorizo. Pretty damn good flavors, and go great with the homemade salsas!

1 Star -- Extremely disappointing experience…read more Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was horrible from the moment we arrived. When I first arrived, I gave them the name of our reservation, and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. We were a party of 6, yet they seated us at a tiny table that was clearly not appropriate for our group. When it was time to order, my husband very clearly told the waiter which pasta he wanted and even showed him a picture of the item on the menu. The waiter looked at it and agreed. My food came out, but my husband's food never did. We eventually found out that his order was never even put in. What made it worse was when the waiter came out saying, "Oh my God, I thought you said you didn't want it." Everyone at the table looked at him completely confused because my husband had literally told him what he wanted and showed him the menu item. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and fixing it, we were left waiting. On top of that, trying to get anyone's attention was nearly impossible. We had to repeatedly try to get someone's attention just to get basic service. Then there was another issue with the entrance fee. My sister-in-law had messages showing that we were told that if we ate at the restaurant, we would no longer have to pay the entrance fee. We showed those messages to the woman handling the wristbands, but instead of looking into it or speaking to someone who could clarify the situation, she simply said, "I don't know, you have to pay." No attempt was made to investigate or resolve the issue. After everything that happened, they still added a tip to the bill, despite the extremely poor service we received. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've had. Poor communication, poor service, lack of organization, and no effort to make things right. I definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone, and we will not be returning.

The service was impeccable--everyone was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel special. We had to get the Michelada Oysters again because I had been craving them since our last visit. They were just as amazing as I remembered--fresh, perfectly seasoned, and seriously addicting. For Dine LA, I started with the Tostada Campechana, which was like an elevated ceviche with scallops, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, and a citrus sesame sauce. Everything tasted super fresh and the citrus gave it the perfect balance. The Bone Marrow Mole was rich, flavorful, and came with a generous portion and toast. For my main course, I had the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly--tender, well-seasoned, and delicious with the green sauce. The homemade tortillas were amazing too. We ended with the Dulce de Leche Panna Cotta, and it was the perfect finish--creamy, smooth, not overly sweet, and so good we practically cleaned the plate. Since they live in an area with limited Mexican cuisine, I chose Guelaguetza, a James Beard Award-winning restaurant with authentic Oaxacan recipes, something completely new to them. They were excited to try something different, as they don't have many Mexican food options where they live, and I wanted to expand their culinary horizons. We were greeted with complimentary chips - some were drizzled with mole and Oaxacan cheese, which we requested refills of, and others were served with red and green salsas. The green salsa had a nice kick to it. For our meal, we shared two large dishes: the Festival de Moles ($53.00) and the Tlayuda Guelaguetza ($27.50). The Tlayuda Guelaguetza, which is also called a Mexican pizza, was layered with bean and chicharron spread, queso fresco, cabbage, quesillo, beef tasajo, pork Cecina, and pork chorizo. While I've always wanted to try Tlayuda, this one wasn't good, and I wouldn't recommend it. The pork chorizo was particularly unappetizing, and neither my parents nor I enjoyed the dish, feeling it was a waste of money. The Festival de Moles ($53.00) featured four individual moles - negro, rojo, coloradito, and estofado - with a choice of shredded chicken breast or pork spare ribs. We opted for a mix of both and found this dish to be excellent, and we would definitely order it again. They were very impressed with the moles, and enjoyed them for the first time. The only minor complaint was a lack of tortillas to dip with the mole, though they did provide some rice. We ordered several drinks, which significantly increased the bill. I was surprised we spent $200 on lunch for three people with only two meals. I started with the Pasion De Oaxaca ($16.00), a mezcal, tequila, passion fruit, grapefruit juice, and tajin cocktail that was excellent, perfectly balanced, strong, but not too sweet. For my second drink, I had the refreshing Aquas Frescas - Jamaica ($6), which was perfect after my meal. I even took it to go, and they kindly provided a cup. My dad ended up taking it, as he needed it with his medication (they're old!). My parents, who were trying mole for the first time, were very impressed and really enjoyed it. Our only minor complaint was the lack of tortillas to dip in the mole, although they did provide some rice. The food took a little longer to come out, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I imagine this type of cuisine is labor-intensive, and you can't rush the cooking time for mole. You just have to trust the process! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Guelaguetza Restaurante and will definitely be back. I can see why they're a James Beard Award-winning restaurant; you can get authentic Oaxacan flavors in LA! We're lucky to live here.

Unfortunately, what happened at the bar left me seriously questioning how their rare spirits are being handled. I originally had a reservation but arrived early and decided to eat at the bar instead. I'm a longtime agave enthusiast, so naturally I spent some time going through their spirits list. I was surprised to see two different iterations of a particularly rare bottle available. One iteration is considerably harder to find than the other, despite them being similarly priced here. Before ordering, I specifically confirmed with both my server and the bartender that they had both versions available, and I made it very clear that I wanted the older, rarer iteration. I already own the other version at home and had no interest in ordering it. They poured me one ounce of the older bottle, and it was excellent. I enjoyed it enough that I ordered another two-ounce pour, at roughly $75 per pour. This is where things became concerning. I watched the bartender attempt to pour from the bottle I had ordered and apparently discover that it was empty. Rather than telling me they were out, they picked up the other, less-rare version--the exact bottle I had specifically said I did not want--and poured two ounces from it. From where I was sitting, I could see what appeared to be a discussion between the bartenders about which bottle was being used, yet the drink was still sent to me without anyone mentioning that they had substituted it. As soon as I smelled the pour, I knew something was different. I asked them to bring me the bottle it had been poured from. Sure enough, it was the other version. I politely declined it and explained again that it wasn't what I had ordered. What happened next concerned me even more. The original bottle that appeared to be empty was taken away from the bar. Approximately 10 minutes later, a completely full bottle of that same rare iteration appeared. There is some important context here: this particular bottle was released in 2023 and was available for a relatively limited period. In all my years of collecting and drinking agave spirits, I have only encountered this particular bottle at a bar twice. When I do find older, discontinued releases like this, it's typically a one-off bottle that's already partially consumed. So seeing an empty bottle disappear into the back and then having what appeared to be another completely full bottle of this same 2023 release come out approximately 10 minutes later immediately caught my attention. Could a restaurant have multiple bottles stored away? Absolutely. But in my personal experience with this particular release, having multiple bottles readily available several years later would be extremely unusual. What made the situation even more concerning was that this supposedly replacement bottle wasn't brought out sealed. It arrived already opened, with the wax around the cork and bottle opening completely removed. I'm very familiar with these bottles, and removing that wax cleanly takes some effort. If this was simply another unopened bottle from their inventory, I don't understand why it wasn't brought to the bar sealed and opened in front of me. That would have immediately resolved any concern. Instead, I had just watched the first bottle run empty, watched them attempt to substitute a different and less-rare version without telling me, watched the empty bottle disappear into the back, and then roughly 10 minutes later a completely full--but already opened--bottle of this difficult-to-find 2023 release appeared. The pour from that bottle also tasted noticeably different to me from the first pour I had received. I want to be very clear: I cannot prove that the bottle was refilled, and I am not stating that as a fact. I can only describe exactly what I personally witnessed. But the entire sequence of events left me with serious concerns about the provenance of what I was being served. For an inexpensive house spirit, this would already be troubling. When you're talking about rare agave spirits being sold at approximately $75 per pour, transparency and provenance matter tremendously. If they truly had another bottle of this rare 2023 release in inventory, bringing the sealed bottle to the bar and opening it in front of me would have eliminated virtually every concern I had. Instead, I left questioning what I had actually been served. For a restaurant that presents itself as knowledgeable and passionate about Mexican spirits, this was extremely disappointing. I went in excited to explore their agave selection and left feeling that I couldn't trust what was being poured. Based on my experience, I would not return for rare or high-end spirits, and I would strongly encourage anyone ordering expensive or difficult-to-find pours here to ask to see the bottle before it is poured.
