Our favorites were hands down the fish tacos and the ceviche -- both were perfectly seasoned, refreshing, and tasted like the ocean in the best way. Every bite felt simple, authentic, and done really well. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food here, and the vibe is relaxed and local, which made the experience even better. I LOVE Anthony Bourdain, and we rarely disagree. Unfortunately it's been a long long time since he's been to Taco Lily, and perhaps there are better places in MX than there were then. The fish was fresh, as it is right next door to the fish market (a must to check out). The staff was friendly, parking was easy early in the day....but it was pricey for some fish tacos that are propelled to fame on the back of a fallen legend. The high price made it less special. If zero stars was an option.... I read the reviews on this place were amazing so we decided to stop in while we were in Ensenada. Because the rains were so high I didn't think anything of it when I ordered the oysters. I asked the server how fresh they were, and he said very fresh and they were always kept cold. I trusted him and ordered half a dozen. I shared one with a friend and ate the other five. I made sure to put lots of lemon juice, salt, Tabasco on them to potentially kill anything that might've been residually there. A few hours later, I paid for those oysters for the next six hours in my cabin room on the cruise ship vacation I was on. NEVER EAT HERE. The crema out in the open on the tables should have been my first guess. The rest of my party got tacos and they all liked them. Fried fish tacos are much safer! Friday, 12/30/2022, dinner. Yes, Anthony Bourdain did visit here. His photograph is on the back wall of the cozy dining area. Think tiny seating area, like only 3 bench tables. Alex, our tour guide for the day (see previous review), recommended this place. He dropped us off here on his way back home. This place is literally on the marina, right by all the vendors selling fresh seafood. I ordered the 7 Mares soup for 170 pesos ($8.88) and the breaded shrimp plate for 170 pesos ($8.88). My shrimp plate had 7 huge, breaded shrimp with lovely delicate breading, white rice mixed with corn, and sliced avocados over salad. Shrimp melted in my mouth (I could tell it was super fresh), avocado and salad ripe and crisp, and the rice hot and fluffy. The 7 Mares soup had huge chunks of seafood, a flavorful, hot broth and came in a very large bowl. They had three people working here and the service was very prompt. We left here very full and satisfied. I don't know why neither I nor my wife ordered the tacos? It's in the name and the place is known for their tacos. This spot is small and a bit like eating lunch in a stadium. But it's a food stall with reserved seating, so that's great! The food is fantastic. The fried shrimp tacos are delicious and the staff took great care of my family. If you're stopping on a cruise ship, this spot is super close, right behind the fish market. I have been coming to Tacos Lily's since I was a kid. Honestly, they have the best fish tacos in Ensenada! Even my grandfather, who is a native, agrees. The tacos are incredibly meaty, and the restaurant is located right by the water, with fish fresh from the Mercado Negro. That alone won me over and when you consider it's location near the market and marina, you know the fish is fresh. It's a small and open air restaurant where the fish is battered and fried to order. They provide cabbage, various salsas, crema, avocado, lime and radish. The batter is light, crispy, and delicious paired with cabbage, crema, salsa and lime. They aren't the greatest tacos I've ever had but they're juicy and satisfying - especially for veinte pesos. They set up tons of goodies that you can put on your taco-shredded cabbage, tortilla chips and 4 different salsas, crema, avocado, limes and my favorite, radishes! We ate some chips with salsa and I had radishes that I squeeze with lime and sprinkle with salt. Then they bring the tacos out-hot and delicious. I've been coming to Tacos Lily since I was a kid. It's been over 20 years now and they still knock it out of the park. They absolutely destroy everyone's fish tacos. Everything is made to order. Tacos Lily is connected to the marina, so you know the fish is the freshest it can possibly be. Their batter is truly their own! There's no other fish taco like it!! It's jam packed full of flavor, but light and airy. Top off your tacos with a plethora of toppings (fresh homemade salsas, crema, guacamole, etc) and you're in heaven. Don't forget to wash it down with that sweet Mexican Coca-Cola! You can tell these ladies are dedicated, hard working women, running a successful taco shop, and I'm here with nothing but praise. Tacos Lily makes the best fish tacos that I have had in Mexico and in the US. They are right next to the Ensenada fish market. So, their fish and shrimp is as fresh as you can get. They serve a large piece of fish or a large tiger shrimp coated with a batter and then fried right in front of you. The fried batter is light, not greasy and the outer fried batter has a perfect crunch. Writing about these tacos makes me want to head down and get some right now because they are so good. They are served in a soft corn taco shell. On the bar or table where you sit, they offer a large variety of condiments, including grated cabbage, radishes, queso, sour cream, and a bunch of different types of homemade salsas. And, for something as good as this, they cost around $1. Amazing. They also sell ceviche. I haven't tried that because their tacos are just so darn good. The ladies that work there are very nice. We stumbled across Tacos Lily behind the fish market looking for a place that will seat us immediately. The restaurant next door was crowded and busy, so we decided to eat at Tacos Lily. And boy there was no regrets, plus we did not know at first that Anthony Bourdain had recommended Tacos Lily even though there was a big photo of him across the banner sign. I would highly recommend the battered fish tacos, it came out piping hot. The batter was light, fresh big chunks of fish pieces, with sauces and condiments in abundance. I liked that the fish tacos came wrapped in aluminum foil to sustain the heat, and we dressed it up accordingly. The fish tacos weren't sitting around getting soggy compared to other places that dressed it up before serving. Another hit was the battered shrimp tacos. The one whole shrimp piece was huge. I thought it would have been a few fried small shrimps tucked inside the tortilla, but they are generous with their portion sizes.
