Langosta Puerto Nuevo Style
Alan K.

I came here for only one thing, lobster! It did not disappoint although the price tag is heavy for the lobster, but the lobster was absolutely delicious. I think what I really liked about this place is that they accommodated my friend with his vegetarian needs. The vegetarian pasta dish that they generated looked very appetizing. This place is on the north side of the black fish market so there is less foot traffic.

We got a lobster dish and a bread bowl or clam chowder. Both were fresh and tasty. The service was excellent, our camarera gave suggestions and told us the history of the restaurant. We will come back when we return to this area.

Was on a cruise with a stop in Ensenada and found this gem. Best lobster I've ever had! Owner of the restaurant and the waitress were outstanding. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and melted in your mouth. Price was more than reasonable and less expensive than the restaurants on the main boulevard. Making plans to come back to Ensenada just to eat here again!

Lobster Puerto Nuevo

Fresh fresh fresh!!! The best lobster we have ever had. Our server Sebastian was the best host. This is now a must every time we visit Ensenada.

My hubby wanted good lobster. But going to Puerto Nuevo was too far away. So we managed to find this place just across from Pueblo Antiguo. We were fortunate that it was late for lunch, so it was no problem getting a table. We were so excited to see all the great seafood options: ceviche, lobster, octopus, etc. For Mexican standards, it was expensive. But it saved us a trip from going to Puerto Nuevo. And it was reasonably- priced by US standards. Loved the lobster and ceviche: shrimp and octopus. I also got the seared tuna, which was lity seared and kept the fresh juicy flavor of the tuna. Glad we found this place. Would love to try the other items on the menu next time.

Omg that octopus!!!!! Mine!!!!

Well. This place is a hidden gem. Great food. Amazing ambience. Good service. If you're looking for a hole in the wall where you can really enjoy some amazing seafood in ensenada, give this place a try. Parking was easy because we went on a week night. Not sure how it is on busy weekends. When we went the restrooms were out of order but no big deal. The place feels like a movie set. The decor is just so perfect. The smell of the place is of ocean and fresh seafood and spices. The owner David (he and his wife own the joint but wifey wasn't there that night) is a gregarious fellow. Full of good belly laughs and affable. Our server Alexandra was great. She was a bit shy and quiet at first but soon opened up. The food is amazing. Tasty. Prepared with care. Don't go if you're in a hurry. Experience this place with time and relax. I had the octopus, my hubby had the lobster, mom had the tuna and dad had the mixto (he wasn't so excited about it because I think he was jelly about the lobster ). Place is small. Quiet for the most part but I'm guessing when it's full, volume goes up. Family friendly, but I'd say this is more of a grownup place. Enjoy enjoy! Cannot wait to go back.

A little pricey for mexico but it was in downtown of Ensenada but so good it was worth it!

Went here while we were on the Carnival Cruise. We got dropped off in downtown and I was looking for a place that specializes in lobster and I found it with La Cocedora de Langosta! We got the medium sized lobster with the garlic butter seasoning ($82). It comes with rice, bean and tortillas which were delicious to make a lobster taco. Even the side salad was so delicious!! We also absolutely loved their green salsa with our tortilla chips. The service was great and super friendly! My partner said it was the best lobster he ever had and I can agree. I love lobster and it was really fresh and cooked to perfection! If you are ever in town, this is the place to try!

Great Lobster dinner with the family! Great prices and excellent service. Miles isn't in the oicrures but it was his first-time having lobster. He's not a shrimp eater so wasn't sure if he would like the lobster but he did

Small lobster tail (it was big enough for me!)
Martha M.

I'm puzzled by the 5 star reviews. Maybe we came on a bad night. Maybe they only undercooked my lobster tail or maybe it just wasn't worth $40 bucks (our bill plus sodas & hubs mixto cocktele totaling $60), it just wasn't worth it. The only thing tasty was the tomatillo salsa. Chips were hard & bland, rice & beans were not what I expected & the flour tortillas were not homemade & cold/not warmed up. Lobster tail was chewy/rubbery, not cooked long enough. Hubbys cocktele lacked seasoning, it was watery with barely any spices or lemon juice. Service was Ok. The place is typical rural crusty crab sea decor - definitely outdated. It was a birthday dinner & well it just wasn't good. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't doable either. Should've stuck to Puerto Nuevo, although I heard there are good lobster restaurants here in Ensenada. This wasn't one of them. No parking, you'll have to park far and walk because it's a popular seafood boardwalk area, near the naval base & they have night time market night/fair. The Carnivals which is a big party Atmosphere, is coming up end weekend of February.

Burnt and dry pork, steak, pineapple and 2 shrimp skewers for $84 usd. Horrible!

BUYER BEWARE!!! We had a very unfortunate experience here as san diegans visiting ensenada. This was our first stop on our trip, we made a reservation with their services, and when we showed up to the restaurant, they handed us menus, sat us down, and then 10 mins later said the kitchen is closed. They offered us an alternative meal, "spanish tapas" they said. They said it was a special event and so we trusted them. Unfortunately, my wife and i paid $84 usd for a small bowl of rissotto and a bunch of burned, overcooked smoked.meat served by a tipsy restaurant associate (i think he worked there but honestly unsure). It was a single plate of pork pineapple,.really bad steak and 2 shrimp skewers. All this occurred as they brought out another patrons freshly prepared lobster. All in all, we realized quickly (once the "tapas" arrived as a large plate of burnt meat) we had been duped on this transaction, and we admit defeat. The price of the food was arbitrary and inflated for us as americans, and as we left we were even laughed at. In all honesty we should not have trusted the staff to be able to produce tapas, and just left. But we trusted these employees and were taken advantage of. I am glad they made their money, as it seems like an odd ruse and times must be tough for these guys, but we will never go back to this place again.

This ceviche verde de camarones

Amazing .. great service .. fresh and so delish ... 4 of us ate with each having a different dish and each was excellent... pricing way better then US lobster prices

Shrimp salad and lobster!

This place is a hidden gem! Wow! Wow! Wow! We had the shrimp salad to start and it was delicious! Then the Lobster was fresh and extremely tasty! I would not only recommend this place but will be back! Staff was very friendly and attentive. FYI this is where the locals eat not on main drag with all the tourists. Highly recommended it!

Lobster and oysters

We took a Royal caribbean cruise and weren't planning to get off until some staff told us about this place. Got a round trip shuttle to downtown for $4 and walked the 4 blocks here. The food is amazing and great staff. The Tuna was the best I've ever had. The taste was phenomenal and seasoned to perfection. The abalone my husband loved because of the sesame oil. The sauce that came with the raw oysters was so good and paired perfectly. I don't think I'd order the rockfella oysters again because it was to much cheese for us. The lobsters we ordered were small. Online it says they open at 12 but it's actually 12:30. Highly recommend this place.

Highly recommended for lunch during cruise docking at Esenada.

The last time my friends attempted to eat here, the restaurant was full and it will take at least a 30 minute wait to get seated. Today, the 21st of November was our lucky day as we were craving the freshest ceviche Ensenada has to offer and experiencce the five star rating Muelle 3 was known for. Our party of 4 chose to sit outside to eat lunch on this cool, cloudy Friday afternoon and be exposed to the sights and sounds of this busy commercial and fishing port. Within minutes of getting settled, our free appetizer - Tortilla Espanola and a plate full of lemon & lime slices with an oyster shell-full of sea salt and chili powder occupied the center of our table. Then came the Ceviche de la casa. A winner in my book of ceviches! Plus a coaster-sized, fresh off the pan tortilla chips gave it a unique serving style. We had to order another bowl of tortillas because eating ceviche without it just won't be the same. The Calamar frito were perefectly breaded, without excess flour and grease in every bite. Another winner! Last but not the least is the Pasta de Mar with the clams of different sizes and pre-cut scallops in the their shell. Muy Delicioso! More hungry patrons started arriving and we still got prompt service. I will make it a point to grab a satisfying seafood dish or two here the next time I visit Ensenada whether by car or by cruise ship.

The original location was where the modern fish taco was born supposedly. It all started when Mesoamericans nixtamalized maize, which became flatbreads. Eventually it led to corn tortillas, which were used to hold various fillings like seafood. The Spanish Colonial period introduced new ingredients and cooking techniques. Japanese fishermen in Baja California during the early 20th century helped popularize tempura-style frying. Seafood vendors brought batter fish to the mercado in the 50s/60s, which became a hit. Then a San Diego State University student opened the first Rubio's a couple decades later, and now fish tacos are enjoyed by everyone today. I didn't spend much time here because I had to make it back onto the cruise ship. But as someone who appreciates food and history, it was nice to walk around. The original mercado shuttered in 1967 and the vendors relocated to the waterfront, and eventually moved into the building you see now. Lots of stalls selling all different types of seafood. There's also restaurants nearby where you can order ceviche, cocteles, oysters, and other regional specialties. I also ordered the Tamarind Margarita, which was darker than anticipated. Definitely had a tamarind forward flavor. I also had the oysters , which was nice and meaty but it wasn't as cold as I would like. I also tried the Ceviche De La Casa which had tuna, clams, octopus and tuna. I was so excited to come here because I was on the hunt for a restaurant that served Aguachile! Options for the Aguachiles included Negro, Rojo, or Verde. I opted for the Aguachile Verde. The entire dish was so refreshingly light and palatable. I was obsessed with the taste of the fresh shrimp, cucumber, and red onion, all soaked in the tasty verde sauce and Tajín. It paired so well with the tostadas. It was also priced reasonably at MX$325, equivalent to about $19. The portion and abundance of the Aguachile were plentiful, as I was full when I finished. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautifully inviting and vibrant. I loved the presentation of the colorful, decorative papel picado flags, which added to the celebration of Mexican culture. The atmosphere was amazingly festive as a whole. The customer service was welcoming and friendly. Overall, La Cevichería Oyster Bar did not disappoint with the incredible Aguachile. I highly recommend coming here for that or any seafood dish that you're craving.

Thus we made a point to stop by for food during our second cruise stop in Ensenada, 4 days later. We discovered the large crowds were not in line waiting, but were instead enjoying their ceviche and other cold seafood while standing up. It made for a festive atmosphere, definitely ramping up the enjoyment of really great tasting seafood. The food stall is located facing the main road of Ensenada (walking distance from the cruise port) and is separated into two parts: the front serving seafood tostadas and the back serving cocktails and aquachiles. Each had different lines, with a common guy accepting payment after delivery. They have been doing this for a while (1981?) and things are efficient. I wanted one thing, which was the mixed cocktail with all the seafood available (campechano, a word I've come to love since moving to the LA area). They have 4 sizes from chico ($105) to jumbo ($360). The seafood mix is diced together ahead of time to save on time, and are mostly diced pretty fine. The mix is prepared fresh though, and was ready in about a minute. It was excellent, refreshing and just the right amount for me. I had wanted to try the seafood cocktail again from La Guerrerense (another nearby famous seafood stand), so that was our first stop during our second visit to Ensenada in 5 days. We then visited other sites in the area, saving El Guero for the end before we headed back to the ship. As expected the cocktail from Guerrerense was very good, but this version from El Guero was even better....better selection of seafood, and more finely mixed to give a better representation of the different textures of the freshness. That would make it the best seafood cocktail I've ever enjoyed.

They also brought complimentary chips, salsas, lime, and cabbage, plus ketchup and mayo on the side (we didn't end up using those). The tacos were simple but very well done. The fish and shrimp were fried fresh, light and crispy without being greasy. The shrimp was my favorite. The pico de gallo was fresh and flavorful, and the lime and cabbage added a good balance and crunch. I honestly wish I would've ordered their whole fried fish because it looked incredible, but there's no way two people could've finished it in one sitting.
