We recently gave this restaurant a try and so far this is by far one of the best in Ensenada. My husband had the suckling pig which was so tender and tasty, I had the chicken mole which was delicious the mole was perfectly seasoned not too sweet or to spicy just nicely done with perfect amount of of both. Went to La Hoguera yesterday. That address on Yelp had not been updated since they moved in March of 2025. The new location is beautiful. We went on a rainy night and still everything was wonderful. They are very family friendly. Even have a separate play area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was outstanding. Elias was our server. He was great. The steaks were first rate. Doesn't look like much from the front. We almost didn't stop. So glad that we did! The Tortillas are freshly made with every order. They are warm and tasty. I feel silly getting so excited about beans. They were incredibly good. I wish I could recreate them. The marrow on Tortillas with a little salt and lime are so good. Ordered the skirt steak...a huge mound of meat on top of a huge mound of vegetables...I couldn't even finish half of it! This would have been rated higher but it had a huge piece of tendon that ran through half the meat, and it was slightly over cooked. It's like home. My husband had the T-bone steak. I had the. Chicken in Mole. Oh my goodness- never had such awesome tasting mole anywhere else. This place is a hidden gem. The service was slow and we were the first people there. They also gave us a "new" menu with higher prices then what's outside on the sign. Charged us 1200 pesos( 16 -1 exchange) for the meat fajitas. Outside menu said 950. When I questioned it they said oh that's our old prices. Food overall was just ok, definitely not worth the price! I am very close to saying this has been one of the best food experiences of my life. I can't wait to come back to Ensenada just to run to this restaurant. They prepare the salsa right in front of you, and it's very tasty. My husband and I ordered the corn chowder soup and ended up ordering a third bowl because the flavor was incredible. Terrible service lmfao, confused why this place has any good reviews but not too many have photos so can't trust them all. Came here and ordered drink about ten minutes into waiting. The tables around us had salsa being made for them and we continued to ask how to get that done for our complimentary chips and they all seemed confused one guy even said they only got one cart but we seen about two more at other tables. About another 15 minutes and our serve came and took our order we had to ask again for our salsa and he told us to wait so we did an it never came. Another 10 minutes maybe even 15 and the server came and told us they don't have anymore chilles nogados. We divided to leave considering half of what we wanted wasn't available to order along with the beef bone marrow, guacamole for chips or even diet cococola. He mentioned it's cause it's a Sunday? We sat and waited a for sure 30 minutes for no salsa and to be told they have a very limited menu. Horrible service. Food took almost an hour to be ready and we were literally the only ones in there ‍ we had hangry kids. The food is over priced and not good. The one great thing was the table salsa they make for you. Also, we ordered chicken tenders and fries for the kids and it tasted like fish! So this place hit me like a left hook I didn't see coming. Wow! The flavors were really on another level. Ensenada has a reputation as a foodie Mecca, and this meal definitely showed why. The restaurant features a beautiful outdoor hardwood-fired grill fed by a roasting clay oven, where everything is prepared fresh to order, including tortillas! Amazing doesn't even begin to cover it. We started out with the queso fundido covered with chorizo, freshly made corn and flour tortillas, and this unbelievably delicious hand-made salsa that had been prepared tableside moments earlier. The combination of flavors was so delicious it made me pause for a moment to just enjoy the beauty of life. Who knew that flavors could bring such joy? And the emotional rollercoaster didn't stop with the first course. We ordered the steak grill combo that was served with four cuts of beef (ribeye, tbone, flank, and something else) on its own mini grill with hot coals in the bottom. The meat was incredibly tender and delicious. It paired so well with the fresh tortillas and salsa! My only regret was eating so many chips early on, running out of stomach space. Did I mention the meat came with a vegetable platter that had all kinds of wonderful squash, peppers, and potatoes, including this wonderful fluffed butter sauce that was was literally like icing on the cake. Overall this was in my top 10 dining experiences ever. We came here twice over our long weekend trip and next time we are in Ensenada, we will definitely be coming back. Five solid stars! read more

Was looking for a place to have our one year anniversary and La Hoguera did not dissapoint! The margararitas were strong and tasty. We had an empanada and guacamole as appetizers, at first glance the empanadas seemed burned, but they were delighfully flaky and flavorsome. We each ordered the prime rib, she ordered hers well done and I ordered mine medium rare. Both were cooked perfectly as we wanted. The roasted potatoes were definitely a highlight! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also had a lady making fresh homemade flour tortillas. It was a lot of food, they ended up boxing up the left overs and even let us take the salsa they made us. Will be coming here regularly! read more

This is a place that's been on my list to try for years. We finally tried it, and it was a bit disappointing. We ordered the lechón and the arrachera tampiqueña. The portions we quite small. The lechón seemed not super fresh because the skin was rubbery, not crisp. Also it had a sort of weird gamey flavor. The arrachera was ok. It was not very seasoned but slightly better than the lechón. You'll find better arrachera at just about any taqueria. They gave us salsa and chips before the food came out. We finished it so we didn't have salsa with the dinner. It was a good salsa though that they prepared table side. The best part of both meals was the enmolada that came with the arrachera. The service was ok. Not the best but not horrible either. I can really complain. The restaurant is very cold inside, so be aware if you plan to visit in the winter. It was not busy. In fact when we walked in there didn't seem to be any workers there. We walked to the back patio where we met up with a waiter who sat us at a table inside. Honestly, I was bummed out that this was our last meal here before we head home. It was also the most expensive meal of our trip by far, and the least enjoyable. read more

We went with a bit of trepidation tonight , Sunday night, as per some reviews saying they received poor service and Sundays were bad. We wanted a meal somewhere in between too fancy and too casual. This hit the spot! We just got home from our fantastic meal there on a Sunday night and the service and the food were both incredible. The table side salsa verde was the best salsa we've had in our long weekend here.
