I was in Mexico recently, and I love ceviche. I was looking for a place, but the first ceviche restaurant told me the wait time was half an hour, which I unfortunately didn't have. Later in the week, I happened to walk El Güero, which was another ceviche place I saw while looking up places. I took my cousin because he likes ceviche as well. The place is really busy and packed. Be advised that there are two lines: One for the cocktails and another for the ceviche. The workers were super friendly and helpful, and the food was worth waiting for. I love adding hot sauce in ceviche, but since we had to take the food to-go, we unfortunately couldn't add it in. The food was so good. My only regret is we couldn't buy more.
Limey, savory, nice chew, got a great ceviche (?) and fresh shucked oysters (few shell bits) here. Menu clearly labeled in english, just line up on the side of the food you want behind the person preparing, and when they are available they'll take your order and you can pay after eating everything to a man in a vest! Unlimited tostadas in a cart to scoop the yummy seafood and sauce, we got La Guerita, a mixture of octopus, pismo clams, fresh shrimp, among other things and it was so good. Can't beat eating outdoors at a cart on a sunny day. PS they charged us 50cents LESS than actual after conversion to save us the trouble without telling us.
The line isn't as long as La Guerrerense but don't let that fool you into thinking the food is any less better. There's some overlap but they focus a lot on shellfish like clams, oysters, etc. Parking was a bit of a nightmare and our friend dropped us off first so we could get in line. Each side of the stall has its own line with a different type of food to order. Take a good look around the stall, figure out what you want to get. You order first and pay after you get your food. Rey del Mer Cocteles (Small): Imagine ceviche with a strong citrus flavor and way more soup-y. There's a mix of oyster, clam, and black clam. The oysters were the best part! Concha Preparada: Comes stacked in two large shells. It's a random assortment of different types of shellfish but I honestly couldn't really tell them apart besides the oysters and octopus. They chop everything into bite-sized pieces. It's not flavored much IMO, and we added Tabasco to give it an extra oomph. Pour some of the cocteles soup for more flavor! There's a little sauce cart to the side but it's kind of crusty looking because of the flies. Also hard to tell what the sauces are and how spicy they are. Overall, the food was good, very fresh tasting which is super important for seafood. But I got tired of the food fast because it was the same texture every bite. They put vegetables like onions and cucumbers but it wasn't enough crunch to change the texture. Our friends got some fresh oysters and said those were bomb! Next time, that's what I'll be ordering.
Great little seafood stand! Everything is shucked right in front of you fresh. There are about three different stations, so walk around the cart to see what interests you first, then order from each area, then pay all together. They speak some English and take USD (and may even give you change in US dollars!).
I'll have to go back and sample more. The shrimp ceviche was good, but not life changing. It's made in advance and stored in big jugs. Lots of choices of what to get. Crab, octopus, shrimp etc... Served on a corn crisp tortilla and eaten right there and that's part of the charm. You pay after you eat and plenty of both hot sauces plus cold drinks to choose from. It's part of the Ensenada vibe and you kind of have to do it when you're there. I've had better ceviche that was made right in front of you, but this is very decent. I think it moves around a bit, but easy to find. Look for the line.
I'm just reviewing the oysters. They were fresh and delicious . It's more of an outdoor stand but the most crowded one around the area. Service was quick and you pay after you finish eating. Will definitely be checking this place out when I'm here again. I'm happy I as able to get my oyster fix
Ensenada was a stop on our short 4 day cruise just for a quick getaway. We knew that we wanted some ceviche/raw shellfish, so we walked through the main streets off the cruise port on a mission. We saw many restaurants that served what we wanted, but many were dead quiet and/or way over priced for the cruise tourists. We had almost given up and then we turned the corner of a street and saw a large crowd around a food stall. When we got to the crowd, it was immediately obvious that this place was really good as there was a line of locals and fellow cruisers waiting to order. As we waited, I could see everyone's faces light up as they ate all the delightful raw seafood items. We don't really speak Spanish, so we just ordered a bunch of seafood cocktails & ceviches by pointing to the numerous shellfish varieties on ice. The workers were super friendly and made room for us to put our items on the front hood of their truck so we can enjoy our goodies. There was a fantastic selection of all types of hot sauces and that is always a plus. It is just a simple food stall on the sidewalk, but it was so much more lively, inviting and cost a fraction of those overpriced dark empty restaurants on the main tourist street. I wish I could have eaten more, but sometimes less is more and this leaves us wanting to go back next time we're on a cruise down there.

Omg I love Mariscos and this spot did not disappoint. It's a small vendor posted outside on the street with a bunch of guys, basically in an assembly line, slanging seafood. The long lines meant - it was so good and worth the wait. Honestly, it wasn't too long. My friend and I ordered 1 tostada each. She got the aguachiles and I the Guera. Great portions packed with flavor. I went back for oysters, which they shuck right in front of you. There were so many chile bottles to choose from. They also had some dark "crack" sauce that I chose to put on. I'm no sabo so I no sabo what the salsa was but it was delicious. Spicy, tangy, umami. Muyyyy ricooooo read more

During our first cruise stop in Ensenada while walking back from our lunch stop back to the ship, we noticed the large crowds gathered around El Guero Mariscos. Thus we made a point to stop by for food during our second cruise stop in Ensenada, 4 days later. We discovered the large crowds were not in line waiting, but were instead enjoying their ceviche and other cold seafood while standing up. It made for a festive atmosphere, definitely ramping up the enjoyment of really great tasting seafood. The food stall is located facing the main road of Ensenada (walking distance from the cruise port) and is separated into two parts: the front serving seafood tostadas and the back serving cocktails and aquachiles. Each had different lines, with a common guy accepting payment after delivery. They have been doing this for a while (1981?) and things are efficient. I wanted one thing, which was the mixed cocktail with all the seafood available (campechano, a word I've come to love since moving to the LA area). They have 4 sizes from chico ($105) to jumbo ($360). The seafood mix is diced together ahead of time to save on time, and are mostly diced pretty fine. The mix is prepared fresh though, and was ready in about a minute. It was excellent, refreshing and just the right amount for me. I had wanted to try the seafood cocktail again from La Guerrerense (another nearby famous seafood stand), so that was our first stop during our second visit to Ensenada in 5 days. We then visited other sites in the area, saving El Guero for the end before we headed back to the ship. As expected the cocktail from Guerrerense was very good, but this version from El Guero was even better....better selection of seafood, and more finely mixed to give a better representation of the different textures of the freshness. That would make it the best seafood cocktail I've ever enjoyed. read more

Hands down!!! The service and food is great. I ordered a campechana. To see them make it in front of you from scratch and to taste the freshness of the sea food is worth every penny. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to all my friends when visiting Ensenada. read more

Great little seafood stand! Everything is shucked right in front of you fresh. It looks crowded and unorganized, but they are quick to prepare your order and serve you. No searing available, wait time no more than five minutes. read more

I'm just reviewing the oysters. They were fresh and delicious . It's more of an outdoor stand but the most crowded one around the area. Service was quick and you pay after you finish eating. Will definitely be checking this place out when I'm here again. I'm happy I as able to get my oyster fix read more

My bf ordered me a Concha Preparada (clam in shell with seafood. We were nervous ordering because we don't speak Spanish, but we managed :) i believe someone there spoke English, so no worries about the language barrier. Also I like that you can just point at the menu for what you wanted! The clam was $75 which is around $4 USD! What a great deal. Btw this is walking distance from the cruise, around 20min, so no need to take a shuttle or taxi read more

Hubby saw others' ceviche cups yesterday, after we'd already eaten, so we came back today for a little snack. We bought just a small cup of shrimp and octopus ceviche with all the "greens," and loved it. One of the guys was also kind and patient enough to show all the options that we didn't know in Spanish. The only chewy piece was the round 3/4 bulb, that looked like it could be the little octopus' head...otherwise, all scrumptious! read more

My family & I love seafood & always on a search for good spots. This is by far, thee best we have ever tasted!! Usually we are all ready to prepare it the way we like it, by adding lemon ,Chile, a few of us e en add catchup. There's is perfect just they way they serve it. No need to add anything else. Unless you'd like a little extra spice to it, in that case there mixed Chile salsa is a Must!!! read more

This place was by far the busiest cart I've seen in Ensenada and it mostly locals which says a lot. I had just tried a tostada at La Guerrerense that was delicious so I went for the basic fish tostada which was under a dollar and probably the best value in my life. It was simple but delicious and there was absolutely no "fishy" flavor at all. Definitely worth a stop. read more
