El Matate is one of my favorite restaurants in Jackson because it is actually one of the only authentic and non-Americanized (cuisine wise) restaurants. The ambience is chill and laid-back. The restaurant is a decent size and not busy on week nights. On weekends, however and holidays they have a live music and a DJ.
