Bamba is as much a bar as a taqueria, with a full alcohol selection and lively music. The bro at the counter who took my order was patient and friendly as I navigated the menu. And my youngest and I enjoyed it so much that we came back with my oldest after her summit at George Mason University. Classified as upscale street food, it specializes in small plates and everything is pretty much à la carte. The first time we visited was for dinner, and I had put us on the waitlist via their website. We still had to wait for a little bit, but it wasn't bad. The second time we visited was for lunch and the crowd wasn't as bad. They were also so kind to allow us to put our luggage behind the host counter. The place definitely has a rustic beachy feel to it. They have big glass "garage doors" that separate the interior and exterior dining rooms. When we were here for dinner, the doors were open, but they were closed for lunch. Service was quick and wonderful. You put a little tag up on your table when you need something and they are quick to accommodate. We got the cucumber salad which was fresh and delicious. I also wanted to try their esquites, which were pretty good but lacked some flavor in my opinion. I got the cucumber cooler to drink since they were out of their zero proof mix on our first visit. It was really good and the presentation was great! The second visit I was able to get a zero proof margarita and that was really good! Between the two visits, I tried the carne asada, chicken verde, sesame ribeye, pork carnitas, and a special lobster taco they had. Overall, I think my favorite was the sesame ribeye. We also got the churros for dessert and those were incredible. It was too hot for them during lunch, so we opted for ice cream instead, which was also great. It's a great place and really fun. I do think it's slightly overpriced for the size of the food, even though I know it's small bites. Still a fun place and great quality and I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Might be obvious to everyone roses but They announce your number in Spanish only so you need to be prepared. You pick up on the side of the dining tables. The condiment/salsa bar is delicious and I love how you can customize what you want. If you like tripa, you're going to celebrate. Best tripa tacos I've ever had. Lengua was also good. Unexpectedly, the al pastor wasn't my favorite.

There's a meme that says if you're tacos come in that squiggly taco tray, just know they're gonna be trash. And yes they were. I got four tacos. So terrible I forgot what meat. Over priced and only one bite of meat in each. The tortillas tore easy too. Basically radish tacos. I'm Mexican, and I'm upset that yall have this as an option here. The food was great, with bold flavors in a traditional Mexican street-food style, and ordering was quick and easy. It wasn't, but he still enjoyed it. He also ordered the crispy shrimp taco, rice and beans, and watermelon mocktail. He loved the mocktail. So fresh and refreshing, but it was a small cup that was 95% ice. So it was basically a sip. The beans in the rice were very mushy and unappealing. We enjoyed the churros in carmelized pineapple, but would have preferred chocolate. The pineapple was nothing special. They have indoor and some outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast- probably the best part of the visit. I ordered a tortilla soup and the small steak quesadilla. I did like you could order some "smaller" options. I originally wanted blackened fish tacos but got notice on their website that they were only doing blackened salmon which wasn't what I was craving. You get a number and your food is run out to you. The food came out pretty quickly while I was sitting outside. The small quesadilla came out first- it was a nice size, especially if you were getting other items. The steak had initially decent flavor - it almost reminded me more of barbacoa then steak. However as I had a few more bites, the steak was very greasy and the 2 cheese blend they used was a bit overwelming and fatty. I could only eat 2/4 without feeling a bit sick from the fat content. Also, I was surprised the quesadilla was served with no dips- no pico, no sour cream, no salsa for 9.75$ - feels a bit of a rip off. Now the real star of the unfortunate show- the tortilla soup. It was probably the worst tortilla soup I had. It was very brothy but without flavors- veggies were raw or undercooked and there were barely any tortilla pieces. They added a lot of chicken but the chicken was bizarre- most chicken tortilla soups have finely cut chicken or shredded chicken. It looked like they put in a whole scoop of taco chicken meat- the pieces were chunky, fatty, and barely fit on the spoon. Overall it was off putting, nothing melded together and with almost no flavor, I was left really disappointed. Did I get all the wrong things? Maybe. I may try it again one day but it was truly a huge let down.

Parking was easy with a large garage right next to the restaurant, which made it especially convenient before heading to a show nearby. When we walked in, the bar was packed with people watching the game, and it had a fun, lively atmosphere. It definitely looked like a great place to catch a sporting event. The service was excellent from start to finish. The owner even came over to introduce himself, which was a really nice touch and made us feel welcome. The chips and salsa were good, just what you'd hope for at a quality Mexican restaurant. We ordered the shrimp fajitas, regular fajitas, and a couple of quesadillas from the kids menu. Even though the menu says it's for kids 8 and under, they were happy to let our slightly older kids order from it. It was a fantastic value, although I'd recommend it more for kids around 12 and under based on the portion sizes. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, but the standout was definitely the homemade tortillas. They were outstanding. I also asked for a hot sauce, and they brought out a fresh green sauce that completely elevated the meal. I'm not sure exactly what was in it, but it was incredible. Great food, friendly service, easy parking, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'd definitely come back and would highly recommend Rango's to anyone looking for excellent Mexican food in Virginia.
